At #22 (coincidentally laying a lick on a Browns QB):

In the NFL it is always a extreme need for DE/OLB's that can play the pass, run, and rush the QB!! Crable rushes the passer very aggressively and plays good coverage on TE's but need to improve on his run defense!! Crable is a sideline to sideline player who can play in the NFL! I originally perdicted 1st round on the topic last year and I hope Mr. Crable brings the heat for UM this fall. I know he has the skills and will go hard-- 2nd team All Big Ten and shooting for All American this season!!!
TWBT----- What do you think of the #22 spot by SI?? You had said you thought he was 3rd/4th round pick at best and we disagreed heavily. I just want to see if your stance has changed.

Would you believe someone has already done a "2008 mock draft?"

Every pre 2008 draft I have seen thus far(4) have Crable going in the 1st round but 1 of them. I hope he proves to be worth all this pre-season attention and dominates this season. I have a feeling he will be seeing alot of double teams coming off the edge.

Monte, I may be wrong but I truly can't remember predicting that Shawn would be a 3rd or 4th round pick in next years draft. I do remember having a solid debate with you about your prediction that pretty much guaranteed that Shawn would be a multi-millionare and a 1st round pick in the 2008 NFL draft. I remember saying something to the effect that Shawn would need to work on his run defense and pass coverage skills "IF" he was going to be a 1st rounder, and that he would have to stay healthy and have a really good season to break into the 1st round. You basically accused me of "dissing" Shawn and not knowing what I was talking about, and I simply stated that I thought it was pre-mature to make the statements that you were based on the fact that he had a "good" year on a team that was regarded as one of the best in the country defensively (which may have been incorrect after seeing how OSU and USC exploited them at the end of the year) and that he would need to STAY HEALTHY, IMPROVE AGAINST THE RUN, and IMPROVE ON IS PASS COVERAGE SKILLS "IF" he was going to be a first round pick and multi-millionare next year AS YOU WERE PRETTY MUCH GUARANTEEING!
Thanks for reminding me of our previous debate, I look forward to following Shawn's progress and wish nothing but the best for him.

TWBT---- I pretty much remember you saying that he wouldn't be considered in the 1st 2 rounds but I was not just referring to you but alot of people I know who follow football have said similar things recently. I have always knew Shawn was a beast and could play in the NFL and OLB's who can rush the QB always go high in the drafts and Shawn fits that decription IMO. I said 1st round and I am sticking to my earlier statements that he will be Massillon's highest draft pick ever so it has to be 1st round because Detroit drafted Spielman with the 1st or 2nd pick in the 2nd round!! MOST EXPERTS ARE AGREEING WITH MY PERDICTIONS RIGHT NOW!!LOL
I remember having a conversation in front of my house in Massillon when Shawn was a junior--- I told him he was NFL material and all he had to do was go hard all time and it would happen. You don't find players 6'5" 255lbs. LB's who can run 4.4 constantly.
Like Coach Stu always told us "GO HARD OR GO AWAY"!! Shawn always goes hard on the field and has learned to maximize his off the field workouts. Stu is looking down smiling at one of his students!!

Monte, I just wanted to ad that I'm as proud of Shawn as a person as I am of his athletic accomplishments. I'm sure I don't need to to tell you how far he has come in his life and the one thing that stands out in my mind about him right now is the fact that Shawn is at a great institution of education as well as athletics and not once have I heard about academic eligibility issues or off the field problems.
"If" he stays healthy, continues to improve his overall skills, and continues to make good decisions in his life, he'll not only be a high draft pick and millionare, but he will have an opportunity to lead by example on and off the field like so many before him, and so many that will try to follow in his foot steps.

Agreed. He has turned out to be a great athlete and person in his tenure at UM. All he ever needed was a chance and Massillon, UM, and his athletic ability gave him that chance and he is taking it for all he can!!
I also look forward to talking with you this season to discuss games and breakdowns of the games.

longtimefirsttime,
That hit by Crable is priceless...I think it set up a touchdown off an interception return.
I saw fear in Quinn's eyes when the then #2 Irish got down 27-7.

Keno, you're full of it.
You're the king of hyperbole, and that's not a compliment.

How can Keno be the King of the Hyperbole when it hasn't even been played yet? :hyper:

Crable is lined up to work America's Best Kid Camp at Lexington this summer. Why is is called that? Because of the college players who come to work the camp. Already commited to the 2007 camp staff that will be in Lexington on July 13th and 14th:
Shawn Crable-Michigan LB
James Laurinaitis- OSU LB
Brian Hartline- OSU WR
Mike Hartline- Kentucky QB
Brandon Long- Michigan St. DE/OLB
Lex is awaiting commitments from:
Antonio James- Illinois DE
Brian Gamble- Illinois DB/WR
Nate Davis- Ball State QB (considered as best player in the MAC)
Pierre Garcon- Mount Union WR
David Ziegelhofer- Ashland WR
Last year was the first year for the camp and one player/coach alum has already been drafted, Andy Alleman, with many more to come. If you have a kid (grades 2-8) that likes to go to camps or you just want to see great college players coach and work with kids, this is a can't miss camp. These guys do a HECK of a job working with the kids at the camp.

That's awesome cracker!
I'm sure Lexington is going to treat these guys that are willing to put in the time and give back to the kids great, and in return benefit tremendously from their participation in the camp.

TWBT, it is truly a great camp. Need a good college lineman in the midwest to work the camp though, got any ideas? OSU and Illinois guys are out of the picture because you can only have 2 kids from each school for a 2 day camp (NCAA rules, one kid from each school can work each day). Jake Long from Michigan would be a great addition, but he might be unavailable. Any ideas besides him?

Cracker!
I can think of a few OL from the area that might be possibilities for your camp if you can't find a "big name".
1. Chauncy Incarnato 6'5" 285 from Dover and Indiana U.
2. Justin Boren 6'3" 310 from Pickerington and UM (Perhaps Shawn can advise)
3. Rocco Cironi 6'6" 300 from Warren and MSU (Perhaps Brandon can advise)
Good luck!

I was told today that Long will do the camp. That is huge. 3 potential (very good possibility barring injury) 1st round picks in next years NFL draft in Long, Crable, and Laurinaitis workign the camp.

He was the "goat" last year in the OSU/Michigan game last year. I expect him to play with a chip on his shoulder all year long. With his height and speed he could be a top 10 pick.
