Steely McBeem leads with force and intimidation!

MTown,
Let's leave the intimidation factor in you-know-where (no disrespect intended). I learned a great lesson from that mishap (if you know what I mean). Steely McBeam leads with physical, bone-breaking play...in other words...DOMINATION!
Remember how the Steelers knocked players out of games in the 70's on their way to four Super Bowl titles in six years? Remember how they knocked four of the New England Patriots' best players out of the game and ended their 21-game winning streak (10/31/2004). I embrace domination a great deal and devastation to go with that.
Don't forget I am a Pittsburgh guy and I take pride in that. Believe in the hometown of Dennis Miller. Never forget how he was raised, what he never did growing up, what he always stood for.
WELCOME TO PITTSBURGH STEELY MCBEAM! THANKS DAWGH8R! May the blood of Miller be inside of you and McBeam!
Pride, persistence, power, passion, perseverance, prestige.........Pittsburgh Steelers!

Steely McBeam? Did she enter that name 70,000 times???
Like Pittsburgh needed another reason to be made fun of.

Found this on a message board:
If other teams did this competition here are some of the results if their fans were like the stoolers:
Seahawks - Flappy Mcbeak
49'ers - Goldy Mcpickax
Bengals - Stripey Mcroar
Raider - Rapey Mcpillage
Broncos - trotty Mcmane
I could go on forever buts its just not that funny. I cannot for the life of me understand how the steelers pay the people that chose that name.

MTown,
You never fail to amuse me. But I saw how the Steelers used that bone-breaking skill to win four world titles in six years in the 70's!
Far as me not being a Pittsburgh guy...all you need to know is that I embrace the kind of football Pittsburgh plays!

I'm a Steelers fan, but this thing makes me sick. Why do they need a mascot anyway? They have kicked butt forever, so what purpose does this thing bring? Do they need to entertain the kids that much?
MUCSteelers5xSuperChamp
08-21-2007, 01:30 PM
lizzy,
Get a grip, will you. It's the Steelers! 05' world champions and working towards a sixth title!!
You are right that they kicked butt! Ask the four Patriots who were knocked out of the 2004 game as an example and saw their 21-game winning streak end in Heinz Field!
lizzy
08-21-2007, 02:16 PM
What do I need to get a grip about? This stupid mascot has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GAME! Like I said, the team kicks butt, and (god willing) they will continue to do so. But, do you really think Steely McBeam is going to help the players get psyched up? NO! So, back to my question, what is the point of this thing? Does anyone know what the Steeler organization felt like they were missing that made them think this was a good idea? Does the administration of this team think the team is going to be crappy, and good ole' Steely will make the fans feel better?

Lizzy, it's mostly about money. I would assume that the organization is hoping that they can use it for marketing purposes. I've seen some Steelers fans wearing the same shirts from the 1970's.
They can also use it for charitable purposes. Steely can visit sick children in hospitals and make appearances at community events. It's similar to Slider's role with the Cleveland Indians.

Actually no. Michigan has won as many outright Big ten titles since 1980, as Ohio State has since 1955 though. Congrats on your 1st since 1984 last season:lol:

Keep laughing, I am. That's the last time Michigan won an outright National Championship!
Come on, '97 was a nice year for you guys, but please tell me you aren't one of those guys who thought Michigan could beat Nebraska that year?
Since that '48 Title, Ohio State has won it outright in '54, '57, '68, and '02 and has split National Titles in '61 and '70 (which I personally don't count).
Ahem, you were saying?

1. Lizzy...you remind me of Kristi "Snappy" McCamon (MUC 2005) to an extent. She used to snap at me all the time whenever I would say "guy" to her (LOL)! She and I had our turf wars but were great friends though!! You're a little snappy with your post but you know what, I like that in a female poster. It makes me respect them a lot more!
2. MTown...don't let this be another one of your 1 1/2 national championship stances!

I don't know about you, but I thought Michigan would kill Nebraska in 1997(Nebraska barely beat Missouri, and Michigan played a tougher schedule). And I think 1997 was a little better than a nice year, don't you? At least you guys got to play Miami, and nobody thought you had a chance, especially after narrow wins against UC, Illinois and Purdue. I really don't care that you won titles in the 1950's and 1960's, they aren't any more relevant than Michigan's in the 1900-1948 time period. At least the outright Big Ten titles are decided on the field, and not in a court of public opinion.

Don't you think a program like Michigan should have had more national success than they've had in the past 50 years?
