it was so amazing how many actually did not stop talking when the asked for a moment a silence. even many adults could not keep their moths closed. not a good example to the students. and we wonder why kids are the way they are today? bc the adulats have no respect either!!!

cheers to the mtsb. looking good!

jeers to the middletown qb who, down 41-14 in the 4th and playing against the tiger 3rd string gave the ol' number one sign to the stands and strutted the last couple yards into the end zone. what a chump.

tears because it was a freakin' sauna up in row QQ.

Jeers to posters who cannot type and use the English language in a manner in which it was intended. This is also a bad example for kids. I don't know about you, but it is no wonder to me why kids are the way they are today.

Jeers... Grammar nazis.

especially when the grammar nazis make grammatical mistakes as well. we're all guilty at some point.

There is a huge difference between making a grammatical mistake every now and then and having post after post so full of spelling and punctuation errors that it actually makes the reader dumber for having read it...

AGREED! Especiallly when one proclaims themselves to be amongst the top students of their graduating class. I would think that being one of the cream of the crop students, that correct spellling, grammar, punctuation, etc., would come second nature. If not, how do you get to be in the top percentile and not know how to spell or construct a simple sentence?

It is also a shame that some posters seem to think that proper use of English class skills is only meant for the classroom. Why on earth are we bothering to teach all of this if one isn't supposed to actually use what they have learned?

Well if u call being in medical school under achieving??? And a few miss spellings make you go this nuts? You really do need to get a life. Maybe if you would put some thought into what you say before you type you would'nt have so much poision in your blood stream. By the way, out of 985 students in my hight school, I graduated number 13. What was yours?

Please note, that flaboi said there were 985 students in his high school NOT his senior class. If his school is a 4 year school that makes the average class size of 246. Being ranked 13th, isn't a very big deal at all!

i also read that he stated that he was in the top 10% of his class. if he was 13 out of over 985, why not say you're in the top 2%? that sounds more impressive.

Cheers to Football season for finally starting!

Jeers to the father in front of us who was 3 sheets to the wind. He was apparantly a coach with the night off. Just guessing because he knew everything there was to know about how the team should be coached this year. 4 words...you're in my bubble.

Tears for the long bus ride back to Middletown

Go Tigers!

CHEERS to the MTSB for playing some of my very favorite songs from a great movie, "School of Rock"!

CHEERS to the Solon Band and their really entertaining half-time show!

JEERS to the fair weather fans who were leaving during the fourth quarter with many minutes still left in the game.....

JEERS to the Tiger players who threw down helmets and walked back to the locker room during the Alma Mater thereby displaying poor sportsmanship...

TEARS in downtown Massillon after our loss last night:cry:

This all comes from coaching or lack thereof. People can't expect team leaders to rise when there are no coaching leaders. This helmet throwing has gone on the last two years and Stacy has done nothing to correct it.

dude im going to have to disagree about the fair weather fan statement(i stuck it out btw lol)...
i know i have a sick and twisted world perspective, but in this case the players=leaders they are in charge they control the fans right the fans on the other hand= followers they are going to mirror what the leader does. if the leader gives up so do his followers and you could sense after that interception that the players had accepted defeat. i mean i could sense it from the players idk if you could or not....
but then again dont listen to me im wrong more often then not just thought i would throw my two cents out there (even if its not worth that much to you guys)

Until massillon fumbled the punt in the 4th quarter it was anyones game. I stayed and saw massillon deny solon a 2nd touchdown. The tigers gave the game away solon didn't beat us. How can u lose to a one dimensional team.

Well, if you were at the game you would know that Massillon had 107 TOTAL FREAKING YARDS. They didn't give anything away. They got beat.

EXACTLY!

Solon's offensive game plan (no matter how one dimensional) was better executed and the defense was smothering. Tip your hat to 'em and move on. We certainly failed to take advantage of our opportunities... but make no mistake, they flat out beat us.

CHEERS... for the extra fireworks display at the game on Friday!

(I did hear someone in the stands say,"Guess they had extras from the last two games!")

CHEERS... to the MTSB for the very neat half time show-marching as a hour glass with sand running out of it, a clock with hands showing 5:00 and then a setting sun!! If you watch the video screen on the scoreboard, you have a better view of the whole formations! Very cool!

CHEERS..for the much 'football like ' weather-cooler even though it did rain a little.

CHEERS..to the Tigers for a solid win.

I thought the Tiger Swing Band did very well Friday night. They are sounding and looking better with each week that passes by.

I dont know anything about how they go about getting kids signed up for band each year, but have a question. Do the band directors go talk to the Middle school students in order to get them to come up to the next level? Or make any effort to contact kids who have dropped out of band for some reason to try to persuade them to give it another shot at the highschool?
Just wondering if there is much effort put into the process of building up the number of band members. I am sure someone on here must know what the deal is.

When I was in school, the band director came to the grade schools starting at 4th grade.

Maybe the best PR people aren't the ones talking to our youth. Maybe we should put more time/effort/energy into actively "selling" our 4th & 5th graders on the football and band programs.

The number of participants seems to dwindle year by year.

I wholeheartedly agree and wonder what, if any effort or foresight is made in that direction?

I don't know what all has been done in years past, but I can tell you that Mr. Neel is investing a lot of himself into the Middle School program to grow the overall band from "the ground up". The administration is really supporting the directors' efforts - as I understand it, they totally revamped class schedules at the Middle School this year to benefit the program. About one third of this year's MSTB are freshmen, which speaks well of last year's efforts at the Middle School, and gives some real hope of future MSTB participation numbers raising significantly.

That is good to hear. I hope that this continues to be a successful approach in building up our band numbers. thanks for the info:thumbsup:

Cheers to the band -- they did an excellent job Friday night. The show was GREAT and the opening routine was really good too. They are definitely improving.

Loved it too that they played so much in the stands -- pumping up the fans and the team!!

I do have one suggestion though. Swing those horns more on Tiger Rag/Carry On. I see some swinging, but it could and should be a lot bigger…tubas, clarinets, trombones….everything. It makes it really impressive.
It’s all about the swing!!

Keep up the good work TSB!!!http://www.tigerswingband.com/images/stories/smBandObie.jpg
