Here's a view of the field from the police webcam. This thing should update every five minutes, if not you can go into the parent directory and get snapshots as the work has progressed.

I believe the lettering in the endzone is going to be gray.
As of Thursday afternoon, work crews had installed the new field and were working on putting the lettering for “OHIO STATE” in each end zone. FieldTurf Tarkett is the firm commissioned to install the new field at a price of roughly $800,000
At that price it looks like PBTS got a bargain :oh: Maybe red endzones and a block O are more expensive :scratchchin:

They were also going from grass to turf, we were going from turf to turf... there is quite a difference actually.

So, with PBTS, are our end zones going to be black or orange? With how dark the field is going to be, I ( my opinion ) would like to see a bigger Obie then the previous one on the fifty. The dark green would really bring out Obie's colors. OSU looks good.

Tressel, who saw the sod in Ohio Stadium replaced twice last season as the grounds crew grappled with uncooperative weather and near impossible growing conditions, likes the fact that the state-of-the-art artificial surface will allow Ohio State to use the facility for events like next month's graduation ceremony and possibly high school playoff games.
"I am excited about the amount of use the greatest stadium in America will now be able to have," Tressel said. "We will now have the luxury of having consistent playability."

He has been a supporter of moving the championship games to Columbus for many years. Now it's has been debated whether he's doing it because he thinks it will be a better option or doing it as a possible recruiting tool.
Any long time high school football fan remembers how the games were in Columbus. Even the largest D-1 crowds were swallowed up by the monstrosity of the facility.
The OHSAA has repeatedly listed its requirements for hosting the championship games. And Stark County is the only one who has met those requirements. And PBTS and Fawcett are only getting better.

I would think that the OHSAA would look upon a bid from Columbus more favorably with OSU on board. That said, Stark is still the better choice.

With as much pull as Tressel has in this state....if he wants the games in Ohio Stadium, eventually he's going to get it.

OHSAA still sees only green. If they are awarded to C-bus, they better churn some butter, or Stark County will get them back.

Can anyone find the attendance for the games when they were played in Columbus?

When Tressel visited Washington High School a month back and his brother Dick last week they both said the OHSAA football championships will stay in Stark County.

Now, come on, what do you really think motivates his thinking, LTFT?? Further, the best stadium in the country?? I don't think so.
The new OSU surface is very nice looking. But keep the high school games at PBTS and Fawcett. I remember when Warren Harding beat Moeller at Ohio Stadium in 1974. It looked liked people simply showed up for a scrimmage.

The last time they were there in 89'
Div 1 = 17,667
Div 2 and 4 (doubleheader) = 13,679
Div 3 and 5 (doubleheader) = 12,235
Total = 43,581 or an avg of 8,716 a game.
This year for just D1 thru D5 the total attendance was 42,937,,,,although 8,000 at PBTS looks a million times better then 8,000 at OSU.

Thanks for the stats. The Cinci posters whine and say the attendance would be better if the games were centrally located. The fact is they wouldn't, they'd be about the same at best. And we know how the Columbus football fans turn out for the North-South game (they don't). And I agree, the crowd looks and sounds better at PBTS than OSU.

Also, keep in mind that the weather for the All Star game is quite a bit better than the State Finals in December !!

C'mom the university pays him a few million dollars a year. You expect comments like that.

They wouldn't have to pay me 10˘ or $100,000,000,000 to say that about PBTS....IT'S the GREATEST STADIUM in America...bar none.
