Excerpts:
"What has brought a lot of attention to the Buckeyes recently on the national scene is the jump they have on the recruits for 2008. Ohio State has what it considers solid, oral commitments from eight players, and more than half of that group fall into the "prized recruit" category. "

" Just last week, monster offensive tackle J.B. Shugarts of Texas said he would become a Buckeye, and that means he'll join Michael Brewster, a gifted center from Orlando who recently announced he will play for Ohio State in 2008.

"That was significant, since those are both top national prospects, and both are players that almost every major program wanted - including the schools in their home states," .................................................. ...continued here..

Trinity's Sweat picks Ohio State
By Kevin Gorman
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Friday, June 1, 2007

Trinity star Andrew Sweat stood at midfield of Hillers Stadium, about to reveal his college choice, when he stopped and handed the microphone to coach Ed Dalton.

It wasn't apprehension on Sweat's part -- he's known all along where he wanted to go -- but Trinity added a unique twist to the announcement by flashing it on the scoreboard scroll: "Andrew Sweat ... Is A Buckeye!"

With that, the 6-foot-2, 230-pound all-state linebacker made a verbal commitment to Ohio State, picking the Buckeyes from 57 written scholarship offers.

"I knew this from day one," Sweat said. "It's always been Ohio State and someone else. It came down to Ohio State and Notre Dame. I really liked Notre Dame, but my heart was at Ohio State."

Those were two of six finalists for Sweat, who also considered Florida, Michigan, Pitt and Penn State.

Sweat said he knew where he wanted to play after attending the Michigan-Ohio State game last November, where the Buckeyes clinched a berth in the BCS Championship.

"Coming away from the Ohio State-Michigan game," Sweat said, "I was like, "I would die to go here.' " ...........http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/highschool/golf/s_510479.html
