Today is opening day for Menches Bros. restuarant. (next to bw3, in the old Video time location).
I decided to try it for lunch, and man is that place AWESOME! The service was outstanding, the food was some of the best i have had in a long time, and the music their playing inside is very enjoyable.
I hope this place stays around for a VERY looooong time!

Good to hear things are running well from the start. I've always enjoyed the one in Green and look forward to trying one a little closer.

Well, our revue of the place was favorable. According to my son, his chicken wrap was awesome, huge onion rings, and my scrod was cooked just right. Oh yea, and great gravy on the mashed potatoes!

Very nice, casual, friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed seeing Mr. Obiefan, lol, and my hubby was very happy to have a chat with one of his old charges from back in the day, Jason Woodard (I hope I didn't botch the spelling), along with getting a chance to say hey to Mr. Caples. It was nice to see the fairly good crowd supporting the Menches' opening night.

I have only one minor complaint, and that is that the dinners do not come with a salad or bread/rolls. To me, this is a great oversight, but seems to be the trend with some restaurants these days. Back in the day, you never would hear of a dinner menue not including these things.

We too, had an outstanding meal! I had the "Glory Burger", a burger with mushrooms, sauteed onions and topped with swiss cheese. Done just right and it came out HOT. Nice touch in the restaurant business these days.

My wife had the italian sub and she said it was good.

Both my son and daughter had the buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. My daughter gave it a 10 out of 10. Not too bad!

Hope they do well!

Kamd- it was nice meeting you too! Thanks for your thoughts about MP!

Not to dump cold ketchup on your fries, but this place is going to be just another same 'ol burger place (Rockne's, Cameo, Massillon Club, Amvets, Buckeye Club, Kozmo's, etc). What Massillon needs is more of an upscale steak house, or upscale seafood restaurant. Heck, even an Outback Steakhouse would be an improvement.

Rizzo's Steak House, and the old Venice up on Duncan St. SW were good. If Massillonian's want to upgrade the downtown and draw more people, you need to offer something different than what you find everywhere else.

TigerCoach,

I've been to Rockne's and Smiley's...both on Lincoln Way East. Now I need to get my charismatic, attentive, nice, dominant, yearning approachable, stylish, self down to Menches Bros.

We dont need an upscale steak house.

We need a steak house.

A Bakers or Sparta or Rizzos.

While it would be nice to have a regular "steakhouse", I disagree that Menches Bros is just another hamburger place. They have quite the varied menu. Last night we ordered carryout pizza and were pleased with that as well as our dinner the other night.

Yes, there sandwich/hamburger menu is extensive, but they also offer NYStrip, Scrod, Salman, Chops, and a variety of pastas like lasagna and fettuccini:thumbsup:

However............... How are their prices ????

In general, a wide margin of their menu items are in between the 4.99 to 6.99 price range. That's excluding things like Strip/Chop/Pastas dinners, etc., that range from 7.99 to 13.99; also excluding kid's menu and desserts, of course.

While I am at it, I will add that they offer a breakfast menu as well:smile:

How 'bout the pizza & wing prices ?? I know the price of pizzas and wings is getting out of hand. I'm trying to boycott BW3's, ( prices and quality just miserable ). Been going toWinking Lizard on Mondays & Tuesdays after 5. They have 30 cent wings, ( BIG ONES ),and half off small pizzas !!

I will have to stop into Menches this week. I loved the Menchinelli's stuff back in the day, and I'm sure this is the same quality stuff !

Just got back and to add to your pricing:
I had the Blue Cheese Burger $6.99
a Handful of frieds $1.99

all in all it was a little pricey but that is the sign of the times! Min.Wages are UP and price of getting the food to the venders is also up. So you pass it on to the person buying the product.

Anyone else notice the prices jumped at Kraus Pizza?

lol, lg. cheese pizza was 7.99 and then you add 1.20 for each add. item you want on it. I liked it, it was thin style, which I prefer, and we all liked the sauce. The wings, Idk about those.

However............... How are their prices ????

I had lunch with my son today. Our bill for 2 was $24.00. We ordered
a 1/2 lb. "Big Menches" w/cheese and onion rings, a 1/3lb w/cheese
and onion rings. And 2 sodas.

The service was great and the food was delicious!

With all due respect, why don't you try it before you knock it? Menches brothers has done very well in Green and very well in Akron (they're in the Aeros stadium).... this is not 'just another burger joint'. :wall:

I've been to both several times. Akron more than Green because of the Aeros games. It's just more of the same.

I can get out of Cameo for around $11.00. I really liked the burgers at
Menches though, the flavor was really good, and juicy.

I will defiantely frequent them both.

We just ate dinner at Menches tonight. It was good. I had the grilled chicken salad and my husband had an individual pizza. We had drinks and our bill was just under $15.00.

One question I have is with 3 restaurants in the same area with similar food, Menches, Kosmos and Rocknes how will it affect the business of the other 2?
Which one is your favorite?

Banks

When you sit down and list the resturants in a 3 block area you get
Bob Evans
BW3
Rockne's
Amvets,
Kozmo's
Menches
Smileys
McDonalds
What ever is in Venturas
Quiznos ( they are closing )
Krackers
I am sure there is one or two more !

Ever notice how fast food joints all tend to locate together? Surprisingly, all of the restaurants will do better if they are concetrated close by. Same thing also happens with car dealerships.
