Sure can. They will improve to 8-8 this season then like 9-7 in 08 then the Super Bowl year 3 years from now.

TigerNick,

Cleveland on their way back? I don't know about that. Truthfully, things have really been downhill for them since the 2002 season, when they suffered that heartwrenching playoff loss at Pittsburgh.

The Steelers I admit looked and were beaten down 24-7 and 33-21. They were down and out. The Browns just didn't put them away.

Since going 9-8 in 2002, they are 19-45, going 5-11 in 2003, 4-12 in 2004, 6-10 in 2005, and 4-12 in 2006.

Keno, Saturday was a major step in the rebuilding of this franchise. It won't happen overnight...but it's begun. You know it, and it's gonna show on September 9th.

I thought the Browns had a solid draft and addressed some of their more glaring needs. Now I'd like to see them be active in the free agent market and try to get some additional talent in the fold for the upcoming training camp. I think there's a few guys that would have a solid chance of making the roster if they are still available and the Browns could secure their employment.
1. Dan Bazuin 6'3 272 DE Cent. Mich.
2. Darius Walker 5'10 RB ND (Dave Meggett type back that has been coached up to play in the NFL by Tuna Jr.)
3. Kenny Scott 6'1 180 CB Ga. Tech (weak on run support but definately has coverage skills and could be a nickel back)
4. Tim Duckworth 6'3 304 OG Auburn (Solid player at Auburn, huge upside)
5. Earl Everett 6'2 234 OLB Fla. (could be a starter in 2-3 years but definately a big hitter on special teams now)
6. Brandon Myles 6'3 185 WR WVa. (4.4 at 6'3 and has decent hands, why not?)

The Browns did exactly what they needed to do in this draft. They got the franchise QB(we hope), the olineman who wil in the system for 10+ years, and a lock down corner which is a much improvement on the corners on the team right now.

3 1st round players in the 1st 2 rounds was worth the picks given to the Cowboys. I still wish they can find a diamond in the ruff at RB because Lewis may be only good for 1 or 2 more seasons!

Keep right on with that. Well see September 9th! I'm going to enjoy kicking your butt twice. First, you're going to be giving me my Subway extra value meal (August 24th) and then September 9th...I'm going to paint your awesome, sensational, self in black and gold!

MTown,

LaMarr Woodley was an all Big-Ten linebacker. Joe Thomas dropping LaMarr Woodley? That's a hopeful, empowered, locked, loaded of a statement you're making.

We'll see what Mr. Thomas does September 9th under third-year Browns leader of the pack Romeo Crennel.

Keno, here's a better question about the draft.
What was your beloved Steelers thinking, and where will they end up next season?
At the end of last season I spoke of the eminent demise of the "almighty" Steelers and was berated by a few of their loyal supporters. Then Cowher left and in came a head coach that Bill Cowher himself said "I'd never heard of the guy before they named him head coach" (LOL!) and Porter was sent packing!
Now your boys are left with;
1. No chance of replacing Cowhers impact, influence and coaching ability with this any time soon.
2. Joey Porter is GONE and so is your most consistant defensive player.
3. The 2 solid LB's that they drafted will need some time to develop in the NFL and will do NOTHING to protect Big Ben.
4. They drafted another TE because their "SuperStar" TE couldn't protect Big Ben when asked to do so.
5. The other answer to their pathetic pass protection was to go out and get a freaking PUNTER in the 4th round and then take an OL in the 5th round that is a good RUN blocker but a weak PASS PROTECTOR!

You and the rest of the Steelers fans need to be a bit more cautious with your smack! You might find your boys at the bottom of the division real soon!

TigerswillbeTigers,

I was fairly impressed with the Steelers draft. The players know what to expect when they put on the black and gold.

Now go finish doing what you were doing earlier...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXIO17p6gTM

Thanks for you input, TwbT, it's good to hear from you. I was hoping the Browns would pick-up Michael Bush from Louisville on the 2nd day, but unfortunately, the Raiders snatched him up. I agree with you, Monte, we need a solid 2nd RB behind Lewis. I would have also liked Antonio Pittman there.

I was also hoping Antonio Pittman would of went to Cleveland in the 3rd but gave those picks to Dallas but the corner from UNLV by far is better than any Corner drafted before him in the draft so we got lucky unless he is still trying to sell e-pills instead of worrying about his NFL contract negotiations!! However San Diego is trying to move Turner because after this year they know they cannot afford his asking price--- maybe work a deal with SD for Turner's services! he and Lewis could make a good power and speed tandem.

