Plus a 2% increase in demand this year in the USA!
Both parties share in the blame for where we are with regards to energy/oil/gas prices.
Everybody wants to point the finger at someone on the other side of the aisle and say they haven't done enough, but the bottom line is this problem didn't just sneak up on todays administration, or todays congressmen and senators.
For every "tree hugger" that supposedly poses this uncanny ability to deter the Republicans from accomplishing their goals, there's a Republican that will do whatever a lobbyists desires to deter a Democrat from accomplishing his goals. It's called "gridlock", and it's ruining our country.

Total motor gasoline inventories climbed by 1.7 million barrels last week, but remain well below the lower end of the average range.

Bush has a higher approval rating than Pelosi's Congress: http://www.galluppoll.com/content/?ci=27589.
yes, but if you look at bush's approval rating, it's been higher than congress' rating even during a republican-led congress.

Not sure some of you fully understand supply/demand economics in this case. When demand outpaces supply (ie refineries cant keep up) it does NOT increase cost! It increases pricing power, ie the ability to charge more & increase margin. Hence, Exxon, BP, Sun, Valero, et al are FLUSH w/ cash and reaping profits never before seen in history.

red50go...no kidding... ..oh..and the sky is blue. what's your point?
** i'm speculating here** ...if you're "adding" that comment to stir the debate that "something is going on" in big oil ...then you need to point the finger at almost every sector of business.
1. there's a milk shortage...and prices are going through the roof...mainly because 1 or 2 major dairies "control" the supply. how much you pay for a gallon of milk lately?
2. paper companies have been intentionally shutting mills to decrease capacity...and push the price of paper up.
those are real. where's the outcry? it's not like paper & milk aren't obscure products no one uses...
would you rather have a cooperative ecomomy...ummm...socialism?
