Although he’s in the middle of football season, Michael Porrini felt the time was right Sunday afternoon to make a decision about his basketball future.

After being recruited by several mid-major programs such as Cleveland State, Robert Morris and Arkansas-Little Rock, the 6-foot-2 senior point guard verbally committed to Western Carolina University.

Mike is an outstanding basketball player. His skills are soaring. I think he doubled his ability to play the game over the past year and he's probably going to keep that going. His senior season as a Tiger will get him more recognition and accolades. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he's going to a Big Ten school after this 06-07 basketball campaign. Maybe it's a biased opinion, but I just want to see him on the grand stage. He deserves it!

Mike is rated the #1 point guard in the stat of Ohio by rivals.com now that "OJ" is gone! I think the tigers will be a very strong b-ball team if gamble, mcguire, and daily play this year as planned!! I will predict columbus bound if that occurs!!!
