Reading these posts, I come away thinkin that we have a lot of fans making some good sense and a lot of support out there

It's like this - It's kind of strange, but I feel more optimistic about our squad after the Solon game. We went heads up with a hell of a team, AND, we have more potential to grow and jell than Solon!

I'm gonna take my hat off to the D right now... we got a lot of straight up heart and soul-type players, especially Hildreth! It's our O's turn to get back on track this week and they will! it's on!

(Adapated from "Moon over Solon")

"Move over Parma, bring a Tiger victory to me tonight.
Guide us back to Massillon, a win with Tiger might.
A victory stolen, aww forget about Solon. Move over Parma, tonight!"

Seriously, I hope they don't take anyone lightly. Go Tigers, beat the Invaders!

It's actually Parma Normandy, but they are indeed the Invaders. Normandy is a decent Division 2 team that's slowly building a fine program under a dynamic young coach. I believe one can safely say that Normandy is now a consistent playoff team, but they're really stepping up a level this week. I don't think they've ever seen the likes of Massillon.

I believe the Tigers will win this one without much trouble.

BTW-I'd like to express my thanks to the Massillon fans who graciously complimented Solon's defensive play and its marching band. I'll relay the message to some of the band parents. They'll be thrilled.

What is your deal with the coaching staff? I have no doubts about Stacy's play calling in the least. The guy knows his stuff. Besides, it wasn't his fault we couldn't get the ball into the endzone after being 1 cm away - I don't care if he ran up the middle with our 270lb. fullback - if our kids can't get 1cm I don't think it's the coaches' fault. That's just my opinion. How about a certain dropped pass down the middle? WIDE OPEN. Right in the kids' chest. Stacy can't go in there and make the catch. We just had too many player-controlled errors...and that happens...they're teenagers....but Stacy can call the best plays ever devised - if the players don't make the play, it doesn't matter.

You might be the biggest armchair QB/armchair coach I've ever seen. It's comical. I'm excited about this season.

The way I see it, if our kids can play that bad and make that many mistakes and still only lose to SOLON (a very very good team) by a late TD with 3 minutes to go - we are in good shape.

I can't wait till our Tigers go to the State Championship game and win it all this year. I'll be sitting here waiting for you to eat some crow or hop on the bandwagon....

As far as the playbook goes...Coach Stacy (and I'm just guessing here) probably has in what our kids can handle mentally. I know that's a shocker for some of you to consider, but it's probably the case. He had no trouble putting up points on previous Tiger squads, or at Akron, or in his previous stint at Massillon.....all of a sudden you think he can't call plays. GET REAL.

Be positive or go away - kids read this stuff you know.

I remember one of coach Bruce's first Booster club meeting that dealt with the subject of declining numbers because of Perry(1957?) and Tuslaw(1961) high schools being recently built. There were many who said we are on the decline and will probably never again win a State championship; his response was, poppycock. He said in essence, "I'm here to tell you all that we are Massillon and we WILL win, period. If small numbers is one of the culprits, Central must have many students hidden away somewhere.

please do that.

going to games all my life and playing in the mtsb for 4 years, that's always been one of my favorite things about this town.

the massillon crowd knows a good band when they see one, and aren't afraid to show it simply because they're from the school we're playing football against that night.

count me as one of the appreciateurs. solon's band sounded great.

i work with a couple local h.s. bands during the summers, teach lessons to beginners all year round and am a strong proponent/defender of music education in the public schools, which seems to be alive and well in your district.

oh...and yeah, your defense was pretty good too.

sorry to go off topic, beat parma!

You guys have one of the best defenses I've ever seen.So quick to the ball and the way they closed those gaps up.I wish I could see you guys play Mentor this week.Bart Tanski is a very dangerous running Q.B.and it will be interesting to see how Solon's defense reacts to him.Good luck the rest of the year.

I agree with tbone and Rush. You guys just had the better team last week and we tip the hat to you and look forward to playing you guys again either sometime this your or next year at your place. Best of luck the rest of the season and god bless you.
Wish your band could come back for our annual Band Review Show later this season. You guys are awsome. Shame our High School Tv channel had to not show your halftime show.

The band really was awesome, looks like they have alot of fun out there...seemed like the visitors side was pretty filled with solon fans, that was cool too. Hope we play next year, Solon has a really good facility and have restrooms for the visitors as well, that's always nice...

Scattered thunder storms are expected to move in the area tonight. The Weather Channel says it will be about 10 PM. Bring the rain gear just in case, but hopefully the game will be over before they move through.

The largest high school scoreboard in the country at the time of purchase. Byers Field also has new restrooms, locker rooms and running track. Look for live game broadcasts in the next few years on PACT TV, the district's cable station.
