As I have been saying about the defensive line being our biggest concern and if we are going to have a great team this year, then we must develop some new personel on the line and they must become a force and stay injury free. Some people don,t want to face the reallity of the situation and start talking how great we are going to be with this situation. We all want to go 15-0 and average 60 points a game and never give up a T.D. but then we must get real and I am hoping that we can come up with a great line but only time will tell. GO TIGERS

So we know as much as we did before the article. Yoder & a bunch of question marks. Any clue anyone?

And maybe a coach or someone knowledgable can explain. It states we have more "OLB types" than linemen so why a 4 man front? Wouldn't that be a 3-4? I am only guessing but Wachtel & Irvin outside, Rose & DT inside?

Wachtel is no longer with the team. rose will be in the mix with torrence but denis vargas will probably start at inside linebacker? just a guess, vargas was mainly in their with torrence during the 7 on 7's and they mixed rose in there.

brandon grizzard will probably get a chance at the other end spot and as far as inside, well your guess is as good as mine? i would maybe consider steve johnson to plug up the middle and keep guys off torrence, cause im not too sure he will be playing much left tackle this year. well will soon find out!!

You know, you do make some sense here. What are we going to do, put some talented OLB's on the bench because we are playing a 4-3, 50 ect.? If they are that good, put them on the D-Line. We could use some quick aggressive defensive lineman.

I will try to tell you who at this time will be starting on the defensive team. At the safety,s wll be C. Hildreth and Pettis and at the corners Turner and Massey. Linebackers will be Irvin -Torrence and Vargas. At one end will be Yoder and a down lineman will be Grizzard. They have been working S. Arnold at one of the spots and I don,t know who the other starter will be. Arnold at this time is one of several two-way players as is Torrence ,Turner and Massey and Yoder. If anybody knows of any other personel on the line, let us know. GO TIGERS

I was told by one of the coaches that the kid from toledo is going to be a good d lineman.

The kid from Toledo is Jeff Meyers and seems to be a dedicated young man and lets wish him well as becomming a Tiger. GO TIGERS

Yah if were having trouble finding Dlinemen and we have talented LBs it only makes sense to run a 3-4.. Yoder and Grizzard at DEs, and Arnold at Nose. But look for Brian Arelt to get some action. hes a strong, fast, hard working kid that was a transfer from Louisiana last year. Wachtel got in some trouble and you wont see him in a Tiger uniform anymore.

And yes, Jeff Myers looks to be a talented OT and is the future for the Tiger Linemen. Hes only a Sophmore and will be starting against Middletown and Solon for sure.

Just heard this morning that a kid moved here from Louisiana, apparantly his school lost so many kids from the effects of Hurricane Katrina that they still can't field a team. He has relatives in the area (xtiger), so he came here to go to school and play football. This kid is an incoming junior, 6'5", 280 lbs and plays defensive end and tackle. He runs a 4.8 40-yd dash and benches 225 lbs 16 reps, with a max of 360. He has films of his uncle Rick and has wishes to be All-Ohio just like him.

Anyone else here that?

Just shut up TC---- you are about to start a fire!LOL However--I also heard that a player from New Jersey moved here 2 days ago and is waiting on paperwork to come down so he can start practice. He moved right down the street from my wife's cousin on her mother's side. The kid is 6'1 200 lbs and runs a 4.4 forty and plays DB and WR. He claims he was all state last year so the players keep coming! I have been trying to find some info out all morning!LOL I bet these kids heard about the new turf!!!!:pimp:

I have been hearing some good things about Arelt and he could be one of the front four starters. About our linebackers,we have veterans in Torrence and Irvin and a new starter in Vargas. With Torrence playing both ways,he will probally be in and out. Please tell me more about our great depth at line backers because all of the rest have little experence at the varsity level. GO TIGERS

Good for him. Dropping some weight (and keeping it off) will help him to lead a happier and healthier life. That's far more important than any benefit on the football field.

Why be pessimistic?? Every other post on her about Steve has been words of encouragement and praise. It's the same thing with all of the o-line put downs on other threads. Can you ever talk someone up instead of down?? EVER?? :wtf:

wow!!...Grizzard doesnt evn play end,he plays 3 tech and how do you know who is gonna start? Nobodys has been fully padded yet some people may be hard when the pad are off, but they are very soft when they come on. You wont know the heavy hitters and tough guys until there on and we have alot of young d-line that did not play alot of highschool football.:TIG2:

For his own health and well-being he needs to lose another 50lbs. If you consider that pessimstic, thats your opinion. You must not care about his health!

To MRR55--Tiger coach started this in jest about the huge football player with unbelievable size and speed and monte 81 was just going along with the prank. The Howard brothers are real and it isn,t a joke when you mention them as comming to Massillon. Thats all that I was pointing out. GO TIGERS

I was referring to the "So," part of the post. You could have posted something like:

Thats good Steve lost the weight. But I think for a little more speed and his own well-being and health he needs to lose some more weight.

The way you said it was wrong, it came off as a put down. So lets think before we post shall we? It's called proofreading! :sour:

WOW! Tigercoach and I were just messing around about the kids moving in from out of state to lighten up the thread and not worry so much about who is starting right now. Please wait until we scrimmage Perry to judge or evaluate the progress of the team. I think we will be fine and I hope that our staff finds a way to put the best athletes and players on the field to win the Championship or go down punching until the last second trying to win one. Alot of people question the players tradition and dedication to being tigers but I will question our REAL dedication to them!!

One thing we can always count on, is that every year there seems to be 1 or 2 kids that step up big time and make an impact on the team. Hopefully, that impact will be felt on both lines.

So unless you have something positive to say, just not post at all??
