Thanks for the update. Hildreth will deliver many death sentence shots during the 15 week season.

That's what we like to hear. Seeing as the one question mark was how the defense would come together, it's nice to see a shutout, even if it was a scrimmage. Fremont Ross is supposed to be a pretty good team this year with a lot of returning starters. The other question mark is the offensive line, how did they look???

35 - 0 is the correct score. I was at the game. Massillon's defense was in really good shape.

DeVoe Torrence had an amazing performance and from what I can see is the real deal.

Giorgio Jackson also another good performance at WR.

Chris Willoughby seemed decent at QB

Steve Schott missed a 30 yard Field Goal

Kevin Massey had a good performance

KJ Herring was very powerful.

Really missed meeting you at the tailgate. Maybe next time...

Sorry guys, I must have missed our last TD while I was looking for my son and his friend.

Willoughby and Clark shared the QB position and both looked sharp. The OL looked good for the most part. Just some crazy runs/moves by Devoe and JT, and KJ out ran everyone on his long TD run. Yoder had some crushing blocks and there were a lot of big hits delivered by our defense, especially from Hildreth, some of our underclassmen later in the scrimmage, and one big one from JT on Fremont's RB. Our defense looked solid all the way thru...and our WRs...Massey and Giorgio had some good open field runs after receptions.

I tried to make it to the Tailgate but I was running late as I needed to get some last minute things for the scrimmage, "Batteries and such" that I totally forgot.

Did you have a MassillonProud.com Sign on your truck? If so, I saw it when I was walking to the game.

.. i thought the Tigers looked GREAT... even our backups got in there and did a nice Job..

... JT had a REALLY nice long run for that last TD..

..and Kenny and Devoe made some of those Fremont kids look bad.. haha poor guys...

...I think after a final week of fine tuning.. we'll be ready to go for our home opener vs. Middletown.. it's going to be a very exciting ride.. I hope you all are ready!!

Well, I don't think we're going to have a problem with matching anyone's athlete's this year. LOL

We have some amazing talent on this team...you know the big names like Turner, Herring, Torrence, Jackson....but what stood out to me last night was that we have some fresh faces who REALLY brought it last night. TigerDon alluded to it in his story, it seemed like we came out a little nervous and unsure, but that was quickly tossed away. Hildreth, Pettis, Vargas, Yoder (as a fullback), Leno, Massey (as a receiver), Ivan.....all these really stepped up last night and look to be cementing their claim to playing time.

The lines.....I know, I know....that's what everyone wants to know. IMO, the O-line made good improvement over last week. We still don't have our full crop of lineman playing, but the guys out there still blocked well enough to average 10 yards a carry. There are some more things to be ironed out, such as better execution in goaline situations, but there has been marked improvement.

D-line was a little more difficult to tell because of the spread offense Fremont runs. There were a handful of big plays, but outside of that we had the game in control. I did not have a roster with me so it was a little difficult to see who all rotated in on the line, but they shuffled players in and out all night.

We'll have to see how well Fremont does in the regular season to gauge how good of a performance this was, but it was worlds better than last week against Perry. There is definitely reason to be very excited.

My observations about the scrimmage...

That three-headed monster in the backfield, WOW!

Yoder was fired up when he got off the bus.

That Jumbo package was a fun formation.

Hildreth was all over the place. Cooper Ivan was too.

It was good to see the intensity on special teams.

It was also good to see production from guys at unexpected positions (Massey at WR for example).

It was also good to see the potential in a few possible future starters (Grunder, Partridge, Leno, Love, etc.).

While you shouldn't get too "up" or too "down" from a scrimmage, the Tigers looked very sharp against what should be a very good team. IF this type of consistent effort can be shown, it could be a very good year.

Coach Marshall may not have a voice after telling the players to stay back on the white line.

I thought both sides of the ball played well. I still would like to see the qb get a series of their own to see who will stands out more. I like a qb who can run and make plays with his feet. I thought both qb's threw the ball well. I also like the second team full back. Shawn ? Clark, he had some very nice blocks. He will give Yoder a chance to catch his breath. Hildreth was devastating. He was all over the field. Kenny Pettis interception return showed his track speed once in the open field. Teams will find it very difficult to match our overall team speed. The catch that Kevin Massey had was spectacular as well. Go Tigers!:tig:

Vargas and Rose started at the linebacker spots. Rose played fairly well, alot better than the player that he replaced from the Perry scrimmage. On the D-line, I know that Yoder and Grizzard started, not sure who else though.

