I thought the PA guy was an asshole!!!!

Amen TigerHead.

What a Jerk.

That was the same announcer that in the 2005 game had said "Ignatius player tackled by a litter of kittens"

And every time he said " Yoooooour Ignatius Wildcats" I just wanted to go up to the press box and let him know they're not *MY* Ignatius Wildcats!

ok fair enough but remember that the next time the massillon announcer says "your" massillon tiger swing band ect ect ect
they are the home team why shouldnt he be able to say that or next time on sports time ohio they say your cleveland indians... remember that

Isn't that the reason for "home field advantage"? We used to have it, but the saps in the crowd don't like Hells Bells played to loud so you only hear it for 2-3 seconds on a third down. What a joke!

Walt is much better than that. I have never once heard "Your Massillon Tigers". It's always been "THE Massillon Tigers"

Listen at the next game.

But, When you have the best announcer in the game, everyone else seems pretty lame. I guess that's what it is...

honestly if the announcer got to the players like he got to you then i would rather have him over the most professional of announcers....

The home field advantage at PBTS is exactly as you stated it a joke, with 7 or 8,000 Tigers fans in that place for every game that place should be rocking yet it takes 50 players on the sidelines to throw their hands up in the air to get the majority of the old ginks up out of their seats,,,sad very sad.
I wonder what the atmosphere will be like Friday night with a 1-5 Buchtel team coming in against a team that some thought would make it to the title game this year but will be lucky to win 6 games...:ohno:

I like the Hells Bells, BUT the only problem with that is we copied it along with 20 other teams off of Ohio State. Let OSU keep the Hells Bells and lets develop something on our own.

In defense of Mike if you go onto Youtube the guy for the indians ( who I think is pretty good ) always starts the Lineups with "Here is the starting lineup for YOUR Cleveland Indians.

They're sure not MY Cleveland Indians. Them and their whiny fans. Anyway, I digress. It doesn't really matter what song is coming out of the loud speaker. The enthusiasm has waned for many years on the home side. I've heard it from too many people that got complained at because they were standing and screaming for the Tigers. Man it really is a sad, sad day in Tigertown these days.

Did you hear the stadium rockin in the South Florida/WV game? Thats how its supposed to be and thats home field advantage. We've got too many old people going to the game like its some type of social event not a football game.

is there sure is a lot of negativity on this site. Is this all due to your team not winning? These are young men playing and most of you folks are worried about a won-loss record, I feel sorry for you. Every team can't win every game. Everything is cyclic in nature. I have heard or read on this site mostly negative replies, everything to a player chosen to be captain and shouldn't have, coaching, away announcer, etc etc. Now you want to complain about old folks. Many of those old folks are there because they are diehard Tiger fans, I am sure some are on a fixed income, a lot of them have physical impairment and so on, but by God they are there weekly and some on here want to slam them. Hopefully when you get there are you will be still walking, let alone being able to jump up and down and hollar.. And what if it is a social event for them, how many days on earth might they have left. I feel sorry for a lot of you. Sorry for the rant. Best of luck for the remainder of your season:wtf:

Couldn't agree more. I had to actually go back and see what he was talking about concerning the "old people". Had I zeroed in on it when it was written I would have responded. After reading this post, however, mine couldn't do it the justice trooperden's post did. Suffice it to say, this IS the post of the year.

Great post!! I would NEVER talk about our older fan base and they held this program together when us under 40 didn't care or was away in the service, college, careers, etc,... it is every resident in the city's team and must never forget that as players, coaches, fans, whatever! Thanks for the post of the year from an outsider looking in! Every team has down years and bounce back---we just have to mix the pot again and fix the problems!

BTW---Walt is the best announcer in the business!!!

Obiefan---Walt back in the day would say "And heres the Tigers"

I had to go back and see what the old people comment was referencing to. Ok Massillon Catholic, you need to apologize to all these fine old people who come to the games religiously, spend their money, and SHOW their support by filling up some of those seats that would otherwise be many empty spots throughout our stadium. God bless them that they still give a damn and even risk their health by venturing out and climbing all of those stairs to do their part to uphold the tradition:angel:

Don't forget that they were more than likey young like the rest of us were when they first started attending. And who are any of us to say that at a certain age they should cease to give up going to something that they love?

Thanks for bringing this and the rest of your post to our attention trooperden. And hopefully opening some eyes.

Some people take the game way too seriously and are way too quick to criticize those who sacrifice the most.

Well, those 1,000 catholic kids may have made a lot of noise but they must lose their voices after they graduate because that adult section didn't let a peep out of 'em. There were no cheers of any kind coming from the adults. I don't think you could say that about our adult section. And isn't that Byers Stadium something else---most of the sections are in the dark!

And the remark made on here about "the old ginks." Well, a lot of those "old ginks" are better, more devoted fans than the young people. Look at the pages of donors to this program that come from the "old ginks." Take them out of the stands and out of the special booster section and where would this program be? Paul David would be classified as an "old gink," wouldn't he?

Kenny M.
10-04-2007, 08:41 PM
I agree. The "old ginks" comment was really disrespectful -- especially, when these folks are the ones who have supported our program for years.
