From Bloomberg/SI.com:
"Mark Waller, NFL senior vice president of sales and marketing, also said in an interview that he hopes the league would have teams based in London, Mexico and Canada within 10 years. Waller said that he hopes the league would have teams based outside the U.S. by 2017. ``Ten years from now, I hope we will have a team in London, I hope we'll have a team in Mexico, I hope we'll have one in Toronto, playing within the NFL,'' Waller said."

I can possibly see Mexico and Toronto, but London? How would that work? That would be a long trip to play teams on the west coast. Were any NFL Europe teams ever in London?

The London Monarchs played from 1991-1998. Attendance went from around 40,000 the first season to around 16,000. The London Monarchs became the England Monarchs in 1997 and had home games around different stadiums all around England. Attendance, however, kept falling to around 6,000.

I'm sure going to miss the old league. Just like I pine for the days of the USFL.

Not really sure why these pro sports leagues keep trying to start new teams in different countries. I could see the NFL putting a team in Toronto like MLB, and the NBA have. But in Mexico and London? Just dont really see the point.

They're trying to find "untapped" markets. I know NASCAR runs a Busch race in Mexico and has been looking at possible running a race in Montreal. But it wouldn't exactly be the "National" Football League.
I agree traveling to and from London would be a grind.
