Union announcers keep talking about how there aren't many McK fans at the game.

There usually isn't, except for Week 10

My crew just got home and said that the McK fans that were there left before halftime and didn't even stay to see their own band's show.
They said that there were probably even more people from Massillon at the game than Canton:tounge:

Will there be more Lake fans then Mckinley fans on Friday night?

It is a shame, in such a big game, withe National exposure, against someone who claims to have a bigger rivalry than Mass-McK, that the McK fans can't even show up to make a stand for their boys.

They couldn't run, they couldn't throw and they couldn't punt. Defense wasn't horrible, but I expected much more than this from them as a team.

Everybody that was complaining about some of Massillons fans leaving with a few minutes to go should have been at this one.At halftime,Union 24,McK 0,and the mighty boodawg fans were streaming out of the gates. They didn't even stay to watch Script Ohio.By the fourth quarter, the home side was just about empty. Now,does anyone think they gave a rat's a$$ about what their team thought when they looked up to see empty stands and zero support?:jestera:

The crowd was announced at 8-thousand. Someone in attendance said that by halftime, the crowd was less than half that.

On the Mckinley website Dave Dawg has Mckinley's record at 0-2 with a 6-0 forfeit to Detroit Pershing. Anyone hear anything about this??

From Todd Porter's prep notes column today:
"Trotwood-Madison, near Dayton, is at the center of an Ohio High School Athletic Association recruiting investigation. The Dayton Daily News reported last week that a number of inquiries prompted the investigation. "It seems like, in the last 10 days to two weeks, a number of issues have been raised," OHSAA Commissioner Dan Ross told the paper. "We'll have somebody in Southwest Ohio talk to a number of schools. With the number of recent inquiries, we just felt it's imperative we send someone to check these issues out." Trotwood had a half dozen players transfer in after last season, all seniors. One came in from Columbus Linden McKinley, another from Lima. Last year, Trotwood had seven transfers who were starters. The investigation could be over by midseason, but typically if there is any fire in this smoke, it will drag on. "A whole lot of that depends if there are further issues," Ross said. "Further places to go, more people to talk to."
Ross confirmed to the newspaper that another school, not in Southwest Ohio, is being investigated for recruiting.
PAPER WORK
Since the nature of high school athletics, specifically football, has changed and so many more student-athletes transfer, there almost is always a school or two that ends up forfeiting a game because it didn't dot every I and cross every T on a transfer. Surely, you'll read about a school in Ohio losing a game it won - and it would have won anyway - because it used an ineligible player.
Some schools get so many transfers they almost need a full-time employee to do the paperwork."
The entire column can be read here.

Did TP catch wind of something or is he simply reporting something that was reported in southern Ohio days ago?

I'm not going to read too much into this. I'll wait for an official explanation. It could be nothing.

The site (http://cantonmckinley.com/schedule.php) now says "Forfeit due to an inelligible player". Perhaps he doesn't know that a forfeit is 1-0.

LTFT: You forgot to include your normal TP disclaimer with your post.

There is also a post in the McKinley forums that would seem to confirm the forfeit:
"Yes, we have forfeited the game against Pershing. Coach Cross and the superintendent just got done meeting with the Repository. We played an ineligible player in the Pershing game. The fact that he was not eligible was not discovered until after the game. McKinley turned itself in to the OHSAA as soon as the mistake was found. Coach Cross has taken full ownership and responsibility for this situation and it has been dealt with in a very transparent, forthright, and professional manner. If The Rep does not post an update on their website today you can for sure plan on reading the details of the issue tomorrow."

Ooops, what what I thinking? "The usual TP disclaimer applies."
To the newbies, that means Todd Porter could be wrong, and often is. But the part I quoted was already reported days ago by abother news agency. So it has some credibility.

Wow. What will that do to their season? Some would say, "who cares?" But I'm also thinking of the point implications for the Tigers down the road. You never know what could happen.
The Tigers just need to keep winning each week and the computer will take care of itself.
