First and foremost.

The error in last night's broadcast was my fault. I errantly posted the IP address of a wrong server, which limited their number of connections.

This has now been fixed and we will now realize the full amount of slots on the webcast server...

I'm extremely sorry for this error. It will not happen on my end again.

Secondly, It has been suggested that MP and/or RadioMassillon.com create a "podcast" for later download of games, etc. I personally have entertained the thought of it, but that's the extent. I have seen a program called MP3VCR at http://www.mp3vcr.com which records Winamp Streams.

If someone (anyone) would like to record these, I'd be more than happy to host them on MP, as we do have more than enough bandwidth to host it.

Any Volunteers? TigerBeat?

Go Tigers!

It is truly 'live and learn' when it comes to technology. I must apologize to all
who had problems tuning into the game , or lost the broadcast in the third
quarter.. I will not go into all of the tech garb as to why the crash happened..
it was basically a mix up with ip addresses etc..we do know the problem was not with our server.. the numbers and addresses have been corrected..next
week, I invite all of you to tune into www.radiomassillon.com for all the play by play action.. all the bugs should be worked out..

thanks for your input.......goooooooooo T I G E R S !!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it would be more entertaining to record some of the posts in the Chat Room. Angfento was trashed on whiskey and was being foolish.

Hey!
I wasn't trashed! Just feelling happy!:drinkem:

Oh yeah and it wasn't whiskey it was Ciclon- a Bacardi rum infused with Blue Agave Tequila! Thank you very much!

Apology accepted, my friend!! For the first-ever over-the-internet live broadcast of a Tiger game, a "bug" had to be expected. I must say the audio quality was superb; and both commentators did a commendable job.

Just have the li'l glitch fixed by week #3. :coolgleam:

Not a problem Jimbo...sorry if I was a little upset...just that being all the way out here and not able to listen after all the hype was a little dissapointing. Let me look at iTunes and see what I can come up with for a podcast. I'm not sure I can record the game if I'm not able to get into the game and listen. I suggest having radiomassillon do this with a digital recorder or mp3 player, then upload it. All this tech stuff is so new. But anyhow, we learn.

Hey gang..

referring to a podcast or some sort of a playback solution; I talked with our tech guy.. he said it shouldn't be a big deal.. we were all just really busy trying to get everything worked out; that the playback option was not a priority..i'll check into it this week.. in reference to the Friday
broadcast.. I was told that after the 3rd quarter crash, we were up for the
rest of the game.. Sorry for the incovenience we will try our hardest to make sure ya all get a clean
feed for the entire game and the entire season

We did great for the 1st broadcast ever! there are always bugs to work out, practice makes perfect. I just wonder if any other high school webcasts their games, or is massillon coming in first again by setting the trends?

I also think we should record the games and play them back in a rotation at radio massillon. I would like to see them available for download too. We would need someone out there to do the recording, all you need is the computer you are reading this post with. If anyone has any interest in recording the games, please speak up :-)

Is easy to do, and I can provide the software and some training if needed if someone wants to do the recording. Once recorded it would be a breeze to put it rotation at radio Massillon, and I could make it available as a podcast, no problem.

Several schools have been doing this for years. Elder and Iggy come to mind as having done this for awhile. Check out all the different feeds to high school games at this site.

For the short time I was able to connect with the webcast, I was very impressed with the audio quality. Digital is great, isn't it?? My thanks goes out to all those who helped put this together in any way. We out-of-towners appreciate it. I might add that some of us in the chatroom experienced lag times in the webcast of up to 3 minutes. Or, after re-connecting after losing the initial connection, the webcast would replay the audio that was last heard from the prior connection. Is that going to be the norm or will that be ironed out with the other issues? Thanks

DRAYZEE would know better on this, but I think there will always be buffer
or (lag time) because of processing.. there are two different buffer zones that we are working with.. I'm sure that we will always be a little behind the chat room.. it will be up to all of you to choose which source you would want to use..we will however work to shorten the buffer zones as much as possible..
as far as repeating an audio segment, that happened because of the same
buffering when someone connects or reconnects..

You were so drunk anyway you couldn't even type. What makes the difference if you didn't get in. You wouldn't have understood it anyway!!

The chat room was listening to the webcast as well. Just seemed that some of the members were way ahead of others in the broadcast. The buffer situation sounds like a plausible explanation...thanks

First let me say that if everyone would have followed our simple instructions to tune into the show you would not be aware of the buffering, and everyone would have been on the same page during the game while you chatted.

AGAIN TO LISTEN TO THE GAME - GO TO RADIO MASSILLON.COM AND CLICK THE LINK, IT'S THAT SIMPLE.

Now for the buffering - did you know that the cd player in your car buffers 15 seconds or so of the cd you are playing so when you hit bumps and chuck holes, it doesn't skip?

The same principal works for the webcast, if there are hic-ups on the web, we buffer 30 to 45 seconds of audio to prevent skips IT IS NECEAASRY TO DO THIS. The audio feed is about 2 minutes behind the game. If you want to hear the game real-time, buy a ticket and go to it.

JD broadcasts from 3 different locations, all three locations feed the same relay server, the relay server sends the audio feed to a server on the internet, where he pays for bandwidth and YOU the listeners are supposed to tune in. Unfortunately during the game last friday night, no-one listed to us on how to tune in to the game. Some of you were logging into the relay server, some of you were logging into 24 server, 2 different servers, 2 different buffer times, one feed out of sync with the other. And our relay server crashed in the 3rd quarter because everyone was trying to log in to the WRONG server. The server you were trying to access was designed to handle 3 listeners for administration purposes only.

I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH, TO LISTEN TO THE GAME OR ANY SHOW JD PUTS ON, GOTO RADIOMASSILLON.COM AND CLICK THE LINK THAT SAYS LISTEN NOW. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!

We are still looking for someone to volunteer to record the games? Anyone interested?

The chat room was listening to the webcast as well.

Actually, I was listening to the WTIG broadcast on the radio.
