This guy disgusts me! As if the dogfighting isn't bad enough, the things that he did to the dogs that weren't good enough is barbaric and he should be punished accordingly. Slamming dogs until they die and electrocuting (sp?) them is rediculous.

"Bad Newz Kennels" is right. My God, that literally made me sick to my stomach to read that first article. Barbaric doesn't even begin to cover it! What in God's name is WRONG with people who carry out such horrendous acts? Pit bulls or not, these animals are vilified and what amounts to torture because of lazy disgusting greedy scumbags. How does one even have a stomach to actually watch these fights? Uhg, it totally sickens and disgusts me that there are people so lowly and evil roaming this earth with the rest of us. May they rot in jail and then in Hell for their cruel inhumanity. But first, I wish they would put all of those men in a cage with some of those animals that have been mistreated and turned into vicious killers just until they are permanently maimed , before the dogs have to be put to sleep.

Just sickening. I can't imagine anyone could watch or participate this and consider it a "sport" or a "hobby." It's apparently a "booming business."
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/07/18/dog.fighting/index.html
The fact that an athlete with millions in salary and endorsements and a supposed "face of the league" would (allegedly) engage in this is truly maddening.
"A source with contacts inside of shoe-manufacturing giant Nike tells Pro Football Talk that the sponsorship of Mike Vick will be coming to an end, in light of his indictment on federal conspiracy charges. Per the source, Nike won't move immediately to axe Vick, but that the company will pursue a mutual parting of the ways with the embattled Falcons quarterback." -Pro Football Talk

Kamd50,
I hate to be the bad guy but Michael Dwayne Vick has been illegally involved in dogfighting for six years, starting in 2001.
I can't believe Vick went this long without being intercepted.
So many dogs, sick and wounded...electrocuted, hung, slammed, drowned, it is a real fiasco.
One question: Why didn't PETA step in to stop all of this let alone any other organization?

Its really looking bad for Vick. With increased scrutiny and protesting towards the NFL I think Goddell will almost have to suspend him before this thing ever goes to court. However, if he waits he will never have to suspend him because Vick will be in prison. I dont see any way he ends up getting off on these charges.

That link was very disturbing to how dogfights are conducted. If anything, I for one am glad that it is a felony and that anyone who watches as a spectator or knows about it is charged too.

The Feds have something like a 95% conviction rate. They aren't bringing charges unless he's going down. Supposedly, they also have an eyewitness that's going to testify he saw Michael Vick at the dog fight and betting some serious money. If all true, he'll be getting 3 hots and a cot.

Tony Taylor's expected plea of guilty -- and with it, his future cooperation with prosecutors -- adds to an already impressive array of evidence against Michael Vick in the federal government's dogfighting case against the Atlanta Falcons quarterback.
Taylor is due to enter his guilty plea at 9 a.m. Monday at U.S. District Court in Richmond, Va. His hearing was added to U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson's docket Friday, a day after he and the other three defendants including Vick pleaded not guilty before the same judge.
Taylor was, according to the federal indictment, in the middle of the dogfighting scheme from the beginning. The indictment says Taylor, along with Vick and co-defendant Quanis Phillips, in 2001 "decided to start a venture aimed at sponsoring American Pit Bull Terriers in dogfighting competitions."
I think Vick will be getting more than probation, imo.

"You're pleading guilty and taking your chances, right?" Hudson asked Taylor.
He responded, "Yes."
Taylor had the same answer when Hudson asked: "You have agreed to cooperate fully with the United States, is that right?"
Prosecutors claimed in a July 17 indictment that Taylor found the Surry County property that Vick purchased and used as the site of "Bad Newz Kennels," a dogfighting enterprise. Taylor also allegedly helped purchase pit bulls and killed at least two dogs that fared poorly in test fights.

With two more co-defendants distancing themselves from Michael Vick, the embattled Falcons quarterback was considering whether to accept a plea agreement for his alleged role in a dogfighting operation.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on its Web site that attorneys for Vick were in plea negotiations Tuesday afternoon with federal prosecutors. Collins R. Spencer III, a spokesman for Vick's lawyers, declined to comment when reached by the newspaper.

Possible, but I have a feeling that he will do some jail time. I'm really surprised that they would offer a plea when the other 3 have been willing to turn on Vick. Perhaps Vick does have someone bigger, but I would think the other 3 could give up this "bigger" person.

On Tuesday ESPN learned that lawyers representing Vick were trying to negotiate a plea agreement that would include less than the year of prison time that prosecutors had offered.
A source also said that Vick's attorneys had recommended that the embattled quarterback accept a deal if it includes less than a year of jail time, but he had not decided whether to fight the charges.
They said that if Vick took the plea, he would have to outline things that he would have probably been convicted of and give specifics. Vick might have to say how he personally killed some of the dogs.

Scooby-Doo...he is my favorite dog and he always makes me laugh!
PhotoObie...that is a funny picture!
But to get into my real angle, Michael Dwayne Vick is a sick individual. I saw some dogfighting videos never seen before on HBO and it is so disgusting. I'm talking pit bulls, rottweilers, dobermans, bulldogs, etc. all used for fighting. Seriously, I saw a clip of a man taking a sick and wounded bulldog back to the woods (and you know what that means) and he called it a "homegoing." Shooting a dog in the back of it's head a "homegoing"? To quote Chucky from Child's Play: "No f(reak)in' way!"
At least Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips are coming forward. Animals don't deserve that kind of abuse.
Those last two pictures were forceful! Those charges on the stand all lead with force. The dog chasing Vick leads with force. And I am happy for once to see Scooby-Doo show some forceful bravery!
