A plane full of heroes will take off from Akron-Canton Airport on Saturday. The 92 veterans from Northeast Ohio, most of whom served in World War II, will fly to Washington, D.C., to visit the World War II memorial and several others. They will return home late that night. The trip is part of a nationwide nonprofit program called Honor Flight, started in 2005 by Earl Morse, a Dayton retired Air Force captain and physician's assistant.
