Oops sorry about that Seeker...Didn't mean to imply anything. Just meant that I wouldn't reply here in what is known as the "General Forum" where anyone could read my comments (including city officials and Employers).....Now ask me in a PM and that may be a whole different story LOL....Anyways, thanks for the edit!

Our friend Woody needs to stay as far away from this as we all do Canton.

Why doesnt massillon fire just transport people to the hospital. Most of them are paramedics? It seems to me that would be in the best intrest of the people.

Tigermedic, we've been trying to get the city to let us do that for years, but no matter what statistics, info or proof we give them that it would be a good thing, they balk...Probably at the initial costs of the extra equipment and manpower needed....Who knows.

I have know idea why they would not want Mfd to transport. If not the whole city at first mayby half. Buy 2 squads for two stations one year and then outfit the rest. With the money you could take in in ambulance billing alone would cover most of the equiptment. Manpower well thats another story?

You have 4 stations with what looks like only 40 line guys??? Mfd is anlready lacking for manpower. No i guess you cant transport without hiring at least another 8 guys a shift?? You tell me??

not enough man power or equipment and no money in the general fund to pay for this without an additional tax. which would never pass because right now with someone in the private sector transporting, i would only pay for the service when i used it rather than additional tax dollars which i hope i would never need to use the service. plus i do not know if a city resident would still get billed by the fd for transport or not at which point it would be like double billing.

It happens everyday across the us. My department bills your insurance compancy $450 everytime we transport someone. Is it double billing? Yes

My parents live on the west side. I guess what most people don't know is if you call 911 and you are not a critical patientand for whatever reason you are not happy with EMT service. Just sign a waiver/ refusal for them pick up the phone and call stark ambulance. They are private companys you have a right to decide.
