Does across the ocean count? We are 4 Tiger fans in Unterboezberg, Switzerland. My husband was skeptical at first, but after his first McKinley game he was truly hooked! But...he still asks too many questions during the game. Darn Europeans!

Same ole story, a man! My husband is Swiss and he did 4 years in the US (we met in Louisiana) and then finally decided it was time to come back home to Swissieland. I can't say I regret my decision, even though true American football is hard to come by in these parts. There is a football league in Zurich that I look forward to seeing in action. But there is nothing like good ole Massillon when it comes to the real excitement. Luckily my husband, who has not a very deep understanding of football except for the round one played here in Europe, does recognize my need to go "home" once a year and catch a game. I guess it takes a special kind of person to be married to a Tiger fan....or a complete idiot!
When I was a young man of 18 many moons ago, a friend and I traveled Europe. We stayed in Zurich, Bern , a beautiful country. I would love to someday to go back.

My mom & sister are both MTSB alumni (my mom was a twirler, my sis played trumpet) and currently reside in Sanford FL (a suburb of Orlando).
My Aunt Marion was also a MTSB majorette and currently lives in suburban San Fransisco CA.
None of 'em, to my knowledge, participate on this web-site.

a little town in the middle of a corn field in northwest ohio...findlay...and that is exactly how it is...drive and drive west...through all these little "blink your eyes and you'll miss them" burgs...and the boom "findlay"...it is the same way no matter what direction you go in...either corn fields or bean fields...
but, we love it...couldn't be more centrally located to various big cities... less than 1 hour to toledo...go mudhens...2 to detroit...why we would go there, i am not sure...2 and 1/2 to cleveland...2 1/2 to cincy to cheer on the reds or the bengals or bearcats...2 to columbus...even chicago or pittsburg is only 5 hours...yet, we have that small town life...
claim to fame...big ben of the pittsburg steelers...i want to root for the hometown boy...but, i am an ohio girl...tiger born and bred...thus i must root for my bengals...

There are no bugs on the Boca Ciega Bay, my friend. Did you move out west? I missed this one.
Have lived in Georgia since 1968. Now in Woodstock, GA northwest of Atlanta and 11 hours drive time to Tigertown!

Must be nice! I have almost 11 hours "fly" time and that is just to Chicago! Add 2 small children to that mix and this is me when we finally reach our final destination :ohno:
Usually we fly to Atlanta first, spend a week with my sister and BIL and then drive up to Massillon. Driving long distances in the US is much easier than driving in any other country. Always a place to stop that boasts of some magical wonder of the world. And gas prices aren't a problem as gas is still cheaper in the US than in Europe.

I am a 1992 graduate of WHS. Somehow I found my way to the foothills of North Carolina. Forest City, to be exact. A Barney Fife town:zzz: I still manage a few football games a year. Usually the BIG ones. A toast to all my fellow alumni:drinkem:

Never heard of Forest City. I looked it up on the map and you aren't that far from me. I moved to Statesville the summer of 2004. My wife and I bought a house in Hickory last October then.

Let me tell you something! We had 5 guys walk up to our tailgate tonight. They were wearing green and white jerseys. We thought they were ursuline, but we were happy they werent. They came from Brazil!
They're touring the US, seeing NFL, and college games. They heard of Massillon, and thought they'd take in a ball game!
Glad we put on a great show for them!
Brazil South America!
And I also heard a fellow was here from Scotland this evening...

Are you related to Bud Middaugh, the race car driver? I watched him race at Midvale and Barberton speedways when I was a kid.

Great! Bud's name and number are on the Wall of Fame at Barberton Speedway. I remember when I was in grade school, during an art class our teacher wanted us to draw sports figures,so I drew a football player wearing orange and black and had number 84 on his jersey, simply because I liked your grandfather so much. Recently,I went down to Midvale and discovered another Middaugh driving another car #84. Is he your uncle?

I assumed that you could be the Middaugh that graduated in 84. Some things may not always be as they appear !!

Yep, I've seen the "wall of fame" many times up there at Barberton. For a few years, we raced go-karts up there (in the red #84 or course). As for the Middaugh racing in #84 at Midvale, I know who you are talking about but not exactly sure of the relation. Might be a cousin of my dad's or something along those lines.

Just witnessing things like a group of people coming from another country to see our wonderful town and team just makes me even more proud to be a Tiger! You could tell they were really impressed and that was before the game. I can only imagine what they have to say after the night was over. By the time they left the tailgate they were yelling GO TIGERS!!! It was great!

And why not?! Should make them feel right at home to see all that orange around the stadium! :tonguewave:
I think it is pretty freaking awesome that people from other countries have heard of Massillon football and are interested in seeing it in real life. I plan on bringing a Swiss contingency one of these days. Obiefan, are you going to be taking on the job as Massillon Tiger Goodwill Ambassador?
