"In Massillon, legends are made against McKinley. Tigertown lost one of its legends July 5 with the passing of former Washington High football standout Herbert “Ace” Crable."

God bless and rest his soul:angel:
I love reading about the great players from the Tiger's past. The Indie (or massillonproud) should do a weekly story on the great players from the past.

My respects to a Tiger great and his family.
Man, I wish I was an Ace. The all-time coolest nickname. I think maybe I'll start calling my son that so he dont become the nerd I was. :)

My condolences to the Crable family.
It is always sad when a Tiger passes on.
I didn't use former because there is no such thing as former. Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger!
I wonder if Coach Stacy and the team plan on honoring him this season.
These great Tiger legends should not or ever be forgotten and Mr. Crable (Mr out of respect) is one of those great Tigers who will be always remembered and to whom we will forever be thankful and endebited to. Im sure Coach Mather welcomed him with open arms and now joins the roster of the lords great football team in heaven. Rest easy and in peace. Your journey has came to an end and you deserve it. Thankyou.
Here's hoping we do you proud this season as we move on, remember those who have left us, and continue in this, the story of the great Massillon Tigers.

A very well done article about perhaps the best running back in Massillon history!

I've got the original 1949 Tiger Team photo with Irwin Crable in the second row on the end. Man - that guy looks like a player!!

Ace Crable was a thing of beauty to watch. I guess fluid is the correct word. That backfield was awsome in 48 and 49.
Something that nobody mentioned (or at least I didn't read it) was Ace was the center on the basketball team for at least part of the season and perhaps all, I just don't remember.
At 5' 10" or 11" he looked pretty small against some other teams but he could jump and their weren't many that outjumped him. He had thighs that looked like huge hams.
Thanks for the memories, Ace.
