Oh Man. I graduated 3 years later and that picture makes me feel old! I can't imagine what old coot CarlE must feel now. Maybe we should break out his class picture again?!

I remember the end zone stands being taken down for track each year, but when were those turnstiles removed?

I always thought that orange scoreboard was the neatest thing when compared to other HS stadiums at the time- especially when the messageboard went on it a few years later. Now it looks like nothing,

Its strange to see the end zone without the bleachers, which were always stored under the east stands.

Up on the East Side we could always tell when football season was soon to be upon us.

A tribe of raccoons always settled in under the stored bleachers, and when the bleachers were put up, the varmits would over run us up in Sippo Heights.

I can't see this as being a graduation photo.

Who are the girls in white?

Why is everybody walking on the field wearing black pants and orange jackets-are they all guys?

Just because it says June 76 doesn't mean it happened then. Maybe whomever developed it waited to have it done then. (Who hasn't left film in cannisters, etc. in a drawer for awhile?)

We need more information!!

They could possibly be the usher/attendants for the graduation ceremony

Why is everybody walking on the field wearing black pants and orange jackets-are they all guys?

It could be the attire that the Concert Band and or choir wore.

I agree. Those are not graduation gowns (way too short)and no one has on a grad cap either. It just doesn't look like a grad ceremony at all. Plus there are not enough kids and why would the boys be separated from the girls? The girls all appear to be wearing the same exact white dress. Does anyone know of any school group where the girls would all dress the same like that. Only thing I can think of is Washingtonians or something, but still not in those type of dresses. it is intriguing.

Looks like the band is walking through the endzone. Whether its the Swing Band or concert band I'm not sure.

I count seven girls' heads and then I think the students coming out on the field may be holding instruments? Look at the fourth one-maybe a trombone?

Ok, a graduation -- but the Tigers?

Since when do we wear blue and white?

Wait a second....:scratchchin:

1976 was the famous Bicentennial Year!! EVERYONE who graduated in 1976 (including yours truly!) wore red, white and blue!!!

(Some of the girls in our class wore red and others white-guess what the boys (who wore blue) thought about that!)

Blue was worn in the late 60's
The boys wore darker blue and the girls lighter blue.

OB, I've always wondered. Why didn't people from your generation smile in photos?

(The photos are from the Yale football team in the 1800's and 1916 Massillonian High School Yearbook. I don't think OB was around then.)

No it isn't. It's the class of '76. Thus the date JUNE '76. That year we wore red, white and blue robes to celebrate the Bicentennial. Went to quite a party afterwards, too.

The orange scoreboard in the picture was there beginning in the 1971 season and ending at the end of the 1982 season. During the 1971 season, Obie had a crown on his head.

(Interesting sidenote: 1982 was also the last season for the endzone corner scoreboards at OSU before they started putting the big scoreboards up behind the South Stands. The last game for those corner scoreboards was the Massillon-Moeller title game).

Matthew Brady LEARNED photography from Orangeblood! In fact, Matthew Brady was the photographer at CarlE's 1876 graduation that started this thread.