So Vargas, Rose and Irvin are the 3 LB's? I would have thought Torrence would have been a starter...Can anyone name the other two DL starters? Well, at least who were the other two two start in the last scrimmage, that's better ...Are Vargas and Rose really as big as listed? Those are some big LB's if it's correct...

In his article, Tiger Don called Chris Willoughby, "Tim" Willoughby...how ironic. Tim is the uncle of Chris, and Tim played on what team? Ahem, the 1970 Massillon Tigers...another loaded football team.

I like what I'm reading here (thanks for all the great info everyone) and what I'm hearing from a few people back there.

I have all the confidence in the world in this team but let's remember it is only August 19th so lets not start handing out any :no1: just quite yet. I think we all remember this same feeling last year after the Perry and Fremont scrimmages, so lets hope this team continues to get better each and every week, we dont want that overconfident factor coming into play this early in the season.

One of the starters was a junior and his name is Brian Arelt and he is listed at 6ft. and 202 lbs. They also play Shawn Arnold alot on the defensive line but because he is starting on the offensive line ,they are looking at a few others at that spot. They also change the front to 3 lineman and they seem to bring in number 34-JB Price at l.b. GO TIGERS

I was at the scrimmage at Fremont last year too and this was night and day better. We still had a ton of questions after that scrimmage....there were a lot of questions that seem to have been answered Friday night. Still more work to do, but we are miles ahead of last year at this point.

Go back to last year and read some of the posts or Tiger Don's story after the Fremont scrimmage, basically the same as what is going on right now people already handing them the :no1: I just dont want the kids to get this overconfidence because I think that is what happened last year.

I have to agree. After last years scrimmage with Fremont, I was VERY concerned about our defense, especially our linebackers and our pass defense. Fremont picked us apart last year.

Never said we are going to be handing the tropy to anyone. I simply said we are further ahead than at this point last year. Many questions seemed to have been answered since last week against Perry. I also said we still have work to do...we are not a finished product by any means, but if you were there you had to be very encouraged.

Spark, I wouldn't necessarily say that just yet. We had a bad showing at the Scrimmage, but there is a lot more that goes into an actual game then a scrimmage.

However, I was extremely IMPRESSED by Massillon's speed on Defense and also DeVoe Torrence show his true skills on why is he one of the top rated prospects in Ohio.

They lost their quarterback from last year. In my opinion, he was a HUGE reason for their success last season.

That is true, they had a few other skilled players on Offense that they lost to graduation too.

However, Coach Kidwell should have no problem producing another good Quarterback, as good as All State Quarterbacks Opelt and Ottney from 2005 and 2006? No, but good enough to compete.

I think this sound thumping is the wake up call Fremont needed. It is hard to repeat an undefeated season and this game let the Little Giants know there is tons of work to do. Good Point!!!

I think Schott missed this fieldgoal!!

This has been a problem this year. (Bobby Huth) was a great holder.

I can't believe the coaches can't find someone that can hold!!

If the snap is good and the hold is good, SCHOTT DON'T MISS!!

He's kicking from the 10 yard line, so I assume that it is an extra point - he made all of those.

The missed field goal was an attempt of 30 or 35 yards, if memory serves.

I've been out east (NJ) for a couple of months without internet . I have just returned and read a glowing report about the Freemont Ross scrimmage. How did the TIGERS fare in their other scrimmages? I will be at the first game and will expect to see an improvement in the O line from last season. (2006, too big and too slow). Live legs and upper body strength a must. Body weight not all that important. I'm anxious to see the 2007 TIGERS. GO TIGERS!!!

I also didn't watch TV (though they did have one) or read any newspapers. I read several good books and actually enjoyed the relative isolation. It's amazing how relaxing it is not to hear (or see) the depressing news that is usually associated with the Media. Well, how did they (the TIGERS) do in the other srimmages?
