Heard from a firefighter friend that the damage to the kitchen area is pretty extensive, which will obviously be very costly to repair/replace.

WHBC had the story on the 4:00 news. They report $300,000 in damges. That sounds pretty extensive to me. Is any of the damage visible from the outside?

Well, not that we want ANY place to be subject to this all I can say is thank GOD it wasn't The Alibi.

No damage can be seen from the outside. The manager said the kitchen is a total loss and smoke damage throughout the building as well as the usual water damage due to putting the fire out. Perhaps Fyrewood can give us some information on this?

I haven't said much cause I didn't want to say anything before the fire was common knowledge to the public. Anyways, the kitchen is basically destroyed, we stopped the fire there and saved the rest of the building, but there is heavy smoke damage throughout. Estimates are AT LEAST 6 weeks or more to repair, clean and re-open.

Thanks Fyrewood. The most important thing we must remember is thank god there was no injuries. Businesses can be replaced, but not human lives. My boss suspects someone either forgot to turn something off or it was an electrical problem. Another example why restaurant managers should check and recheck everything is off at night before they go home for the night and also inspect power cords on a regular basis. I feel bad for the folks at BW3. They have a nice friendly staff and management there. There is only one place to go from here and thats bigger and better. I wish them the best of luck.
Do you suppose Bob Evans could get some of there customers?
Might I say Fyrewood that you guys did an excellent job as always. I think Massillon has one of the best Fire Departments that we can be proud of.

It was good to be back. However I don't really like the new system they have in place where they have a hostess and you wait to be seated.
I liked it better before when you walk in and take any open table.
The food was good and the beer was even better.

I was all for supporting Massillon business and all, but they aren't /weren't even close to being in the ballpark on size/price of wings.

At ours you have the option of going to the counter and ordering your food and finding your own seat or having the hostess seat you and ordering from a server.
It is called Bufflo Wild Wings down here and when another guy from Ohio and I were talking about going to BW3, the North Carolina natives wondered what we were talking about.

I can't wait until quaker steak gets here.
BTW, nice healthy price increase at bw3.
11.99 for 18 wings, and you always get those 3-4 that are either inedible or else they are all fat.... so for 11.99 you basically get 14-15 edible wings, that appear they once sat next to a bucket of sauce that got a couple of drops on them.
B-Dubs has gone WAY down hill.
Oh well, I guess my $4 bottle of beer and nearly buck per wing went towards getting like 40 37" HD tvs.

That is the first time I have heard anyone complain about the product at Menches, although I have heard a few complain about the prices. But if you want just the regular Menches burger you can get 2 for 1 on Wed., I think.
FWIW, they are lowering some of their prices on a few items and they now have a Monday night wing night for .20a pc. That's def. a lot cheaper than Bdubs.Plus they have just started to serve cold beer:drinkem:

Let's put this in context: I had lunch at the Cameo on Thursday. Small Cameo Burger, $2.50; onion rings $1.50; ice tea, $.75. And they've been selling cold beer for years. :drinkem:
Having said that, I have absolutely no complaints about the one burger I ate from Menches.

...WTF?!
I was jut down there. Here are just a couple of my complaints/observations.
1. The host(s) looked more lost than I was.
2. It wasnt that busy, but it looked hectic because nobody knew what was going on.
3. It took about 5-7 minutes to get a table. Thats really stupid.
4. It took 7-10 minutes for someone to take our order.
5. It took 17-23 minutes to get our food.
6. It took EXACTLY 14 minutes to get our check.
7. 3 of us got there and got the table. Then 20 minutes later we had some more friends show up. When we asked to put some tables together they had to "ask a manager"!
8. Our waitress was great. I could tell it wasnt here fault for everything taking so long. This new "system" sucks! I made sure to give her a good tip.
This was not the place Ive been going to since highschool!
BW3's was my favorite place to go hang out. I can not stand the dim lighting of all the dive bars downtown. Im not sure I'll be spending as much money down there as I used to.

