View Full Version : "Tiger staff changes again"

"Because of his new role, Babics no longer will be on the coaching staff. However, Tiger head coach Tom Stacy played a hunch when he was piecing together his new staff in April and May, and brought in not one, but two linebacker coaches – as well as former head coaches and defensive coordinators – in Jack Rose and Al Checca. Rose – the former Massillon and GlenOak head coach – will assume Babics’ spot with the outside linebackers. Checca, who previously was the defensive coordinator at Jackson, will coach the Tiger inside linebackers."

The article also has quotes from Stacy about the offseason workouts and upcoming scrimmages.

My biggest concern right now is our offensive line. Hopefully we can get
a commitment soon. If not, I hear Seeker may apply.

Seeker can apply for being "offensive". Not line, nothing more!! LOL
Not too happy about the quote from Stacy regarding Coach Page. Sounded very UNPROFESSIONAL, especially being that Frank was a good coach for the Tigers. A little tact and manors coach!

Well that's just too bad if the Head Coach didn't take this particular coach's feelings into consideration. With the allegations surrounding him, I could care less if the coach said anything. Perhaps you might take your football blinders off and look at the bigger picture here, OK?

I didn't think it was a huge deal, but I just don't get why it was necessary to name him. I agree that Page did some things unprofessional, but Stacy could have just said that there is teaching opening that a new coach could be applying for.

What does it matter if he named him? EVERYONE in the entire area knows who it is anyhow. Secondly, as I have said before, I will admit that I am surprised about this whole situation and think that it is curious, however, I imagine that it is possible that Coach Stacy and others know more than we do. IMO, it doesn't matter what kind of a coach he was. Say if he would have been a bad coach, then would it have been ok that he named him then? It's irrelevant.
Regardless of any other facts or circumstances, the teacher was told by 2 principals that he should stop allowing the student to come to his room alone, and yet continued to do so. Now that was a pretty darn stupid thing to do; ignore a warning from your superiors like that and not to expect anything to come out of it.

What if he wasn't a coach at all? Would his name have come out? I doubt it and that is why I don't get the reasoning of throwing his name out there.

I'm still wondering why nothing happeneded to him after the first time he was told not to do it and he did it again.

That goes with my point. I agree that it wasn't a secret which is why I don't understand the need to mention it. Again, if it was just any old teacher and not a coach, does it get mentioned?
I'm curious as to why Page wasn't coaching. Was it his decision or was it Coach Stacy's. I know it can be a big frustration when a coach stops coaching but keeps teaching. Trying to find a teaching spot is hard enough but it is even harder when coaches stay on as teachers after deciding not to coach. I know it was tough on Fairless a few years ago when the head coach resigned but stayed as a teacher. They basically had a create a new teaching position for the new head coach because there were none available.

True.
Perhaps he was written up or something. If the only evidence was being alone in his classroom with the girl, I don't know what else could have been done. I wonder if the union was involved at all.

What do you make of Grizzard's statement where they charged the girl with "obtaining hall pass under false pretenses" but it didn't rise to a misdemeanor. If that's a crime, I could have got 20 years.

LMAO. We discussed that in another thread.
Any word as to what Page is doing? Is he going to fight it or is he looking for another job?

I haven't heard anything. But, with the Inde unfairly implying possible sex without any charges. That certainly can't help him in finding another job.

I talked to Coach Stacy about this situation. I can tell you that he is not happy with C. Easterling. He was asked by C.E. if Page's dismissal could help him get an O.L. coach hired. Coach's reply was '' it could'' ......there was no quote.....Needless to say Coach prides himself on being professional. The last thing he would do is slam a former assistant coach no matter what the circumstances. He feels very badly about this situation. C.E. will have to be more careful in what he writes....frankly he should know better.

Hello all. This is Chris Easterling. Normally, I don't try to get on here and post too much, especially giving out my real name. However, I'm going to here to defend myself in this case. For starters, I NEVER brought up Frank Page's name. I simply asked if there was any update on the offensive line position being filled. Coach Stacy said - as was quoted in the story - that it was still going through procedure and that he didn't know if it would or not. He mentioned Frank's name himself, something I simply thought was talking about Frank's coaching position and nothing more. I never asked any follow ups on Frank himself, because I didn't feel anything more needed to be said on that matter. To be honest, I didn't think Frank's teaching status had anything to do with it, because I don't think the candidate Coach Stacy has in mind is a middle school teacher. I could be wrong on that, but I'm about 95 percent certain of that. Besides which, as I have stated before, I wasn't even concerned about the teaching side of thing when I talked to coach. I was focused entirely on the football aspect of it. I apologize if the quote has caused problems, that certainly wasn't my intent. I was simply trying to focus on the offensive line vacancy. Again, I'm sorry for the trouble this has caused.

Also Mr. Easterling, I couldn't help but take notice of your screenname here on MP. Having teenagers, I have heard this word used in quite often in a not-so-flattering manner. So I was wondering if you knew how "chester" is used today and if not, thought I might clue you in.
1. chester
Rhyming slang, as in "Chester the Child Molester", a term for a pedophile. An older jail inmate's expression.
"That new prisoner is 'Chester the Child Molester.' "
2. chester
a child molester or one that likes young girls
You're such a chester.
3. Chester
A mild perve. Male Or Female in a joking sort.
"Whats up Chester caught ya in the xxx section of the video store."
Not a word I would want associated with my name, lol!

Mr. Easterling
Don't sweat the article, as long as Coach Stacey is OK with it that is all you have to worry about. Do not let the people on this site bother you. The entire site does not contain a single person who can effect your future. I promise you that anybody who is anybody with regards to Mass. school or the football program does not think this site carries much validity. Now people will begin to bash me and cry etc... but I know first hand this is true. The site is very good with respect to high school spotlights, but that is all it is. Your day will not change cause somebody from MassillonProud.com doesn't agree with you or interpreted your ink the way you did not intend it to be understood.
Again Mr. Easterling, DO NOT loose any sleep over this matter. Make sure you and Coach Stacey are ont he same page and move on....

Gr8ing- Thanks! Great 8th post on the site!
It IS true pertaining to your reply about no one on this site can affect enyone elses future.
What I find irresponsible in your post is belittling my site and the coverage and support it provides. That is a direct swipe at myself, and Tiger Don. Who in all fairness, does it essentially for free.
I've never been in competition with any news paper, or other media outlet.
We do what we do, because we do it well, and we like it.
I know there are a few filks within the MCS who loathe our site, primarily for our actions in 2001 and 2002 concerning the HOOVER football fiasco. I finally came in contact with one of them last year. He found out who I was and what I do, and gave me the where-with-all over the site. I told him that he should come back and check it out. It was quite obvious he hadn't been back since then. a LOT has changed. It used to be an absolute free for all. No topic was off limits. We made many changes and consider this new site heads and shoulders above the old one.
Of course, we'll never please every one.
Anyways, thanks for your input. Please hang around the site, and continue to post. We always could use new site posters with varying opinions.
If officials in the MCS have a problem with anything, they know I can be reached easily. I am more than happy to meet with officials if we have an issue needing dealt with.
