View Full Version : Why delay in naming O-Line Coach?

massillon catholic

Any comments on why there has been a delay in naming the O-Line Coach? I would think if its going to be Batterbum that you would announce it with Hack, so everyone would be pleased with Hack coaching and perhaps dilute the negativity with Batterbum. That's assuming that he will be named O-Line Coach. Also, who coached the 91 O-Line Team?

I work with a guy who played at Glenoak and who has a close friend high-up in their booster club; his friend doesn't have anything good to say about Battershell's coaching. We can hope that Banks' statement("It will not be anyone who has coached here in the past.") would eliminate that possibility.

After mulling it over a while, I think Tony Clifton would be a superb choice as the new O Line coach.

He knows all the smooth moves.

He could design the coaches outfits.

He could put some pizzazz into the BC meetings.

The sidelines would be overflowing with blue haired ladies holding field passes. No referee would chance calling a holding penalty on us, for fear of being attacked by 40 purse wielding Clifton fans.

And at some point in the season the Tigers would be in a tight spot...and nobody knows how to wriggle out of a tight spot better than Clifton.

Thought we would have this all done by now , but it looks like coach TRIed and maybe there is just no WAY, to get his choice.

Which begs the obvious question: why would we keep keep looking to Triway for coaches? If their staff is that good, why isn't their team any better?

Why is it so difficult for us to land a quality O-Line caoch?
Because there aren't that many quality O-Line caoches to begin with?

I would suspect that Stacy has already identified a couple of guys he'd be happy to work with, but other issues (e.g. day jobs) prevent him from closing the deal. In other words, it's backroom politics. Or business at usual, depending on your perspective.

massillon catholic
06-24-2007, 02:04 PM
We are in the end of June and still don't have an O-Line coach. This was a very weak area of the team last year and should have been the first issue addressed, IMO. Politics and Business As Usual, should be set aside and the school board or whoever is preventing some of these hires should remember that its FOOTBALL that pays for all of the other sports. A bad team brings in LESS money.

Tiger Flame
06-24-2007, 05:47 PM
Coach Stacy said a couple of months ago that he wanted to get his staff together and I know there was some obstacles in the process but school is out and now I think he will have to settle on a lesser coach. I hope we get a good coach and don,t have to settle for less but I am not optimistic. GO TIGERS

06-24-2007, 09:37 PM
I STILL wouldn't rule out Joe Studer IF Coach stacy is indeed still looking. He could probably be persuaded by two guys and those two guys are Coach Stacy and one of the newest assistants Dave Weber. They are all three very good friends.

I have a feeling that there is a coach in place. From what I hear, Dave Weber was in the fold since early May and I was asking in June and we didn't know about it on here. Coach Stacy does a great job keeping things in house as it should be!

He is actually trying to get a principal's job the last I heard from a friend of his. It's too bad he didn't get one of the one's we had open here. It's funny how a school like Norton didn't need any of those guys. :stars:

ok hear it goes.....you speak facts? Let me list webster's definition of the word fact:

Fact; Noun
1. A piece of information about circumstances that exist or events that have occurred; "first you must collect all the facts of the case".

2. A statement or assertion of verified information about something that is the case or has happened; "he supported his argument with an impressive array of facts".

3. An event known to have happened or something known to have existed; "your fears have no basis in fact"; "how much of the story is fact and how much fiction is hard to tell".

4. A concept whose truth can be proved; "scientific hypotheses are not facts".

None of these fall definitions fall under your "fact" that you only speak on "facts" that Babics is the next principal. Now I am in agreement that he will be...but according to Webster's, you are not telling a fact because he has not been board hired yet.
Hang around the site longer than a week and you will know that I exist.
