I think these first two opponents are more and less scrimmage teams for the Tigers - they know they can handle them. The first test will come at Cincy!!
Once the team comes together look out - they have some real talent - especially on the offense along with some good size on both lines.
I think these two tune up games will really help the Tigers sort things out on defense - I don't think they need any help on offense.
I am going to wait until Moeller to see what Massillon really has - especially on defense. I have to say walking behind the end zone during pre-game - we have some serious athletes on this team that will be tough to defense starting Sept 9th.

While I agree that these first two games are just an extension of our scrimmage season, I am now starting to wonder just what kind of test Moeller will be, seeing that they lost last night to Lakota West 13-12.
I still have some concerns about our defense. I feel that we gave up WAY too many yards last night to a team that we extremely out athleted.

I agree with Benchboss1 about our D. Need a better pass rush. Were there any sacks? North Park had a few dropped passes that could have moved the ball down the field. With a good passing team,we could be in for a long night. The O,,,,, soooooooooooo many weapons. Hey Bush, if you want to find WMD, well you only need to look here  . One down...........:gotigers:

We have our problems and so does Moeller (26-0 deficit against Colerain in last week's scrimmage). Even Ignatius is struggling. So let's see who puts it together first.

I wouldn't be too quick to judge. Lakota West is the "Mentor" of southern Ohio. They have had solid teams past. 13-12 just sounds like an awesome defensive game to me. :scratchchin:

To TD's point - I saw the Iggy just squeeked past Boardman last night. I haven't followed closely, but hasn't Boardman struggled in the Fed in the last couple years? Are they that much better this year or is Iggy down or was it just an oddball game?
I know there's some Iggy fans that post here - I'm interested in your perspective.

I have to agree with everyone about the defense.....the secondary played well and North Parks running back was a load but we had poor tackling.
Did anybody notice the play of Justin Turner on Nickels 43yd touchdown run?? JT was in the Tiger backfield and about 15 yards behind Nickels when he broke through the line. JT sprinted down the Tiger sideline passed Nickels and laid a crushing block on the North Park defender at about the two yardline. Turner looked like a sprinter going down the field....it just goes to show you how much speed we have on this team!:gogogo:

Great to see Cody get the score !! He's a good kid, and he was SUPER PUMPED after the TD. Nice to see the younger kids get an opportunity !!:gogogo:

Woodson ended the two-time defending West Virginia AAA State Champion Morgantown Mohigans 28 game winning streak, so hopefully the competition level is slightly better this week.

Scooch- Do you have any link to info on the Woodson win? We may be in for more than a scrimmage Saturday!

Regarding our potent offense and (perceived) defensive concerns:
Remember, you can't score if your defense is on the field all night. Need to address any concerns real quick, like in less than two weeks.

Is it possible that our coaches have been sticking to the base "D" which could be leading to some of the apparent "problems".

As long as Jack Rose isn't the D cordinator, we'll be OK. My worst memory of being AT Moeller, was blowing a halftime lead, by letting the Moe QB roll into trips, and pick apart the defense. Very sad !!!!:doh2:
Obie Wan,
Boardman is improved (you can only go up after winning one game in 2 years,) but Ignatius is WAY down this year.
You'll see when we visit Massillon later this year. The Tigers should roll by 3 scores.

you can never count iggy out against anyone. this was the same program that many people thought had a down year when they went 6-4 in the regular season....only to step it up and win the title.
no one should take iggy lightly this year.....or any year for that matter.

I have previously made that point. Let's temper the criticism for now. Weeks 3 & 4 will be much more valid in gauging the defense.

A few weeks back Stacey said he would show base formations on "O" and "D" because he knows the schedule gets challanging in a few weeks.

mtownwr22,
One asset I like aside from Justin Turner's speed is that he is at his toughest in the third and fourth quarter of games. Defenses have a hard time bringing him down over the course of a game and that is a big reason why Massillon claimed seven victims as freshmen last year.
Look for the JV team to claim some victims as well.
Oh and I've been meaning to get back to you about the freshmen win against Ignatius last year. I've never met Steve Studer before but I know that he would have been PROUD of the way you guys kept Ignatius out of the end zone four times inside the five...you guys were emaciated big time but I always judge a defense on how well they play when they are tired......and you guys did not disappoint in a 19-18 win.
