Just featured on 19 Action News. The owners of The Strip Shopping Center have said NO to Hooters replacing Joe's Crab Shack. They feel it is wrong being there is a Chuck E. Cheese in the center. Hopefully this leaves the door open for Massillon. Your Thoughts.

I have to agree with the property owners on this one Carle. If the building was at the other end of the plaza and not right next door to the Chuck E. Cheese, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I can understand why some might object to that.
But many Chuck E Cheese locations are not exactly safe. Many of them sell alcohol, which has led to problems.

Seriously...Every Hooter's I have been in is filled with families and kids.
ChuckECheese prolly objected to the competition for the family outings.
The only time Hooter's is predominately male seems to be in the middle of the afternoon when the golfers stop by.

Even if it is always predominantly male, it's not like it is a strip club.

Stereotypes. Yup.... all Pollaks are stupid, Scots & Jews are cheap, and Hooters girls are "ho's".
It seems folks who've NEVER been in a Hooters believe it to be of a "night-club" atmosphere and the waitresses are "strippers" or prostitutes. Yeeeesh!!
I took my whole dang family to the Boca Raton FL Hooters back in '91; the kids were 5-9 years old at that time. Even the wife commented on how good the wings were, the cleanliness of the place, & the good service. Since then, we'd have many family birthday gatherings (aunts, uncles, & grandparents) at the Cleveland Flats Hooters ... before it closed.
My nearest Hooters, now, is in Spokane WA... and it's also got a casino!! (It's not nearly as lavish as the one Dawgh8r visits in LasVegas, but it's OK.)
My husband and I went to the Hooters in the Flats before it closed and there were people there with their children. I didn't think it was that bad and the service and wings were good.
I think the Quaker Steak & Lube wings are okay. Not that good to me. We went to PA to get them and I wasn't crazy about them. Hooters wings are better. Just my opinion.

The place is run with class and the dont put up with anything from rowdy customers. The girls wear nothing more or less than your daughter would wear to her high school cross country meet. Its not a big deal. I smell dirty politics here. Oh well, plenty of room in Massillon.

Son, someday I would like to meet you and teach you about the message of life. If that is humanly possible. And please TELL me what messages they are sending at Hooters. I know three of the guys that started the damn thing. PLEASE tell me what their message is so I can let them know they were all wet while playing poker thinking this up.
But hell, what do I know? I don't have coffee with Coach Stacy mornings after games. And by the way, have you been to any mall or beach? Do you HONESTLY believe that what is going on at Hooters or The Wing House is worse than that? Once again, the clueless one speaks. And the fact you have the genius Chronic agreeing with you just validates my point even further.

The PC society that is being created is the bigger problem in this country.
PC has nothing to do with it. Hooters and what it represents is inconsistent with the values that I am teaching my children about gender roles, objectification of women, treating others with respect, that people's real value is what's inside of them, not what they look like, etc. That's all.
For me and my family, supporting that particular business would send a confusing mixed-message to the young people in my family. I can go lots of places and get better food and not dilute the values we believe in as a family.
Adults, who have already chosen their value system, can go wherever their conscience leads them. My primary responsibility right now is in raising my children in the best way possible.

So girls that wear shorts and low-cut blouses are being "objectified"? And what do you call girls that wear bathing suits at the beach? Or are you a Puritan and have never been to one. Refrain? Absolutely not. I'm going to CONTINUE to call you out and challenge the lunacy that you try to spew here on MP.COM. So girls that wear shorts and low-cut blouses are being "objectified"?
No......BUT when they are hanging out of those shorts and low-cut blouses to attract customers and standing under a sign that says "Hooters" I would argue that they are being objectified. They are called Hooter girls and have a calender and magazine for a reason.....the reason genius is that they are being objectified for profit! I dont have a problem with this place as an adult venue but I would never take children in that place. God forbid my daughter has any aspirations to be a Hooter girl.....
On another note I kinda think its funny that the sideshow of women actually attracts people to pay a high price for mediocre food and beverages....
Now stop with your lunacy its not like the beach or the mall. If you feel comfortable taking children to a place named after a set of woman breasts...more power to you...its just not something I would do.

I think you need to review the difference between the active and the passive voices. Nothing is being done to these girls - it's being done by these girls. That makes them willing participants in a marketing strategy. Like the girls in a Snap-On Tools calendar - and I don't notice anyone calling for a boycott of vice grips.
I would also say that the "girls wear less at the beach" argument is a bit shallow as well. It's akin to saying that it's OK to punch your wife because some guys shoot theirs. Point being, it's a question of absolute - and not relative - propriety.

I think that you are comparing apples to oranges. Some folks on here made mention of the fact that the clothing worn by the servers at Hooters is not something that children should see. All I said was that when you take your family to the beach, waterpark or amusement park for a vacation, the females are wearing alot less. Is that OK for kids to see?
