In case anyone didn't know...Ohio has another boxing champion...Kelly Pavlik! Pavlik scored a seventh-round TKO of Jermain Taylor to capture the world middleweight championship and became the first Ohio champion since Warren's Frankie Randall!

Congrats to Pavlik and welcome to the fraternity of Ohio world boxing champions!

I am SO disappointed............ I know you know their middle names!!!!

What a great fight it was too. Pavlik went down in the second, got up, and went right after Taylor. Hit him with some HUGE shots in the 7th to get the TKO!!!

BOOM BOOM was in the house too!

GREAT news. Jermain is a freaking coward. Did he make Pavlik fight this fight in Memphis, or Arkansas, or whatever freaking podunk town he's from.

Um, maybe because of the fact that he won't take ANY big fights outside of the Memphis area. He wouldn't even THINK about fighting Winky Wright in Vegas where the judges would have given the true decision which was Winky kicking his coward ass. How am I doing so far?

You may have an argument here to a degree. You're doing pretty good for the most part. Had Wright and Taylor fought in Vegas, I'm about 95% sure Wright would have gotten the edge. After all, he did get two decisions over Shane Mosley...both in Vegas (the first one unifying the junior middleweight title).

But let me tighten the bolts up a bit: If Joe Calzaghe was to fight Pavlik in his hometown of Cardiff, Wales...would you label Calzaghe a coward for not taking such a big fight out of his hometown? And all of Calzaghe's fights were all fought in Wales.

How do you know? Make HIM travel across the ocean and train outside of the friendly confines of home. You don't KNOW what that would have done to him. And we may never find out. He won't fight anywhere else anyway.

New Champ Pavlik Leaves Paycheck at Hotel

New middleweight boxing champion Kelly Pavlik did everything he expected to do last week in Atlantic City, N.J.

He knocked out Jermain Taylor to win the WBC and WBO titles. He charmed the national media with his easy-going nature. And he made himself must-see television by putting on one of the best fights of the year.

"Pretty much everything went the way we planned it," Pavlik said Tuesday after a golf outing in his hometown of Youngstown, Ohio, where he was mobbed as if he were a rock star.

All of it went the way he planned, except for one fairly significant detail: Pavlik and his father, Mike Pavlik Sr., left Atlantic City without their paychecks.
