View Full Version : Meaning and Intensity

I do not know who should be playing what position and I do not know how good we really are I do know one thing in my observances over the years.

1. Even if you date back to the 2005 season when we played for the state championship, that team was not enourmously loaded with talent but one thing they had was heart and determination. The 2005 team as well as many others had just that. Lets face it, the thing that makes our small district comptetitive against the big boys is meaning. 85% of the 2005 team was overmatched the majority of the time but when they were on the field it meant something to them. Growing up, it is a dream for our kids to play at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. That is the thing that also gets messed up when these high profile transfers come in. I will leave it at that.

2. Also , losing Coach Babics and Coach Garcia hurt us as well. I know they were replaced by as knowledgable, if not more knoweldgable coaches in cheeca and rose. but the one thing that was not replaced was the intensity they brought to the field. Their presents lighted sparks in not only their position players but also many other positions as well. You think GlenOak's early success is because of all talent, no way, Coach Garcia has brought the intesity to Plain Local.

Just a side note, Checca is as intense as any coach we have had here in a long time.

I agree and a damn good coach that will definitely go to battle for his players. I only used Babics as an example because his name was mentioned.

We need intense coaches. We need intense TIGERS.

I agree 100% but its only his first year as a tiger coach coaching massillon kids so I don't think he's been around the "massillon" kid long enough yet. But if he stays on Im sure he and Kovacs will be just fine, intensity wise!

I doubt there is any lack of intensity with Kovacs on the field. That's just my opinion from personal experience. I've heard Checca can hold his own as well.

That's 3 of us! Now if I can just get someone to write something in the forums I'd be all set! I suppose I could do a better job of making more interesting threads though.

Be careful about what you wish for.

It takes four of us watching almost around the clock to keep this place under control.

One thing about that 2005 team. Every player, with the exception of Yoder that played was a Tiger from 9th-12th grade. Now, that entire senior class with the exception of maybe 2 guys at the most and the addition of guys like BG, Dailey, McGuire, Colly, Huth and Shane. EVERY single one, grew up and was raised in Massillon on Massillon football. I'm talking about from elementary school all these kids in both the senior and junior class knew each other and had a bond of working towards a common goal.

This is true. I see a lot being mentioned by present players as Massillon football being a "brotherhood", but these kids actually knew what that meant:tig:

I posted this back in July in response to the "transfer question"

What do you think makes a true TIGER?

40 yd dash speed?
1000 yd rushing seasons?
Winning the big game with a great play??
Having a D1 Scholarship under his arm??

Or is it a kid who, from age 1 has dreamed of stepping on that field? He may not be a star, but he works his ass off in the classroom and keep his mouth shut while he waits his turn, quietly outworking everybody else on the field. A kid that BLEEDS ORANGE AND BLACK, who wakes up the morning of the Mck game, and has that pit in his stomach that only a TRUE TIGER can have. A kid that thinks the world will end if we lose THE GAME.

Give me that kid. At the end of the day, he will run through a brick wall to stop Mck on 4th and 1.

I agree. I have no problems w/ transfers. That is life today. You must play your best players. But "all things being equal" according to our coach, you choose the younger kid, ie qb in this case. #1 - I play the senior. #2 - I play the kid who came up through the system. Just imo - I think it helps w/ leadership & chemistry.

Disclaimer: I do trust Stacy's opinion more than my own, but I cant help offering it anyhow. I couldn't coach a midget league team, and I honestly cant tell which qb is better. :)

I don't know which QB is better, either. But, I can tell you that playing one QB (either one) is better than rotating every play.
