$2.29 at the station in Belden Village. (corner of Everhard and Dressler, across from The Pub.) By the way, anyone see the news on the major oil find in the Gulf of Mexico by Chevron? Should ease supply constraints soon.

From the Wall Street Journal:
By Joseph Schuman
Of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL ONLINE
BRUSSELS (Dow Jones)--Probing deeper beneath the sea than they ever have before, three energy companies Tuesday announced discovery of a new font of oil under the Gulf of Mexico that could become one of the biggest domestic petroleum sources for the U.S. The announcement - with consequences more potential than proven - coincides with a Labor Day move by President Bush to link jobs to energy supply.
Chevron Corp. (CVX), along with partners Devon Energy Corp. (DVN) and Statoil ASA (STO), said it has completed production tests on its Jack well, which lies under 7,000 feet of water and more than 20,000 feet under the sea floor. The production of the site 270 miles southwest of New Orleans paves the way for developments that could become the biggest new domestic source of oil since the discovery of Alaska's North Slope, The Wall Street Journal reports. Chevron and Devon have estimated that this layer of ancient rocks - called the lower tertiary - could hold more than 3 billion barrels of oil and gas and perhaps as much as 15 billion, the Journal says. The production test also could open developments for companies that hold federal leases in other parts of the region, including BP PLC (BP), Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM), Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA, RDSB) and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (APC). Still, the Journal notes, the potential amounts of new petroleum wouldn't come close in size to fields in the Middle East or even Mexico, and "won't usher in an era of plentiful, low-priced oil."
The economic threat of high-priced oil was a focus of Bush's sole public event on Labor Day, an address at a Seafarers International Union training facility - the Paul Haul Center for Maritime Training and Education - on the Chesapeake Bay. "We got to do something about energy, in order to make sure that we're competitive, that this economy will remain strong, that people are able to find work," he said. "But one thing is clear, is that dependence on foreign oil jeopardizes our capacity to grow. I mean, the problem is we get oil from some parts of the world and they simply don't like us. And so the more dependent we are on that type of energy, the less likely it will be that we are able to compete, and so people have good, high-paying jobs."

Good story TigerCoach. The only downside is it will take at least four years for any of that product to show up at the pumps. When that happens it should put serious economic pressure on other oil exporting countries.
