Wow, have you seen the progress on the Dream building?

Also some sort of black metal supports being stored in the parking lot. They reminded me of trusses.

Good to see this becoming a reality.

Internal issues!

flaboi7
08-10-2007, 06:14 PM
well if there are internal problems why are they not being addressed??? they were also suppose to be keeping the community involved and in touch with all whats going on? no communication yet? but soon enough they will be asking or that bond issue... it seems to me everything massillon does is never done in the time frame it sets.. NEVER

pretty sad.. they blamed being behind because of weather..... come on we have had such a beautiful summer for months we didnt have NO rain what were they doing then ? its crazy to think they can never have anything done when they say it will be. this was suppose to be done by championship weekend for HS football.. now thy say by the first of they year

There is almost always problems that come up in the field of construction. I am not sticking up for anyone, but there is almost always delays that pop up for some reason or the other. A good saying comes to mind which im sure most of our parents told us growing up. That saying is: Good things come to those who wait! It is a good thing and we just have to wait. In this case we have no choice or say so in the matter. But its going to be nice when its done. Coach Brown would be proud and wish they had this when he was coach.

You see there, flaboi, this is just another example of you finding something to complain about or criticize for when it really isn't necessary. Maybe you just don't comprehend what it means to be positive:scratchchin:

There IS work being done.

Any rational person knows projects of this size take time and delays are to be expected when you have the weather we've had (many downpours). It will be done. Be patient.

i was trying to be funny guess some people can't take a small joke. However, massillon will be helping pay for this building. They already said they are going to ask us for a bond issue. Do not for get that the building needs up keep, lighting, field up keep, ect.. Does anyone read ther paper? The school board already said that they are going to be in the red by 2009. So where is the money going to come from? HINT: THE BOND ISSUE

I guess im just very excited about seeing this building and want everyone to see it this year like was told to all of massillon.

And I am the type which many are like this: A very timely and organized person.

And I have had a few weeks to chat because i was'nt in classes. That shows how much people actually know about schools and colleges: We do get summer breaks!!!

And they last few of my posts in other forums have been positive, if u could take the time to read them. And as i look back and see everyone thats involved in this room, many of you do sit here all day and type blogs. maybe thats why so many rumps are getting larger these days haha

anyways good luck this week tigers.... BEAT SOLON

You do not have all of your facts straight about the DREAM project. Superintendent Fred Blosser addressed that issue today. The recent staff and duties reorganization will free up some monies to be used in needed areas. It's not specifically earmarked for the DREAM project but some could be applied there. Also the reorganization of two bus routes is saving the district around $150-thousand. He said those monies COULD be applied to utilities, upkeep, etc. He also mentioned the district will look at ways to generate revenue from the facilities. The district is currently looking at other facilities to see what they charges in rental fees.

I'm not saying that the district won't ask for a future bond request. With the current issues facing Ohio's public schools, it's likely inevitable. However to suggest that the DREAM project would be a major factor for that would be incorrect.

Well was it still not stated that they could possibly use the money for the DREAM project? Have you seen what the shape of the schools are in? Some can' teven afford spprts, unless students pay to play. Do you really think massillon will be in a surplus of money by schools end of 2009?

And yes i did hear that they will rent out the facility as well, but no matter what i can almost put my word on it, money will EVENTUALLY be used for this building if the bond issue is passed.

By the way, even though i am not from canton, people not from massillon can be very knowledgeable also about topics outside of their respected cities. Masiillon citizens do not know everything, because if we did we would have the best school district already in the nation. What do we rank again? Maybe this is why is should be built at the time it was suppose to be, so that it cant help better the students of massillon and prepare them for college. Is it not what this DREAM project is for?

You need to understand that most contractors have multiple projects at a time, and the projects with the most money get the most attention. School projects tend to fall at the bottom of the priority lists. Just a fact.
Once a project begins, you are at the mercy of the contractors. So unless you have big bucks to move your project to the front of the line, sit back and relax. There are alot of things going on you are not aware of, and schedule 'adjustments' are built into the project timeline.
I have been involved in numerous school projects (I am a Board of Education trustee in Michigan) and these types of projects are normal to drag out abit (at least seem to). But it will get done, and we will all be proud.

And yes, the Massillon district will have to spend money for this project. So what. This is an enormous gift, and the pay back to the district will be even bigger.
Believe me, I fell over when I learned of this project. I am busting my ass to raise a mere $2 million to build a new 5,000 seat stadium with a turf field up here, and you guys are 'given' a $4 million indoor facility.

Anyone caught WHINNING about this project should be made to sit through all of McKinley's home football games for the rest of the season as punishment! (I know that is harsh)

Alot of dirt got moved around today thanks to all of the rain. Part of the big wall that holds up the back came sliding down today. It's probably a section about 5-10 ft wide and it looked like a dirt waterfall. They had a crew of guys out there trying to clean it up when I left from across the street (STL). I wonder if they have a plan to get this to stop happening.

I'd say this responsibilty falls with the General Contractor, whoever that may be.

I do understand that things do take time, however this is a 4million dollar project... It was stated that they would have their own contractors.

And yes, it did rain, but it was only for a week... What about the last few months that we had NO RAIN????

Oh well, this project will be awesome when it is complete and if massillon does things right, this will FINALLY get the education level where it should be here in this town.

But the sooner they complete this project, the sooner they can get their academics in order as well.

From a players mother I know they was infact cleaning water out of the high school and there has been water damage to the school due to construction and the extremely heavy rainfall. People in the library report rainfall so hard that they could not even see the stadium. The auxillary gym flooded and I also heard water damage to the weightroom.
