Last night, a Cleveland Police Officer responding to a domestic call, was gunned down from5 feet away, by a thug with a stolen gun. The thug was apprehended later in the evening , hiding in a house that he broke into, a street away.
Maybe he thought he was in a new rap video.
If I were involved, he would have been apprehended DEAD. Why do the thugs have no respect for human life. Is Cleveland turning into the next Detroit ???

If the cop would have shot him first he would have been charged with using excessive force. And, Art McKoy and the boys would have been demanding... No Justice....No Peace.

Only 31 years old and had seven years on the force. Truly sad. Peace Officer Memorial Day was held earlier this month and events like these truly make you think. Thanks to our safety forces for all you do.

It was a Cleveland Heights police officer that was killed.
Officer Jason West was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance.
Officer West was shot in the left side of the head on Altamont Road after a disturbance near Severance Town Center at about 9:45 pm. There was a loud party that erupted into a fight over a woman. He arrived first, blocking a car in the driveway that was attempting to leave. The suspected shooter was in another parked car who fired at the officer as soon as he got out of his patrol car. The suspect then exited his vehicle and approached the officer, firing more shots.
As the suspect fled north to Beechwood Avenue, he ditched the gun in a neighboring driveway before breaking into a woman's house, who fled unharmed. Officers found the suspect hiding on the second floor and took him into custody.
The gun was reported stolen from a home in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, on September 20th, 2006.
Officer West was transported to Huron Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
He had served with the Cleveland Heights Police Department for seven years. Officer West is survived by his parents and sister.

I'm sure the gunman had a rough child-hood. Probably, from a single-parent home. I recommend probation.

This is what the once great American cities have become. Twenty-five years ago Cleveland Heights was renowned for it's tremendous schools (twenty to thirty National Merit Scholars typically), now it is known for crimes like this.
But we dare not speak of the reasons for this.

Some people have no respect for today's authority. If they catch the perpetrator, he too should be punished for his failure to think about the consequences and the chances he took.
It's saddening when a police officer gets killed in the line of duty.

This is what the once great American cities have become...
I think it was the Greek philosopher Zeno that said "Cities are not the heart of a civilization, they are it's tombs."
