Seriously, I know Normandy is in Parma and once in a blue moon you hear someone from the area refer to it as Parma Normandy, it's part of the Parma school system, Parma Sr and Valley Forge are the other schools. But Parma and Normandy are different schools. My nephew went there and he seemed a little miffed about it, lol ....Of course he responded by asking me "We're playing Massillon Perry right?" Don't be suprised if there's a few signs on Friday like that...He also said, "hey you guys call it Nordonia and not Macedonia right?" for those of you who remember the infamous Nordonia who game... kids....

Well, Joe Eitel lists it as PARMA NORMANDY, and so does my schedule.

Why would they call us Massillon Perry ?? :wtf: Must be STOOPID !! We are Masillon Washington. That would be the same as us calling them PARMA NORMANDY. CORERECT ?? There is no Normandy , Ohio. So they take the name of their city added to the name of their high school.

Kinda like Uniontown Lake.

Canton and GlenOak are 2 different teams, but the Eagles are always called Canton GlenOak.

This might be the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

If your nephew needs any more lessons, tell him to log on !!

Besides, they have more to worry about than what we call them !!

He was calling us Massillon Perry tongue in cheek, because we were calling them Parma. Parma Normandy is correct, just most people around here drop the Parma maybe becaue they don't feel like they want the stigma of Parma attached to them.
By the way which team from Parma knocked us out of the playoffs in the
70's? Was it Padua or Parma Sr.?

Padua, led my Big Chuck Shodowski's son. STILL eats me alive when I think about it.

Parma Sr. almost ruined a Tiger state and national title team back in '61 in the next-to-last game of the season at the old stadium on the lake (now in the lake). Parma led 20-8 at half but the Tigers came back to win 21-20. I believe it was aa game that many Tiger fans thought the Tigers should win handily, just like I'm seeing here and now.

Of course, as CarlE painfully recalls, Padua DID ruin our season in '79.

I don't know if Valley Forge and Normandy always existed as separate schools or split off of Parma Sr.

lol, I don't think they really are, You know there were always the ghoul and ghoulardi taking shots at parma... It's really a nice area like you said, so is the surrounding area, Seven Hills, Independence etc... Funny though, you can still see some chrome balls and pink flamingos every once in a while in the front yard...

Valley Forge and Normandy are seperate schools and never were split off from Parma Senior. They were both built in the 60s to relieve overcrowding at Parma Sr. as Parma's population was growing rapidly at the time

Yeah they do look like Hoover. Their coach is an interesting guy. When he took over they were constant doormats, 2-18 the two previous years and that had been the way it was for that school. Anyway, the new coach comes in from Florida and they go 4-6 that year, then 8-2, 8-2 and 6-4 and 2-0 this year, so he pretty much walks on water there..

Thier corners are both 6'6." You don't see that often in high school football. I also see they have a Galetti on the roster. Is he related to the Cleveland sportscaster?

Parma Normandy is not correct. It is simply Normandy High School. The building is located within the Parma City School District which encompasses three different cities so somebody thought to call it Parma Normandy so people would know in what city the school is found.

There is no stigma about Parma. If anything, there is a rivalry with Parma Senior High just because they are a district rival.

He is the son of Chuck Galeti, the sportscaster.
