If Ron01 were still posting on here I would predict a Hooters attached to a Steak-n-Shake. But since he doesn't, I'm not going to go out on a limb. Besides, I DON'T think that MTigers006 wants a Hooters in town.

I don't think there's enough space for anything other than a small convenience store or gas station?

It doesn't seem like there's enough space for a Cracker Barrel. They usually have a really large parking lot.

They have been doing work there. But I agree it doesn't look big enough for a Cracker Barrell. But with her "connections", maybe Massillon Mom already knows what's going there.

I'd rather go to the one in Cambridge than the one in North Canton.

You reopen Frieg's, and Bob Evans, Rockne's, and Menchinelli's will all go out of business.

I can't believe that the property will pass any EPA tests. Those tanks from Red Head were old. I believe that was why the city tried to off that land before.
What kind of bribe would it take to pass contaminated soil ???:sour:

The contaminated soil is/has been removed. That's what all the recent work on the site was about, Dawgh8r.

I say bring back the Red Head...I remember when their gas was 25 cents a gallon.

That's also when my first new car cost me $5000.

I knew that someone would be footing a hefty bill for that cleanup !! Old service station plots are a nightmare for landowners.

I was recently driving through Millersburg and saw a Red Head station there. I didn't know any still existed.

Removal of the top layer of soil will not remove the contamination. The water layer under the site contains the VOC's (volitile organic comtaminates). The water layer rises and falls along with the river depth. The VOC's float on top of the water layer. The water layer is about 18 feet below the ground level. As the river and the water levels rise the VOC's floating on top are absorbed into the ground. As the level recedes part of the contaminates are left behind in the soil. The process used by Ashland Oil for the past 15 years helped remove some of the ground pollution. It was replaced at the next high water incident.
I had relations with a few of these "Ground Water contaminate Removal Companys", I have a very low opinion of their business practices.
Sometime I will tell you about how one of these outfits charged Am Trac over $3.0 million for the emergency clean up of a very dangerous substance, just north of the Cherry Road Viaduct. I am embarassed to say, I helped.
The contaminate was "20,000 gallon of corn syrup."

Not the old Red Head Lot way too small for anything!
But the North corner where the old Progressive was now that could be used someday down the line.
