I'll be there in a blue three-piece...the one I wore at the Cincinnati St. Xavier-Massillon 2005 state title game!
I'll see if I can bring some of Marco's pizza once again!!
Having said that...I want to send this song out to MTown and Bambo. These two guys make tailgating all the fun down with a great food feast down the beast of Massillon streets...Lincoln Way East!

When the pressure is on......are you going to maintain a cool form or will you go down in the eye of the storm?

I will make it to one of these tailgate parties yet, but not this weekend. Going down to Columbus for the Buckeyes opener. We have some cool tailgate parties there too. I'll be partying there this weekend and for the Penn State game weekend.

I think we have to give them a break.
Weddings need to be planned WAY in advance.
As I recall, the schedule wasn't.

Hey, not my wedding man. He planned this date sometime around the new year. I'll be at the game, but hey, at least it's not the McKinley game or something silly like that.

DAWGH8R,
My suit is light blue. Not dark blue. You, Seeker, and Obie Wan are trying to be my fashion designers, eh  !
I'll see you all in the north gravel pit along with the rest of the Massillon military for the battle against the forces from Washington Woodson (D.C.).

My wife wanted a fall wedding. I compromised. I made sure the date of the rehearsal dinner fell on one of the "sleeper games."

Why wear a suit? I'd like to see you in a pair of jeans with a Massillon T-shirt of sweatshirt. In all the years I've known you, I've never seen you in something other than a suit.
Chnage things up a bit, Keno. Maybe get a jersey from Howard's or something. That would look good. :2thumbsup:

PurpleArmy,
You have to excuse my obsession for suits. It goes with my professional attire. As Charles Barkley once said during halftime of a TNT basketball game: "If I had to hire someone between someone dressed in a suit and someone dressed in ragged clothing, I'd hire the guy in a suit."
PurpleArmy
08-31-2006, 12:18 PM
I understand Barkley's comment and I would agree with that if you were going for a job interview.
However, you're not applying for a job, you're there to write about the game. I admire you wanting to look polished and professional, but you don't always have to go with a suit.
I think it's perfectly acceptable to wear something like a nice pair of khakis and a collared shirt with a Massillon emblem on it games.
The full 3 piece suit just seems a little over the top sometimes. Even a dress shirt without a tie and a nice sports jacket would look better, imo.
Just my opinion, so don't be offended. I help JWest pick out his stuff all the time. I guess it's just something us women like to do. :drinkem:
Keno
Just don't wear a purple boa  :puke:

I'll second that one, Keno....heck, I wouldn't wear a purple boa, either.
In fact, I don't wear much purple as it is. I have a few Jackson T-shirts, and a couple of other things, but that's about it.

I am suffering through this right now, too. My own freaking sister has planned her wedding next fall. I couldn't believe it. My dad and I are ticked. Weddings are for April, May, June, July, and August. The fall is for football. But she has to have the fall wedding, and then she'll be upset when most of the guys at the reception are huddled around the TV trying to watch the Ohio State game. I've seen this happen many, many times.
God help me if she would have picked the Saturday of Ohio State/Michigan or Massillon/McKinley. I don't know if I could handle it.

There were going to be no problems on our wedding day. Ohio State played early, the ceremony was later in the afternoon. Well things don't always work out as planned. The game became an overtime marathon. One of the rooms in the church was packed with men listening to the game. The wedding started a few minutes late. Fortunately that cannot be blamed on me. The pastor showed up late. I've wondered if he too was listening to the game.

Hello Pot, Meet Kettle
Ohhhhh.....now I get it. Yet another thinly veiled snide remark directed at me by Al.
I wore a lavender suede coat with a lamb collar to the Mass-McK game last year. So I'm assuming that you mistakening thought I was wearing a boa....lol
Hilarious. Although there's a difference between a boa and a coat. Also, purple and lavender aren't the same thing, Al. May I suggest that you purchase the Crayola 64 pack and do some remedial studying of your colors?
Man, for someone who despises me so much, you sure do keep track of a lot of things about me....where I live, what I wear, stuff about my kids, my husband, etc. Frankly, it's a little creepy. :poke:

actually, this very topic (football and weddings) was discussed when i was going to get married 6 years ago...we were getting married at the end of november...the fear was that it would interfere with the ohio state-michigan game...we had to get the calendar out and check it before settling on the date...they actually joked that they were going to put a little tv on the altar so they could check the score from time to time...if, it turned out to be that day...we were safe about that day...
two years ago, my son's friend got married in cincy...the minister doing the ceremony was from ben roethlisberger's church here in findlay...so, he was in the bar area of the inn watching the game up until the last moment...along with the groom and others...since it was pittsburgh and cincy (i think)...things were pretty touch and go...with the minister sitting there cheering for ben...there in cincy country...
women...face it...there are certain "religious" holidays for the male species...the first thing a gal has to find out, is when his, is...my first husband had two special days connected with ham radio...the second is the sports freak...so, it is a good thing that i was raised in massillon...and totally understand these things...and if this is their worst vice...you are a lucky person...
ps...a dear friend of mine got married in march...good timing according to her...basically was between seasons (after football...before the ncaa basketball tourney)...the weather wasn't great...people were looking for things to do that day...she actually had almost everyone she invited there...and that was over 300 people...

I don't blame people for organizing things like weddings and parties around things they enjoy- like football games. Why not?
Life is supposed to be something you enjoy, and if you can make up your schedule so you can attend more things that are enjoyable to you- where's the harm in it?
shortbev...I agree about men's vices. Any women whose husband's worse "vice" is football or other kinds of sports should count herself lucky. My ex-husband scheduled our activities around his going out and partying with his buddies, which obviously, was something that was NOT able to include his children or his wife.

C'mon PA, asking a guy to differentiate between purple and lavender is like hoping he will remember what you wore on your second date or expecting him to replace the toilet roll. It ain't happening! Also all this time I thought your font was purple. It's actually dark orchid. Who knew?

That wasn't the point. And is Al also not able to differentiate between a boa and an entire coat? Maybe he's in need of more than remedial color recognition.
As far as the weather tomorrow, here's the latest forecast from weather.com for Massillon:
Tomorrow: Showers early becoming less numerous later in the day. High 68F. Winds NE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%. Rainfall around a half an inch.
Tomorrow night: A few showers early with overcast skies late. Low 56F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
Looks like ponchos and awnings will be in order for the tailgate. Have fun tomorrow and try to stay dry everyone.
Good luck to the Tigers tomorrow night. :)

Thanks, DAWGH8R. Although I wasn't in the hospital for that. My doctor found a tumor in one of my lymph nodes, plus I have another one by my jaw, so I was getting tests run for them. Man, the fun never ends! :wall:
Hopefully, I'll be able to stop by one of your tailgates sometime this season and say hello and check out all your new stuff. It all looks great!
BTW- how's Brandi doing? Is she fully recovered and doing well? Tell her I send my best wishes. :drinkem:

She goes back Tuesday. Still an issue with a twisted bowel. LOTSA PAIN.
She had to take a break from the tailgate and go home for a few minutes yesterday. She was "ALL IN" by the end of the day.
Our next tailgate will be AT Mentor.
On the 16th, we have a benefit poker run, leaving from The Towpath. It's a benefit run for BRANDI, to help compensate with her lost wages, etc.
Hopefully, she'll be up for it! :offtopic:
