Massillon and Moeller will hook up in Cincinnati this Saturday for the first time since 1998. Although it’s been eight years since they lined up across from each other, they are really no strangers, having played each on 11 occasions, dating back to 1980. The Crusaders hold a sizeable 9-2 advantage in the series, but many of the games were classics in their own right.

That 9-2 coulda, shoulda, woulda be 7 -4. MINIMUM !!!!

Two heartbreakers, down @ Cincy in 89 (?), and when the RB ran the hash for a TD pass at home with a minute to play!:afro:

1982 was one of my favorite seasons unitl that game. I was 10 then and was more die-hard than ever. I remember seeing the size of the crusaders and thinking it looked like a pro team (to a young kid anyway). I remember Hiawatha and whatever his brother's name was.

:puke:
Eek - I wanted that one bad.

So fellas - gettum back for me tomorrow huh?

His brother's name was D'Juan and they were the highly recruited from Texas Francisco brothers.

I remember the 1980 game. They scheduled it for Dayton Welcome stadium, which was too small. After 100's of phone calls from irate Massillon fans, it was switched to Nippert Stadium at the University of Cincinnati. It was a rainy day, but by noon there were several thousand Massillon fans lined up at Nippert waiting for the stadium to open. There was a guy dressed in a Tiger suit with a big siren ,lights and horn thing there waiting in line with us. College students cheered out there dorm windows and flew a few Massillon flags. The crowd yelled TIG ERS. We we fired up. We wanted to win so badly. but it wasn't to be.
It rained the entire game. It was a long ride home.
