Like many of you, I watched on television the release of Paris Hilton from jail after 3-days served in prison. You get mad as H%**.:wall: The excuse? A rash? Most prisons have medical services attached to them.
The deeper issue is: We are supposed to be equal under the law. We know that the free hand on Lady Justice goes behind her back to take the money when a celeb is involved. If this were anyone else, serve your time and shut up! What makes you angry or outraged is: there really is NO RESPECT for verdicts passed down by judges. It is bad enough that real sentences are not served through, but watered down at some point. When a judge says 10 years, it SHOULD BE 10 years! I am sure no lessons will be learned here from the young Hollywood Elites, but drama.
At home monitoring? PA-LEEEZ! Don't insult our intelligence. This is supposed to be a lesson to learn, and serve to the rest of the Hollywood Elite that you can not do whatever you want, make a mockery of the system, and get special treatment and laugh your way through life!!! She plans to write a book about the ordeal? Making money off your mistakes is no lesson learned; it is a shame.
We have regular young men and women dying in Iraq and Afganistan and other parts of the world to keep us free, and this "rich girl" acts like this and is allowed to act like this, but can not be responsible enough to pay for "her mistakes"?
This opens up a "HUGE" can of worms in America and sheds the spot light on the masses versus the priveledged. For example, regular Americans send their sons and daughters into battle and harms way, the wealthy, well, you can figure it out for yourselves......... It is the regular Americans in the past and right now serving in the military, that keep this country safe and there are some serious spoiled brats out there at this moment idolizing Paris' actions. At least in England the Princes have the choice to serve in the military like Prince Harry currently is!
Our society needs to get this right, we have let way too much go at the expense of morality and honest hard work to the point is has been very disgusting. This is what happens when you coddle the young way too much. I would like to say "Welcome to the "Real World" Paris", but currently she is at home in her "real world".
That sheriff that let her go needs to go, I wonder if we will find out if he took some huge pay off. We also need to take a real hard look into and defining what it means to all of us to be "American" . Having two America's one at the expense of the other, because of money will bring our nation down at some point in time. Because of Money.

It definitely sends a wrong message about the justice system..

This early release may have been pre-arranged prior to that spoiled brat ever spending a night in the LA County Detention Center. If she was released early because of her non-violent status and over-crowding then give that reason because that would be a common practice and far more acceptable than for an "undisclosed medical condition".
This situatation reinforces the belief of a two-tiered justice system when it comes to the "Hollywood types" or the very affluent.
Another interesting procedure with the LA County Sheriff's Department. As long as a person reports to the facility before mid-night to begin their sentence they receive credit for that entire day and when released in the early morning, credit is also given for the entire day. That was the explanation of how the spoiled one served 5 days of her sentence.
Right now it sends the wrong image and message about the justice system in LA County.

Two things to think about:
Maybe the rash was genital and contagious.
Maybe the other inmates voted her off the island.

I wouldn't have objected to the lenient sentence at the start. However, when she clearly and intentionally ignored the Court's Order, I would have given her the MAX! WWED (what would eddie do)?

I find it hard to believe that she will be going back to serve 45 days. If I'm not mistaking her original sentence was 45 days and at this time she has technically served atleast 5 days prior to being "re-assigned" to house arrest.
If her attorneys appeals fall short I don't see how she will have to do more than 40 days. What a shame for

LOS ANGELES - Screaming and crying, Paris Hilton was escorted out of a courtroom and back to jail Friday after a judge ruled that she must serve out her entire 45-day sentence behind bars rather than in her Hollywood Hills home.
"It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton, who violated her parole in a reckless driving case. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience.
Hilton, who was brought to court in handcuffs in a sheriff's car, came into the courtroom disheveled and weeping, hair askew, sans makeup, wearing a gray fuzzy sweatshirt over slacks.
She cried throughout the hearing, her body shook constantly and she dabbed at her eyes. Several times she turned to her parents, seated behind her in the courtroom, and mouthed, "I love you."

Proof again that fact trumps fiction. This is a better story than any
“Hollywierd” writer could ever come up with.
I guess the jailer is now saying, “We’ll always have Paris”….(at least for 45 days)….

This stinkin "socialite" thinks she's above the law!
Evidently when she was told that she would be subjected to a "cavity" search she showed up at the jail with her Dentist! :wall:

You know...I'm getting really tired and angry hearing about Paris Hilton. I just think people need to really get off her case.
I don't like the things that she might or may not have done and in no way am I defending her but the news about her is getting freaking tiresome.

"Might or might not have done"?
Obviously you haven't read the charges that she was CONVICTED of, and if you're referring to "what she might or might not of done" with regards to her being released to "house arrest", then that makes no sense either.
Was the original sentence too harsh? Perhaps, perhaps not. Should she have been sent a clear message by the Judge in this latest incident that she's not above the law just because she was conceived by rich parents, ABSOLUTELY!
Make her go away, WHO CARES!?!?:wall: :wall:

Kick,
You are so right. Who cares about Miss Hilton? I don't care for the news about her to tell you the truth and everyone needs to leave her alone. I mean, sheesh!

MUCSteeler, you are right that the media attention on this spoiled brat is way too much, but Paris is the lightening rod for this huge issue, (the other stories we will never hear about that go on). When she was released, that really faned the flames of fury against her and the truth about priveleged people and the law which is supposed to be for every American citizen. For me, it makes me angry that the wealthy can and do get away with the things they shouldn't. A common man will pay the price. No secret there.
Not changing the subject of this forum I started, but, (I am not Democrat -bashing here, but just making an observation), during the Democrat campaigns recently, there have been a few Hollywood celebs attached to the political parties appearances around the country. Sing a song or two, wave, give their opinions (which they are entitled to like us). People are star struck and do what they are told or asked of just because someone famous waves at them--it is really pathetic! The point I am leading up to is this:
God forbid if a nuke ever went off in our country and it affected not just the tens of millions of regular-people but also the wealthy including the celebs. But, who do you think will be on their private jets getting to safety in some other country? After the dust settles back in mainland America, then come back and sing a sad song and make millions of dollars off that. This is why people should not be put on pedestals, because they are human too and will disappoint you ever time. Entertain me yes, but do not use your high status to make me think the way you do, just by singing a song, or waving at me because you are famous. The famous wave at the crowd in general one person waving at millions and everyone in that crowd thinks it is personal. How dumb!
Attention on Paris Hilton is ridiculous, the media circus gives her way too much and all she can really say to America is: "That's Hot?" This is news about the wealthy getting away with the laws put in place for citizens of this country. If Paris hit someone while intoxicated, and got away with it, tell that to Mother Against Driving Drunk. The girl had 3 chances and took none of it seriously, suspended driving liscence. To us driving is a privelege that can be taken away--that is law. Well, for the common man.
