Here we go already.

My guess is that it might have been part of the game plan.
Each week we will face a different defense. Each one of our 3 backs are all different in the way the run the ball. Depending on what kind of defense we face will be the deciding factor to who gets the ball the most.

Dont be to surprised if Turner doesnt get that many carries all season. He is a Junior and our other two backs are seniors.
I'm sure coach Stacy is only doing whats best for their future.
Devo is allready going to Ohio State. So I look for K.J. to get as many carries as possible to help grab some attention from some big schools.

That is not Stacy's job during the season. His job is to win football games for Massillon. Should he help kids get to college, absolutely, but to say that he should play this kid or play that kid to help him get to college is ludicrous.

im not so much worried about how many carries he gets, its the touches he gets. i do know this 1 catch for 4 yards is not enough touches for this stud.

Totally correct. We need to do a better job of getting all of our great athletes touches.

Seemed as though he had quite a few touches (on the ball carrier) on defense. :scratchchin:

Its by design. Turner really needs to focus on playing corner--we know he can catch and run. Stacy does not want to show the world what he has quite yet because we have bigger fish to fry besides Middletown! He will be a huge factor on offense as the season progresses.

I disagree, I think that J.Turner is being underutilized on the offensive side of the ball. An athlete like that, no matter where on the field, Running back or slot, should get 7-10 touch opportunities atleast.

If you remember last year, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO TREY MILLER.

Not to sound negative, but I would still like to see Turner at Safety. I think he would be the best Safety in Ohio.

I never said he was not under utilized but Stacy does not want to put all the scemes in lace for scouts to see right now. You have to save some stuff for future games. HE WILL GET THE ROCK but we needed to see how KJ and DT would carry the load. Next week against a solid Solon team we will see more packages.

I want to see all of the studs--JT, DT, and Kj on the field together for the entire game with G-Jack at the deep threat. ITS COMING SOON!

However I agree that last year STacy did underutilize JT, Darion, and Trey and it may of cost us some games!!! NEW YEAR and we are 1-0 looking for another "W" next week!

Yeah I think our Wide Receivers may be the best group in the state as well Giorgio has blown me away and Massey looks like a great deep threat with his break away speed and then you throw in Turner who looks like he could be lining up at flanker for the Dallas Cowboys.

Would everyone just chill the :furious: out! Monte knows what he is talking about. Take in what he has said and let this thread die. Turner is going to be huge for us this year!

1) Everything being equal, seniors get the early nod...as it should be.

2) With our depth at skill positions on offense, defense becomes the priority. Turner isnt being under used. He is being used where he is needed the most. As the cover corner, he is going to face every teams best reciever, which usually means one of the fastest and most athletic players on the field. It is best for the team if Turner is rested on offense to be able to be at 100% peak efficiency when playing defense.

One missed tackle by JT, one slip, one missed assignment due to fatigue, one mistake of any kind can cost us a ball game. Thats the way it is when you are a coverage corner.

3) I would have no gripes if Turner never played offense this year. Turner has another year to shine with the ball, but we have games to win this year and two other stellar RBs. If he or anybody else has a gripe, they should be informed that Willie Spencer (Sr) did not get touches as a junior, but was the AAA POY the next year. Tommy Hannon was a rotating blocking fullback as a junior, and often fumbled when he did carry the ball, but he was the AAA POY as a senior. They were both more needed in other capacities as juniors.

According, to Monte, Massey is our best "cover-corner"

Massey may have better technique but Turner is just a monster Id take them over and receiver in a one on one.

MC--- being a football guru(lol) I said he was one of the best corners in Ohio this year and I am right! You see where the ball is thown don't you!! At JT because he is the new guy--- Massey is/was all over the field on offense and defense!

Jt may well be better than Massey because of ht/speed in the long run at corner but offenses are not going to test Massey because he is seasoned and ready! We have 2 great corners right now and I am happy with that position for sure.

How many passes were thrown at K. Massey on Friday?-----1 and he broke up the play!

Yeah he didn't go after Massey much. The thing w/ Turner is his guy looks open but JT has that rare ability to play the ball, and has great closing speed. Sometimes you see corners who cover like a blanket but the receiver keeps making catch after catch. Pettis was late helping especially deep but he will learn.

As far as JT running the ball. We didn't need him there especially w/ that kind of heat & humidity. If I thought last week was the norm for the season I would be more upset about Torrence not on D. Hildreth had to go the lockeroom for an IV. I like to spread the ball around too but the thing w/ Torrence is he is so strong & keeps getting stronger, he wears out a defense. He is the type you want to give it to him 25 times.

Turner plays corner somewhat like D. Sanders did!! bait the QB into thinking the WR is open when he is really NOT!
Also---I told everyone DT was a load on the field and he will only get better and stronger as the season goes.

Thats how Travis was. Every game was better than the last. I expect you are right too since DT & the coaching are still just learning each other.

I hope the coaching staff learns soon that DT can also play LB and return punts in addition to RB. According to DT, while playing at South, it wasn't much differant than DI. I watched him three times at South and he never left the field.

I hear you. I was disappointed too but like I said w/ the heat & humidity and not really needing him, I understand. I am just hoping those were the reasons!

Travis wanted the ball every play and had a real sneaky strength to him that if you underestimated it you would be ran over but he preferred to run past defenders. Most of the games in 1991 was over by halftime so we never really got to see the total package.

DT is the same way but stronger--- I didn't say better but stronger!! I do feel if we give him the ball 20 times a game that the 1976 yards record will be HISTORY!!

Coach Stacy addressed that question this week. He said he has one back who's going to Ohio State and another who's a senior who has earned the playing time. He said Turner has developed into a solid defensive player. He said he talked to Turner and he was told that putting him on defense doesn't bother him. Stacy also said he will be attempting to get Turner more touches. It's truly a dilemma that every high school coach would love to have.

Am I correct in remembering that we tried a fade route to JT when we were on the goal line......I would count that as a touch, because 9/10 times that interference call actually gets called.

Definitely---every great tiger had to wait his turn to shine! just a few in the record books that I know 1st hand. Jerome Myricks had to wait until his senior year to play RB and played Flanker and corner before that. Jason Stafford spent his whole junior year blocking for Jerome at FB only gettin 4/5 carries a game. Travis and Falando alternated with James McCoulah(sp) there jr. year because james ws a senior! We always have very talented RB's in Masssillon and MORE coming up the ranks and sometimes you just have to wait your turn! Jt plays on both sides of the ball, already has 2 schollie offers as a DB, and will get his touches---so I agree that he needs to get a few more touches but we have only played one game. The way he played his 1st game he might want to consider playing corner at the next level. With his speed, HT, and athletic ability he could be a star at the next level at corner--anyway corners in the NFL makes just as much as RB's!!!

As much as we all want to see Turner run the ball, he has a chance to be a SICK corner. Size, speed, and crazy amounts of talent. His calling in college could be as a DB.

Turner reminds me of McFadden from Arkansas. Same running style, can catch out of the backfield and faster than they appear.
