Here are the week-by-week schedules for McKinley and Massillon. If each team on our repective schedules were playing each other during those weeks, which team would YOU pick to win?

For examples: You'd probably pick Toledo Start to defeat North Park, Canada in week #1. And you'd probably pick Washington D.C. Woodson to win over Waterdown, Canada in week #2.

Go through the schedules, and discover how many times McKinley's opponents would defeat Massillon's opponents, or vice versa.

McKinley Schedule vs Massillon Schedule

1 Toledo Start vs North Park (Canada)
2 Hamilton Waterdown (Canada) vs Washington D.C. Woodson
3 Lake vs Cincinnati Moeller

4 North Canton vs Hamilton High, Arizona
5 Glen Oak vs Mentor
6 Austintown vs Cleveland St. Ignatius

7 Perry vs Akron Buchtel
8 Boardman vs Warren Harding
9 Jackson vs Cincinnati Western Hills

10 Canton Bulldogs vs Massillon Tigers

In the 10 weeks, I find the Massillon side of things coming out ahead. Way ahead. I have made my picks in bold. Do you see it the same? If not, where do you disagree? (It appears to me that Massillon is the only genuine powerhouse McKinley plays!)

That's the problem in joining the Federal League.

Hi, good friend, how are ya?

TigerCarl, I think you pretty much pegged them all correctly. The only possible one that could be a flip flop would be the Waterdown/D.C. Woodson game, but who knows. Boy would it suck to have to sit and watch that game!!

The only schedule that matters is Weeks 11-15.

I don't see it much differently with the exception of the 2nd matchup that has already been mentioned. What a stinker that would indeed be.

Just FYI the teams McKinley is playing this year (including Massillon) had a 2005 composite record of 52-51. The teams Massillon is playing this year (excluding Northpark Canada who doesn't post their record from last season) had a composite record of 61-40 last season. I know it doesn't mean squat in 2006 but I thought I'd pass it along.

N.C. Hoover returns 9 starters on defense from last years team.

Hoover has made the play-offs something like 8 of the last 9 years.

I think the OHIO team would win this one.....which is N.C. Hoover.

Yeah, but nine players that suck with a year's experience are still nine Fed players that suck. Not sure what you're point is. I'm sure the DC team returns a number of players. Again, who cares?

Tiger Paw,

That was almost an insult to Massillon Football...considering the quality of our opponent in Hamilton (see link below)
I do NOT expect to see NC in the Herbstreit Classic! Probably ever!

Sorry,i was just pointing out that N.C. Hoover is favored to beat out McKinley for the Fed championship THIS YEAR due to returning 9 starters on defense(defense wins championships)and a good offensive with about 5 players who did not play last year to injury.

They also have a 6'5" QB that is supposed to be the 2nd coming of Todd Blackledge.

I hate N.C. Hoover and the Fed,but just stating the facts.Hoover is better than McKinley but are trying to fly below the radar.

Hoover would beat the OUT OF STATE team IMO.

That is what my point is and was.....geeezzzz, lighten up pal.

Mckinley's scheduled is boring. How can their fans, players & coaches get exited and pumped up during the season playing that schedule. It has no appeal.
I remember when they played Iggy & Warren...those were good and exiting games. They helped make the season fun for their fans.
I love our schedule. This is going to be one exiting season. We have games we will talk about for a week prior and a week after. We have games that on Monday we will be saying: "I can't wait until Friday / Sat gets here."

Go Tigers

It is now 8:08 am, and Michigan still sucks.

The federal league is no good. We have only lost 3 or 4 games to federal league teams not including mcKinley in our long great tradition. (Glenoak-1, Austintown fitch-2, and Perry-1). I was in the army in the 1990's so i might be off a game or 2, but it can't be much. Massillon would win the federal league 24 out of 25 years. I like the strength of the schedule we have. Play the teams you need to play to prepare for week 15 baby!

