I know, I know....the Browns suck and so does Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson. I want Quinn to come in and kick some butt, but it ain't gonna happen against the teams we play early this season. It's obvious after the outcome of today's game that this team is still nowhere close to being ready to compete for the playoffs. So, keep Quinn out until he can be put in games when he has a chance to succeed.

I can see it now and it's just like Tim Couch in '99. We got crushed at home by the Steelers, the fans went nuts, and we put Couch in too early and ruined his career.

Stay patient, we've sucked since '99, what's one more year?

Especially since he'll have to learn a new offense after they fire Crennel.

I'm thinking three more games for Quinn to appear.

Firing Crennel would be the WORST thing to do... The program needs stability! I thought they should have put Quinn in the 4th Quarter, when the Steelers put in the 2nd String Defense, just to get a little bit of NON PRESSURED experience. The game was lost, no one is expecting them to come back from that far behind, so why not?

How stable is a program that sucked last year, one week before the season the head coach is going to flip a coin for his starting QB, and you get torched 34-7 by the Steelers? I don't get that one.

I would expect to see Quinn somewhere around the week after the bye. The Browns early part of the schedule, minus the Raiders, is tough. There's no sense in destroying his confidence on a team that we all knew was not a playoff contender.

I hope to see Brady Tyler Quinn in November, when he comes to black and gold country! The Steelers are going to lay a mighty, overpowering, noticeable, tough, empowered, meaningful, crazy, great, ultra, intense, royal, effective whipping on him!

Go Steelers!

Bernie Kosar was just on Tony Rizzo's show. He said the Browns have everything to lose and not much to gain by starting Quinn too early. He said he hopes the Browns have learned from what happened to Couch that patience is the key. Although if Derek Anderson goes out and lays an egg, don't be surprised to see Quinn in the game.

Bernie also explained why he has wanted to have a greater role with the Browns but has been unable to do so.

Bernie Kosar couldn't even beat John Elway when it counted!

The gall of him......(though I'll give him that he was a part of two world championships with the Dallas Cowboys).

the conservative approach is to sit quinn. and it won't hurt. but, NO WAY is this the same situation as in '99. ...imho...the browns are not nearly as bad as they played vs the steelers. don't get me wrong they were BAD sunday...but, it's NOT '99.

there is actual talent on the browns roster... just young. the O-line needs time to gel... it will get better. i thought the O-line was a victim of frye's poor reads, and inability to throw the ball away. the recievers NEVER had a chance with either frye OR anderson, because of their inaccuracy.

...AND (most importantly)...jamal lewis & the running game was basically null & void after the early hole.

lastly...comparing couch & quinn is night & day. couch played in a dink&dunk offense and NEVER had experience in a pro-style offense. couch's arm was suspect from the beginning!! he also had ZERO big game experience.

quinn was mentored by weiss...had the benefit of a pro-style offense...has a strong arm and can make all the throws....AND had BIG GAME experience in college, not to mention was under the microscrope at ND from day one.

quinn will be a success...the browns should pull the trigger NOW.

it worked out well for vince young last year...

No but he could beat the STEELERS from 1986 to 1989 we won 27 -24, 37-31,34-10,19-13,23-9.27-7,51-0,and lost 17-7. not to bad.

Thats not really saying much. John Albert Elway, Jr. might be the best quarterback in NFL history.

Also, I think Quinn should sit out. Maybe get some mop up time here and there in the 4th. Then get the starting nod week 6 with miami coming to cleveland. The bye week is week 7 so that would give Quinn more time to go over film from his first start.

geezus... but, you got my overall point. :stars: ...didn't you? this is NOT the couch situation.

FWIW...VY prospered as a rookie...as well as Ben Roethlisberger, who STARTED in the SECOND week of his rookie year.

I got your point...I still think he shouldn't start until after the bye week. Outside of the Bengals, all the teams we play until the bye have top 10 defenses, including the Raiders. Just sit him out until the bye, then you have 2 full weeks to get him ready.

I get your point. But the historical list of successful NFL rookie QB's is short.
