Just a note for you guys who are into all the Pro Football preview magazines. I was in the grocery store and noticed the cover of Athlon's preview is no other than the Browns' Braylon Edwards, with the words "Playmaker" attached to it. Didn't this guy drop several passes last year and basically cry when he didn't get balls thrown to him? LOL!!

I wonder how much his agent had to pay them to put him on the cover, and use the term "playmaker"!
What a joke.

There is only ONE playmaker: Michael Jerome Irvin...three-time Super Bowl winner with the Dallas Cowboys...who epitomized what championship will and tradition was about in the 90's in leading Jessica Simpson's hometown team to two wins over the Buffalo Bills and one over Dennis Miller's hometown team.
Braylon Jamel Edwards has a way to go before he is a playmaker...after all, he DROPPED a surefire touchdown pass against the Steelers in a 24-20 loss...the Steelers who were world champions last season.

Don't most of those publications put out multiple covers for various markets? The one down south probably has a player from the Lucasville Correctional Facility, errrr, Bengals on the cover.

jbones,
Let me ask you a question: When the Browns are faced with imminent defeat against the Steelers, how will you respond?

Keno, for your sake I hope you're not bellying up to a heaping portion of crow and humble pie on September 9th, 2007 at about 4:00 p/m.
This Steelers team isn't the one you keep referring to from years gone by my freind. I'll say 9-7 at best!

I saw this one at Fisher's Grocery. I didn't realize that each NFL market had their own player on the cover, but if I'm a Brown, I'm not sure I want Braylon representing me. Kellen Winslow or Kameron Wimbley would be better choices.

I agree. What has Edwards done?

led the team in receiving with 61 receptions 884 yards for a 14.6 average and 6 Td's!!! More than all the rest of the team. He had more yards receiveing than any RB had rushing on the worst passing team in the league. He was one of few bright spots on the team that ranked #31 in offense. Now that he is fully recovered from injuries he will be a excellant 1st WR for the Browns!
Keno----Pittsburgh is overrated dude and NEVER takes care of its great players!!!

Edwards couldn't hold onto the magazine long enough to read it.

Well, didn't Charlie Frye lead the team in all the Qb categories? I wouldn't want him on the cover either.
Braylon could be good, but hasn't done anything to this point.
Phil Dawson is the man.

With the #31 rated passing game and #32 rated running game noone should be on the cover but if you have to pick a player Braylen Edwards is the best we have right now. I am not a Browns fan but they have the potential to do some good things in 2007. If Lewis gains 1200 or more yards to open up Quinn and the passing game the Browns might be 10-6 and make the playoffs.
Frye led the team because he played majority of games at QB--all TE's and Wr's got around equal playing time.

Lewis with 1200 yards?
Open up Quinn?
10-6 in the playoffs?
Monte, the Captain Morgan and Cokes are out awfully early today, my friend.

Very true.
With ratings like that, how did they win any games?

It's Hennesey on the rocks and I am still at work but jason Stafford and I am going to the DMX concert tonight so I know i will start in about an hour from now.
Lewis is 2 seasons off of 2000 and Quinn will be the starter. The playoffs are not out of the question.

Monte!
I love your passion my man, but you're "doing" more then Hennessy if you think Lewis is anywhere near as good as he was 2 years ago (and his line isn't either), Quinn will be the starter at the begining of the season, or perhaps at all this year, and the Browns are going to the playoffs.
That's a trifecta I'd wager a few coins on!

Hennesey is my fix!!!
I am not a browns fan but I would take the bet about 10-6 because they will be much improved. Lewis missed training camp the last few years because of injuries and incareration but will be ready to rumble this season--count on that!!
What you want to bet???

I don't know. These dang baseball teams keep winning and they keep changing the dates of All-Stars. Right now, I'm looking at either the 3rd or
4th week of July.

So you're saying Lewis will get how many yards rushing this year?
Quinn will start when?
The Browns will go 10-6 and be in the playoffs?
BTW! Lewis rushed for over 2000 yards in 2003! He rushed for 1005 in 12 games in 2004, 906 in 15 games for an avg. of 3.4 per carry in 2005 and 1132 in 16 games for an avg. of 3.6 yards per carry. And that was with a better O-line, and his team in the lead alot which meant more carries!
Let me know the bet. I'm all in!

1200 yards froLewis and 10-6 record for the Browns! I will bet whatever you like within reason---- you can pick up my drink tab and I will pick up yours dinner or drinks!!! So we are looking at around 100 bucks bet! Let me know what you want to do. Dinner or drinks!

I can see 1200 yards if he stays healthy. I don't see them going 10-6 though. Maybe 8-8.

Monte! I'll take both bets for dinner and a couple of drinks at the place of the winners choice. We can put a $100.00 limit on each bet if you want, or a $50.00 limit on each for a total of $100.00.
What about the Quinn bet?

Never been a Quinn fan but I do not count out Ohio kids when it comes to sports! I will take the Lewis and record bet for dinner and drinks but Quinn is a project--I think he will start but you never know with Cleveland!

Here's my logic on the two scenarios you've bet on. Don't be backing out now that I've given you my "expert" analysis! LOL!
1. Jamal Lewis averaged 3.4 yards per carry in 2005 and 3.6 yards per carry in 2006. He did so behind a line anchored by Jonathon Ogden, one of the best tackles in football. If Lewis can average 3.5 yards per carry behind the Browns line he'll need 343 carries to surpass 1200 yards. I'm not so sure he'll be healthy enough to get that many carries, and considering the fact Reuben Droughns only carried the ball 220 times last year for the Browns, I'm feeling pretty good about the bet. Lets not forget that the Ravens were in a lot of close games , and the lead in the 4th quarter of a lot of games, and Lewis still only managed 906 yards in 15 games in 2005, and 1132 yards in 16 games in 2006! I know you're banking on his ability to go into this season without any distractions, but I'm banking on the fact that this is his 9th season and I think he's done with the 30 carry 150 yard games!
2. In order for the Browns to go 10-6 they will need to go no worse then 5-3 at home and 5-3 on the road. The home games in conference are tough enough, but then add Seattle, Miami, and Buffalo to the home schedule and I think they'll be lucky to go 4-4. Their road schedule has the standard Steelers, Ravens and Bengals games, but when you add the Jets, Patriots, Rams, Cardinals and even the Raiders to the mix, I can't see them doing any better then 4-4 on the road!
Therefore, you're on

If Quinn starts any games this year I win the 10-6 bet! That would mean the Browns have given up on the season and are looking to the future in my opinion.

No backing out of the bet for me! My mother would be proud that I put money and faith up for her beloved team. I think i will win the bet anyway!!

So is the bet $50.00 on each or $100.00 on each?
I can eat and drink pretty good on $50.00, but I can eat and drink a little better on $100.00! LOL!
Make it easy on yourself my freind, it'll just be fun to have a little action on the browns this year.

Hadn't looked at it that way. I just looked at it as 75 yards a game would get him 1200.
I would say Lewis would be extremely lucky to get 300 carries.