Warren Harding returns much of last year's team also. I'd worry more about Warren than Hoover.

I believe Warren & Hoover will meet in scrimmage; that'll be interesting.

I wish we could play Hoover 10 times this year. Might be boring but not nearly as brutal. Honestly, whoever told you Hoover is favored over Mckinley this year is high on crank or yankin your chain.

The Cleveland Indians returned 7 of 8 starters from last year and 3 starting pitchers. Looks like their having a great year!

With Warrens new move in QB.,you better be worried about Warren. He has a great arm and will make them a dangerous team with his passing and their great running back. GO TIGERS

Monte, we lost to Fitch twice, but they were not in the Fed then. They were in the Steel Valley. They also beat Iggy once during that time. The only true Fed teams we have lost to are Mckinley, Perry and GlenOak.

The person who told me is the same person who told me McKinley lost there ENTIRE OL and return only 3 starters on defense!

Correction...McKinley returns 1 starter on there OL.....And lost almost everyone on the DL also.

McKinley returns very little this year UP FRONT on both sides of the ball and lost ALL there stude line-backers from last year.

Morgan Williams and Sheeler are there only good returning starters from last year.Hoover is better than McKinley THIS YEAR and I pick them to beat the OUT OF STATE team.

Every other pick i agree with.Lets settle down and talk like two adults.:help2:

You do know Mckinley got 4 big-time transfers this year too right? Including George Tabron one of the best LB's in Ohio, let alone Stark's best. They return the best QB they had in years, and an all-Ohio TB who will break their all-time rushing record. I could go on & on but lets just say it will be VERY hard to find someone to agree w/ you. But if you are right then you're a genius - good luck.

I don't think their QB is all that good. He had the game of his life against us in the first matchup, but I think his performance in the playoff game is closer to his actual talent level.

However, he is better than Palumbo. I still cannot believe there wasn't a better QB candidate at McK during those years.

Tiger Paw,

North Canton Hoover hasn't had a 6'5'' quarterback since Bill Liber starred for the Vikings.

MTown,

Ben Palumbo wasn't never really the same after a 35-7 loss to Massillon. He played all of 1999 with a shoulder injury and he was never the same after that. Other than providing a scare to the Tigers in the 2001 contest, he really wasn't the type of a Ben McDaniels (who knew how to win games).

Remember just a few years ago when McKinley ripped on us for getting transfers and talked about winning with home grown talent? All I know is if we got 4 big time transfers, we would be under investigation in a heart beat.

I like how they ripped us and yet they have always had transfers. every school in are county probably gets transfers. did you know when we had the scott kid thing going on we had a kid transfer to perry!!! and yet fakefield was miffed about j.s. leaving even when wakey wouldn't of used him right anyway.:bs:

even though everyone says McKinleys schedule doesnt prepare them and its no challenge. Look what they did in week 10 to a team that was prepared and did have a challenging schedule. We shouldnt talk bad about a team bc of there lousy schedule. I remember McKinley week people were saying that were goina beat McKinley pretty bad. Were both 9-0 but weve had the tough preparing games. It doesnt really matter who you have played throughout the season.

... Look what they did in week 10 to a team that was prepared ....

I'm of the opinion the Massillon coaches did more "sand-bagging" that week than New Orleans did for that hurricane ... and the week 13 game vs McKinley was more indicative of the differences between the two teams.

The sporting news has come out with their pre season top 50 teams and Hamilton Arizona is rated #15. North Canton is not rated. The Tigers are rated # 33 so do not take this team lightly. The other Ohio teams that made the list are St. Eds who is rated #5 and St. X. who I think was #18 and Cinn. Colerain was #43. GO TIGERS

I know fitch just joined the federal league a few years ago. i wes on the team last lost to fitch 20-19 when jeff Wilkens kicked the 47 yarder with 3 ticks in the game. I cried for days because that stopped our undefeated season in 1988. I was just pointing out that besides Mckinley the talent level is minimal!
