View Full Version : WHY IS IT?

Why is it, that whenever you give a store clerk a $20, $50, or $100 bill they always mark it with a pen to see if it is counterfeit, but when they give you your change for the $50 or $100 bill they don't mark it with a pen, so you know it's not counterfeit? PLEASE, somebody help me with this!

I wondered why they did that ... in any event, it seems it would slow things down and tick off customers.

Tick 'em off even more and take your own marker and check your bills when you get your change back.

In general, you look for the mark to turn black.

Maybe this is just my family and friends, but:

Why do you keep taking bread slices out of the bag and leave the 1st crust, only to throw away the two pieces of crust once you reach the last of the bread?

Hahahaha! We do it so that the bread between the crusts stays fresher:jestera:

If it stays black, then it is a real bill. If it turns brown, then it is not real.

Good thought voice, because I don't think the mark goes away, yet I don't remember every getting change back (like a $20) and ever seeing those black marks on it. I guess I use a debit card so much now though, that I don't see bills as much as I used to.

I can't recall a clerk marking a bill. But then I rarely have $50 and $100 bills in my pocket.

And as far as the end bread piece goes, I don't use it right away. Who knows why. It's a backup if needed when you get to the end of the loaf.

Ha ha...that drives me nuts.

Why is it that the shopping cart I get is always the one with the loud squeaking wheel or a wheel that won't turn? And for some reason the problems with the cart don't start until you are halfway into the store.

Because of the great tradition, and because of Bo, The winged helmets, The Victors, The winningest program in college football history, the fact that you can attend a game at the Big House as a visiting fan, and not have to fear for your life, and the fact that Michigan has as many outright Big Ten Titles since 1980, as THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY does since 1955!!!!

Why is it that able walking people think they have the right to park in a HANDICAPPED marked parking spot just because they have one of those blue cards hanging in their window that you can buy or pick up just about anywhere.

while i see a certain need for handicapped parking...why does there have to be so many of them?...

as for the ones able to walk, who have a handicapped sign in their car...for SOME (if the shoe fits scenero here) it is just plain laziness...they have gotten so big, they cant' walk the few extra feet they may need to...some of us, myself included, could use the exercise of walking a few feet to the door...

Put the blame on the MD's that write the scripts to obtain the handicapped sticker from the BMV

That also includes those lard a$$es that flatten the tires on the electric shopping carts and try to run over you at the grocery store.

I know paraplegic individuals that drive automobiles and RV's along with flying airplanes (all with hand controls). They cannot walk and their mobility is limited to a wheel chair. Don't you think they qualify as being handicapped?

They are defintely handicapped. And, that's why I say they shouldn't be driving. You can't honestly say that someone who is a paraplegic and uses hand controls has the same reaction time as someone who doesn't.

Too expensive.

Plus, using the hand controls would stop people from talking on their cell phone, drinking coffee, text messaging, putting on makeup, etc.

Couldn't they just make another hand control to hold the cell phone, hold the cup of coffee, and have audio text messaging?

I think that was the intent of "handicapped parking". I suspect that was a major reason why your grandmother didn't drive, but was still able to park close when your parents took her to the store.

I don't know if this is 100%... I was at a casino a few weeks ago and a guy got up from the table and went to an ATM machine to get some more cash to buy chips. When he sat down at the table he handed the dealer the $100 in $20's and asked for chips. The dealer called for a runner to get him a rack of chips. The runner came back to the table about 10 mins later with the pit boss only to be told that the money he gave he dealer was counterfit and they could not give him the chips. He told them he got the money from the ATM machine there at the casino. The pit boss told him there was nothing he could do. The guy asked for the $20's back and the pit boss told the guy by law he cannot return the money but would have to turn it in. So you never know....

DAWGH8R can probably clarify this more, but I would assume that the transaction at the ATM was on video-tape. If the guy didn't put his hand in his pockets, I'd say he has a legitimate beef. This also addresses my point on how do I know that when I'm getting change that the money I am receiving isn't fake money?
