That's a pretty good, accurate assessment of the Comets. Right now, it's hard to say just how good Solon will be. If the QB and OL come through, we'll have a good year. Last year, those positions were weaknesses. It's good to hear McQ say that competition is open at QB, as the Comets have a sophomore who is a potential impact player. The defense should be solid. The LB corps is the strongest unit on the team; Greer and Skonezny (along with Tonelli at FB-DE) are probably Solon's best players.

A lot of things went wrong for Solon in 2006; it was the program's most disappointing season in years. I'm encouraged to hear that both players and coaches have resolved to never let it happen again.

We're all looking forward to our visit to PBTS in Week 2.

Welcome to the board. We're looking forward to it as well. Personally, I've been hoping to add you guys and keep you for awhile because I think it would be a good battle every year and the schools are pretty close in size. Been to your stadium several times and it's really a great facility. I've mentioned this before on here, it's a very nice area with lot's of great places to eat if we travel to your house. Anyway, good luck....

I'd love to see Solon and Massillon play beyond this season. I know that sometime around 2000, our schools discussed a series. At that time, Massillon was unwilling to play at Solon, so the deal fell through. The Tigers thought that the capacity was too small and they didn't want to play on grass. But we've got FieldTurf now and while the stadium is still the same size, it's nearly as big as Mentor's, and the Tigers played a roadie there.

I love playing new, non-fed teams that have not been on our schedule before. Let's think about making this home and home. Welcome Mr. Comet, enjoy yourself, but not too much.:sunny:

Thanks, MTiger. I usually catch one or two Massillon games a year, so I'm quite aware of the Tigers' tradition and of the atmosphere at PBTS. And I know Massillon is going to be loaded this year. I think Solon will be pretty good. We could be might be even better than that if everything falls into place, but right now we still have some questions.

Solon has been a real ˝blue collar˝team for quite some time, and always get stuck in the shadow of St Iggy and St Eds. Best of luck to Solon this year.
