"Coaching and athletic staff said Sunday that while they routinely check the eligibility of players, the student had transferred into the district and McKinley had not yet received his official transcript."

Why play the kid if you're not sure? They were going to pound that team, with or without him.

With Mckinley starting off their season 0-2, that just means they are going to fight even harder for the rest of their wins. Also, the suspended player will possibly be able to play in their last game of the season....mass vs. mck

If the roles were reversed, it would be spun into something huge.

Seen it happen before, where an underclassman gets in for those 1 or 2 plays at "mop-up" time, and then they find this out. Obviously didn't make a difference in the game, and costs them a 'W'.

That sux !

McK transfer? I thought all their players were just coming home?lol! It serves them right all the crap they talk about Mass transfers. You get what you give.

Well, was this "transfer" a good player? Some secretary at the school will probably be reamed for not checking this kid's academic records. When did this kid transfer? Why on earth wouldn't his records have been transferred sometime during the summer? And not wait until the season actually started.

BTW, what did everyone think of TP's column -- where he said that the Tiger players acted like they didn't even like each other??!

Shouldn't the KID know if he's eligible ????:oops2:

Not necessarily. And it's really up to the oversight of adults.

I still don't know why you'd play a transfer (even for one play) if his transcripts weren't in order. Especially against the Detroit team that McKinley's freshman team would've beaten? Why take that chance when you don't have to do so? Cross is taking the fall but who's to blame?

In a blow out game it is very easy to grab a player and tell him to go in etc.

I have more a problem with the player being dressed on the sidelines.

Exactly. Until those transcripts are confirmed, you'd think they wouldn't dress.

If he's ineligible because of grades at McKinley my friend the chances are REAL good he can't read the rules of eligibility.

Carle maybe that's the reason why they got him. Because he couldn't read.

Maybe he was supposed to transfer to Massillon, but couldn't read the map:thumbsup:

Maybe McKinley is hiding something bigger and is using this incident to cover it up? Hmmmmmmm.......:suspect:

Logic dictates that if you don't have his transcripts, you don't dress him. :oops2: Shouldn't have been an issue.

Maybe it was a way for them to get their butt spankin from this past weekend out of the headlines.