Keno---- LaMar Woodley is a solid linebacker and was all-american with Thomas but during the UM-Wisc game last year Woodley was getting handled in the run game by Thomas and Woodley beat Thomas a few times in the pass rush scheme. Thomas is a far better prospect than Woodley at this stage but at rush DE Woodley may be able to pick up some(alittle) slack from the release of Porter. Thomas makes an immediate impact in Cleveland!! OH--- Why do you think he and Prescott Burgess fell in the draft so far???? SPEED!!!! Speed kills in football and Carr making PB put on all that weight to play WOLB diminished the 4.4 speed he had at SS!

UM will have better draft picks at linebacker next year for the draft gurus!!!!

Hi TC!
It's good to be back in the saddle after a couple of busy months. I think the objective posters on here would agree that the Browns draft was solid on paper, and perhaps one of their best in a few years all things considered. I truly believe Thomas will be a 12-15 player if healthy and I think he gives them a chance at having a pro-bowl type lineman to rally around and to build with.
I also think Quinn is going to be a pleasant surprise to most Browns fans. I've spoke with several people that have interacted with him athletically and socially and to a man they've all come away with one unanimous opinion. They say he's an extremely cerebral person that's engaging, respectful and driven by his faith and his desire to succeed personally as much as his desire to succeed athletically. Warren1st hit the nail on the head when he was suggesting Brady would be a great fit for Cleveland and for the life of me I couldn't understand why so many Browns fans and Ohioan's were trashing him.
As far as Pittman goes, I think the Browns may have selected him with their 3rd or 4th pick if they didn't make the trade to get Quinn. I still don't understand what the heck's up with Darious Walker of ND. Here's a guy that was the #1 RB coming out of HS, Played at a big time college, Played under Tuna Jr. the past 2 years in a pro-style offense, was seldom injured, made big plays between the tackles as well as on the edge, and is coached up tp be in the NFL. He''ll have no problem understanding his role as a 3rd down back and he's very aware of his responsibilities in pass protection due to the offense he's coming out of. I truly see him as a Dave Meggett type of back in the NFL!
How's that for a brief response to your post? Lol!

This is a great piece on the behind-the-scenes activities during the draft that I thought others might enjoy as well.

Inside the War Room: How the Browns got Brady Quinn

BEREA -- Shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday, in the middle of the War Room at the Cleveland Browns' headquarters, Phil Savage lowered his head and buried his face in his hands.
The Browns' general manager - with all eyes in the quiet conference room essentially fixed on him for nearly two hours as he methodically worked the telephone trying to make a trade in the first round that would land Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn- wore the look of a man under extreme pressure.

This respite to gather his thoughts was brief, maybe four seconds.

Savage prayed, wondering two things: Is this the right thing to do? Is it going to happen?

Then he perked up, shaking his shoulders, exuding confidence.

For several minutes, the room was frozen by anticipation. Savage had made yet another offer to get a second first-round pick..........................

Kamd50,

Like any other Pittsburgher...I am in the eye of the storm. I have no fear nor am I worried.

When you are 79-41-1 this decade having won three division titles, a conference, and a Super Bowl title, there is nothing to worry about.

When the Browns pride is on the line September 9th...who will they turn to? Who will you turn to?

Also, the Browns will beat Pittsburgh week one. Mark it down now.

And when Pittsburgh wins...it will be the first of many big wins in the Mike Tomlin era.

Get set for what will be a hot, embittered, loathsome, ludicrous, intensely, sweltering, heated afternoon in the CBS (Cleveland Browns Stadium). Pittsburgh will run their win streak over Cleveland to eight and take the lead in the rivalry...credit to the soul and pride of Pittsburgh, PA and the savior of thy Pittsburgh blood Dennis Miller!

No more Cowher
No more Bus
No more Chris Hope

No more Kimo van Oelhoffen

Big Ben is has not been nearly as good since the motorcycle crash. Polamalu has not been nearly as good since Chris Hope left. You have not drafted IMPACT type players.

Quite the Cleveland St. Ignatius product that you are. Keep on talking like the others......

If it's any consolation, you're not like this boy Jimmy Lee Miller who I remember as a freshman in high school, he was failing English I and told his teacher "give me an F and see if I care (dumb a__)."

Priceless...the whole class snickered and laughed at him on his smart arrogant, sardonic, silly comment. He got suspended a week out of school for that.

But back to the 110th game between the Steelers and Browns, give the Browns a loss and see if they care!
