It is being reported that Greg Oden is likely to miss his rookie season due to cartlidge damage in his knee discovered during exploratory surgery.

Thats why if my son was in his situation last year or any 1st round pick in any sport-------TAKE THE MONEY!!! You never know when its your last play.

He can pay for 20 degrees with his signing bonus!!

Greg Oden, the Portland Trail Blazers franchise cornerstone and No. 1 overall draft pick, will likely miss the entire season after undergoing microfracture knee surgery Wednesday, the team announced.
Microfracture surgery involves drilling tiny holes in the bone to stimulate the development of new cartilage. It was devastating news, however, for a franchise that had tied its resurgence to Oden's arrival.
The Blazers said Oden, who had the surgery on his right knee, was expected to be on crutches for up to eight weeks and that typical recovery time takes between six and 12 months....
