I saw this question on another forum. What is the worst punishment a coach has ever given to you or your team? What was it for?

The worst that I can think of off the top of my head was playing club ball. We showed up for practice one day and our coach found out that some idiot on our team was making fun of the owner of the soccer dome and the owner overheard it. We ran for the entire hour and a half practice. We had to sprint the length of the track but were allowed to jog the widths.

I also remember hating practice after a poor game, regardless of winning or losing. If our team didn't play the way we were capable of playing we knew at least 1/3 of practice would involve running.

I'm sure there are some good stories out there. Probably some very creative punishments as well.

A coach was not especially happy with our performance one day. So he had us run a drill where we ran in a pack. You'd take turns sprinting to the front of the line to get ahead of the running group. This went on for miles. Not fun.

Yeah, that's what they were called. I had forgotten. It was not fun, especially when it was your turn to sprint and they were going uphill.

I've had to do those. They aren't bad at first but after awhile when it is your turn it feels like you will never make it to the front of the line.

A coach I worked with a few years ago got tired of his players being late for practice so when practice was supposed to start if players weren't out on the field yet he would make the players who were there get in a 1/2 push up position and hold it until everyone was on the field.
