This is an exciting time for Cav's fans, even if it can be a little rough on the nerves:2thumbsup:
Cavaliers sweep Wizards in 4 and advanceWASHINGTON (AP) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers completed a playoff sweep for the first time in franchise history tonight.
They beat the Washington Wizards 97-to-90 with yet another unconvincing performance.
The Cavaliers did just enough to beat a depleted team that nearly emptied its bench in the first half..............................................

This really is not big of a deal for the Cavs. I am sure everyone expected that Cavs to beat a an injury stricken Wizards team. The cavs first real test of the playoffs will start in the next round against who ever they play.

Maybe, to have beaten them, but not to have swept them. Anytime any team makes franchise history, it's kind of a big deal.

Cleveland has a great chance of getting to the Eastern conference final as they play the New Jersey/Toronto winner. I really am not sure if they can take it all the way to the Championship but they are well improved. I just think Detroit will be to much for any team in the East. Since they signed Chris Webber and McDeyes is back in his 6th man role they have been beasts. 6 players averaging at least 12pts. a game is hitting you at all angles and they ALWAYS play defense--- something that Cleveland sometimes lacks.

The Cavs will have a whole different type of game if they have to play Jason Kidd & Vince Carter and the Nets. That team always likes to make it a track meet. So, lets hope the Cavs can either match that type of play should they go against N.J. or force them to play the half court game with the Cavs.

I am happy for LeBron and Co. LeBron James comes through once again with 31 points!
This was a very easy series for the Cavaliers. Washington was willing but they were not tough enough. I want a challenge from New Jersey this next series.

For once we have a Cavs team who gets a chance to have a little break. Historically they Cavs have been battling in longer series while other teams have had a chance to rest and wait.

Cavs are looking very impressive. Sasha, Gooden, Larry, basically everyone has stepped their game up a notch. that's 10 striaght now. And how about king James, playing sick and still coming up big in the 4th Quarter when it counts. Jersey now would have to win 4 of 5 VS the Cavs, and that's hard for anyone to do especially with the Cavs playing the way they are now. GO CAVS.

I said Sasha would be the key and Larry Hughes at point Guard was the best move of the season.
Only 2 teams have not lost a playoff game---Detroit and Cleveland!!!!
Both teams look impressive but Detroit is DEEEEEEEEEEEEP and both teams are hungry.

Detroit has something Cleveland doesn't have: championship will and tradition. That could be the one asset that can get them past the Cavaliers if the two teams meet in the Eastern Conference Finals (and the Pistons hearts are burning to take back the championship they lost to then new-champion Miami last season).

I have the Pistons picked to win the NBA title over San Antonio. I predicted that when the brackets came out.
Another asset for the men of Jerome Bettis' hometown...they are the most dangerous team in the fourth quarter. When it's in the fourth quarter and they are up by 10+ points, they have NOT lost a game all season! But they're twice as dangerous in a tight game, especially late in the final four minutes. And that's a credit to Cuyahoga Falls native and head coach Phil "Flip" Saunders...the heart and soul of the Detroit Pistons!

I agree with you that Billups is the leader of the team but this year they got the biggest lift from buying out Webber's contract from the sixers and McDeyes is a great 6th man.
The Cleveland/Detroit match up is going to be good.
I loved how in the 4th quarter of this years playoffs lebron will not be denied and finds a way to score. He is the 2nd best player in basketball.

Far as Steelers and Wolverines...Pittsburgh is still the hot ticket along with Michigan. Michigan needs to beat Ohio State this year, no question about it. Pittsburgh will still be my team always! Never forget their physical, bone-breaking play! 79-41-1 this decade!! Only team to beat two undefeated teams late in one season!!! Ended New England's 21-game winning streak (knocked four of their best players out of the game)!!!! Only team in the AFC to win 15 regular season games in one unforgettable 16-2 2004 season!!!!! Only sixth seeded team to capture a Super Bowl championship by beating three teams on the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I will always be an Atlanta fan...I stood behind them even when they finished 79-83 last year!

I love you...you're the sweetest (and factually speaking funny)! When RAW got that technical for forcefully throwing his headband in the stands, he was in the heat of the moment let alone the heat of battle. It happens not just to Wallace but others too. However, the game turned completely in Cleveland's favor after that...Detroit became unraveled and it showed. For the first time I saw frustration in the eyes of the powerful Pistons.
I would have liked to think that when they wore "DETROIT" on their jerseys that it meant something...well now they have problems they must exploit.
I knew you were going to say something about the fearless Black Muslim. Tell you what...why don't I make a wager with you right now that Detroit will still win the NBA championship. Here are the terms:
(1) If Detroit wins the NBA title, you have to wear red and blue August 24th for everyone at the Massillon tailgate.
(2) If Detroit doesn't win the NBA title, I have to......wear Cleveland apparel of your choice (you pick).

