The gun didn't bitch about who was on its lawn, the gun didn't point itself at the boy, and the gun didn't pull its own trigger. Leave the gun out of it and throw the key away to the whack job that did this.

That is obvious Carl, but if the unbalanced whack job didn't have access to a gun, someone's son would still be alive today. The grieving parents and family members can never have their child back no matter how much time he does behind bars.

I understand. I just really really hate these never-ending scenarios of people losing their lives at the hands of so many incompetent or mentally unbalanced gun slingers these days.

You raise a good question "why did he only get life?" It is very hard to understand why the jurors couldn't agree upon the fact that he had planned the murder. If loading your gun and sitting in wait isn't "planned" , then I'd like to know what the heck is:stars:
