It's going to be fun to watch the transformation of A-Rod. He's going to go from a guy that everyone loves to hate, to the guy who can restore the sanctity of the home run record.

Why are you all so darn hard on Barry Lamar Bonds? Breaking that record in it's own right should be something to be proud of! And it still hasn't been proven that BLB has taken any kind of supplements to enhance his power.
Innocent till proven guilty.........

Keno, sometimes your head-in-the-sand mentality absolutely baffles me, my friend.

I got a kick out of your post on this good morning. I'm actually in a very happy mood today and for ALL THE RIGHT REASONS (pertaining to Sunday night)!

It was a PRE-SEASON GAME. It doesn't count!!

I can't believe I'm posting this, but I will be cheering A-Rod to become the leader. Maybe somehow he can do it in something other than those ugly pinstripes he wears now.

Well, it's done. Nothing like showing up the pitcher that serves you up 756.

Bonds has tainted this record. Not only because of the fact that he might have used steriods but also because of the way that he has handled the media along with how he treats his teammates in the club house. Barry put himself in a situation where the steriods became a big issue for him and left the media with no other choice but wondering if he did do the roids. Bonds is not a team player either. He has talked about how HE wants to break the record and thats all he has cared about. Not once saying anything like I want the Giants to win the pennant or anything like that. If I were the Giants I would have let him go and signed some talent that would have actually helped the team this year. Giants can take the tainted record while him and his Giants are still in the basement in the West.

I bet most of his teammates are glad the circus sideshow is finally over. I was hoping that he wouldn't break it until the Giants went back on the road. I would've loved to see the reaction outside the friendly home confines.

watching him break the record, i think i actually saw his head grow a little more as he trotted around the bases.
barry is a joke. he's as selfish as it gets. give him a couple of days and he'll be crying about how this guy and that guy didn't show up to watch him break the record. in a fairly recent interview when he was asked about selig being at the game when he breaks the record. barry responded by saying that he'd be present if his record is ever broken. yeah right.....there's NO way barry will ever show up to watch someone break his record.

there is a Bible verse that says something to the effect of
"do not give the appearance of evil"...
this is where many of us make mistakes...while we may not actually do the deed...we have placed ourselves in a position for people to wonder if we did...
unfortunately, barry bonds has placed himself in the position for many to wonder about his behavior...the accomplishment is tainted because of this...
my personal opinion is this...Hank Aaron will stay the homerun king for me...you never hear anything that would detract from his accomplishment...what i have read about him speaks of integrity...to the game...to himself...and to the fans
any who may have "enhanced" their performance have robbed the fans of the game's purity...innocence...pleasure
America's pasttime is no longer what it once was because of this...and it is like pandora's box...once the evil was left out, there is no going back...people will always wonder about the authenticity of barry bond's accomplishment... no matter what he (or anyone else) may say or do...

Very good post, Bev:thumbsup: Hank Aaron is a true American hero that Bonds could never hold a candle to.
I haven't really followed Bond's career that much just because I don't care for him and really don't care. But, wasn't the original concensus that he DID in fact use steroids, but he claimed that he didn't know he was taking them?:jestera: Or was that some other clown?

Kamd50,
At their peaks and I want you to be serious: Who would win a home run derby, nine-inning, three-out contest between Henry Hank Aaron and Barry Lamar Bonds?
In your defense, I'll give you that Bonds has not had the best of reputations around the press.

Not that Bonds is juicing, but I just picked up a copy of his rookie card. Something has changed:

Those Giants fans are probably seething that a Mets fan (who was just passing through on his way to Australia) caught the ball. If it had been a Dodgers fan, a riot would have broken out.

Maybe Bonds will pull a Ken Caminiti, and leave no questions unanswered.

No one would hold it against the guy for selling a "tainted ball." Besides it looks like it's at its peak value right now. I'd sell in a heartbeat.

He's gotta do something. Whether he keeps it or sells, he's gonna owe about 200K in taxes.

If the IRS thinks its worth a MILLION, tell THEM to cut him a check for it.