I get your point. And believe me I know the luck Cleveland sports teams have had. But the Cavs are one game away from their first NBA Finals. I cried after "The Shot". I suffered through Bill Fitch. I cringed as they traded away players like Ron Harper and Bill Laimbeer. I endured "lineups" that included Ben Poquette, Edgar Jones, Lonnie Shelton,Roy Hinson and Mel "Dinner Bell" Turpin. I listened as Pete Franklin ripped the team that came days from moving out of town. I had to put up with the bandwagon Bulls and Pistons fans during their runs.
I'm simply not going to temper my enthusiasm for the "hometown" team. And if this happens to be "our time", I'm going to savor every minute of it with no apologies.

We were among the crowd outside the Q watching on the big screen, and the atmosphere was simply incredible; afterwards, the streets erupted into celebration, with people hugging, singing, and high-fiving; cars, taxis and even construction vehicles sounding their horns, and the burning of a Piston's (Wallace, of course) Jersey!
Driving home the next day, we saw a large "Thank Q LeBron" banner on one of the overpasses ... a memory that will stay with me for a long, long time.

I am proud of the fact people celebrated with class and dignitiy instead of misbehaving and giving themselves,Cleveland,and this state a bad name. Kinda reminisant a big Tiger win wasn't it? Rasheed Wallace lost his cool along with other Pistons too. I was disappointed in the lack of sportsmanship that some players showed after the game by just going to the locker room and not shaking hands with Cavs players, especially RAW (who needless to say was ejected). I won't name names but that's not what I expect to see from players who put on a Detroit jersey. Just because you are losing doesn't mean anyone should resort to pushing and shoving as the Pistons did in their loss.
Congratulations to Mike Trivisonno's hometown team, the Cavaliers and LeBron James. They have my respect and will be cheering for them to bring home the NBA title against San Antonio. They are at their peak and I hope they finish the job.

Some of the national media said the Cavs would lose to the Wizards. Most had them losing to the Nets. Virtually all had them losing to the Pistons. Rather than just admit they were wrong they just keep doing spin control. Even if the Cavs lose in a seven game series they'll say/write:
"I knew it all along!"

Cleveland has been a long-suffering sports town. Yes the Spurs are huge favorites. They've been to the finals four of the last nine years. But I'm not going to temper my enthusiasm become some media blowhard has an axe to grind or can't admit he was wrong.

Still have that tangy flash and flair as you always do. Even I have to give the Cavaliers their respect...after all, they did beat pick to win the NBA Finals.
I hope Cleveland wins the NBA championship. They have suffered long enough. If it's time for them to win a title, that time is now. And they're playing like sharpened snipers. And let's not forget that they have defeated the Spurs twice...so they know what it takes.
They took down the diabolical Pistons, who faded terribly in front of everyone's eyes. So, I like the Cavs even more because they will be on the ultimate high for the Finals. They know they can beat the Spurs. Don't forget the 2004 Finals.

Cavs are imploding and losing by 25! Without LeBron the Cavs seem to be no match for the Spurs. The Spurs seem to be too strong. Once the Cavs get home they may win 3 there. As for games 6 and 7 that remains to be seen.

WITH LeBron they don't seem to be any match for the Spurs either.
You have to credit the Spurs for how ugly this series has been so far. They contest every shot, every drive, everything.
At this point the Cavs will be lucky to win one game.

IMO the Cavs have to start Gibson because Hughes is not healthy enough to guard the quiker Tony Parker who is killing the Cavs. Gooden and Z are non existant and that is really hurting the Cavs chances even with the poor shooting percentages and lack of defense. In order fot the Cavs to make it a series those 2 players definitely have to play better. They have managed to climb back into games with great 4th quarter defense but must learn to play with that intensity all game. The Cavs hopefully will build on the 4th quarter efforts of game 2 and win game 3. I guess we will see Tuesday.

I know I have my differences with Keno at times, but I really thought Hubman missed his point and then went a bit far when questioning his opinion. Something you and I would never do :angel:

This NBA Finals series is closely reminding me of the 1999 NBA Finals, when San Antonio routed New York in the first two games on their way to their first NBA title in five games.

The Cavs couldn't get home soon enough. Game 2 was simply painful to watch for the first 40 minutes of the game.
There's a reason why the Cavs have been a huge underdog in the series. You essentially have three superstars for the Spurs versus one for the Cavs. You have three Cavs getting significant minutes who are "all or nothing" (Z, Sasha and Gooden). You have a guy who's a liability, as he's playing on one foot. You have two other guys who give are primarily defense only (Snow and Andy).
Like it or not the Spurs are a dynasty team. That being said, I'm hoping the Cavs can use the home floor to generate some "lightning in a bottle." Go Cavs!