I like the fact that despite all the trouble you recognized that it wasn't the waitress' fault. Too many times she/he takes the brunt of the frustration when in fact they have nothing to do with it. Good call Tiger2001.
Now having said that, when I get there if it takes 10 minutes to get a beer they are going to have BIGGER problems than unorganization I PROMISE you that.

Sometimes it is the waitstaff that does the best job of getting the rest of the staff in line.
When poor performance in the kitchen starts to affect their tips, they can become very vocal with management.
Good waitstaff is hard to find, and if they threaten to leave because the rest of the operation is costing them money, the owners or managers will take action.
If you have a customer that is getting irritated due to poor performance by your corporate office, and it might cost you a commission, who is the one that takes charge and straightens things out?
Just food for thought.

Read what Seeker said.
Alot of things can affect the waitress. A slow kitchen, being under-staffed, a staff that is inexperienced, etc...
All of this has to do with the new corporate system they have going on down there. I could tell my waitress was busting her ass and doing the best possible job she could. Maybe im just being biased because I saw how she was working and not the kitchen workers?

I know that there are many things that can affect the server. Unless something was wrong with the computer system, there is no reason it should take 14 minutes to get your check. I would have tried to flag her down after 5-6 minutes. Seven to Ten minutes is also way to long to take your order, especially since you also mentioned in your original post that it wasn't that busy. The only reason that it could have taken so long for her to take your order is because the hostess didn't tell her. But a good waitress should be out checking on her tables often and recognize someone has been sat in her section.
None of us were there except you, so you are the only one that could see if she was doing her job well. If she was checking up on you, refilling drinks, etc., then sounds like she deserved a good tip. She can't control how long the food takes, that is on the kitchen. But I would still question the waits for taking your order and getting your check.

"ADIOS, PANCHO
Aficionados of Pancho’s Southwestern Grille food and margaritas still will have the Green location to visit after the Dressler Road NW restaurant closes July 14.
“We’ll be open there and honoring all gift certificates,” said manager Maury Sullivan Jr., whose father, Maury Sullivan, owns the Green restaurant.
He said a purchase deal for the restaurant and property closed a week ago Friday. New owners reportedly plan to go in, renovate and reopen as a different eatery.
Change is definitely afoot for that area. The Beggs RV Center and an adjoining equipment rental company property were purchased. A new Quaker Steak & Lube will go in beside Pancho’s, and Sullivan believes a small shopping plaza is planned for the property behind Pancho’s.
No word yet on the future incarnation of the former Sears Service Center."

Still no developments in the Lincoln Centre Phase III Project. Just knee high weeds on both sides of the base of the viaduct and behind the towne plaza. No shopping Center south of RT30. How come nothing ever gets done around here anymore?
I think a Hooters would be a perfect fit for Downtown Massillon to compete with BW3 and Kozmo's which in turn would improve service and possibly bring down prices to a competitive level.
Also Hooters would be a perfect fit for Massillon and a great place to hang out after work or Tiger Football Games.
The ball of development needs to get rolling in Massillon again and it starts with the Advance Auto going into the former Fazolli's. It is also rumored that The Donut Connection will be included in the deal.

Nothing will come of the Lincoln III project until Deville and Mayor Frank come up with a concept for their next pet project. He has stated many times that he wants a hotel or two to go there. Why Frank is obssessed with building hotels that will sit empty and go bankrupt without a bail-out is beyond me. Nothing will be built on these sites until those two are given the right incentive. Certainly he wouldn't want a resturant there, no that close to Menches Bros...
BTW, let me ask you this as far as the Massillon Market place area... would you want to build anything of note there? I know I would want my customers to think of my place of business every time they go to the bathroom. What a great slogan you could have... "When you think of the scent of your bathroom after a dump, think of our wings!" Don't worry though... the Inde has reported every 3 months for the last 5 years that the smell should be gone in a few months... So surely they must be doing something to that place other than hiding jobs that the city can't afford anymore. :ohplease:
