I strongly suggest that we just ignore his/her posts everyone! (Can we just ban him/her from the site?)
I was at the Band Family Picnic last night too and the Swing Band sounded great and looked very good too! Lots of swinging of instruments and high step marching-they looked sharp! The entrance looked fine too-coming in single file makes the band look huge!
I do hope that the girl who is Obie is ok. She was running through the lines with the costume on and had to stop and go to the sidelines and seemed to almost pass out. It was really humid last night and that costume has to be extremely hot to wear.

I got the same feedback from my niece that they looked and sounded great. They will be ready to “swing” next Friday at “showtime”.
She also told me that they would be coming in from the East Side of the stadium for pre-game -- so that should be interesting.
I just about can’t wait…am getting sooooo excited. Soon, very soon, the sounds of Tiger Rag and Carry On will be ringing in my ears and when the team busts through that hoop….it’s football heaven.

While we don't expect perfect spelling and grammar, it is greatly appreciated by fellow members when you put some effort into your responses. At a bare minimum, be sure to check basic spelling, capitalization and punctuation.
Also, instead of simply making negative comments, include details on areas that need improvement and your suggestions as to how they can improve.

What this person does is commonly referred to on message boards as "trolling" - making only inflammatory statements to rile people up. His method of "writing" is designed to tick people off as well - I mean seriously, is there anyone who's passed the first grade that thinks any of his spelling or grammar is appropriate? And when he/she's called on it, the answer is "I guess I'm not perfect like you". That's not an appropriate response - it's one designed to anger and annoy.
I don't believe for a minute that this individual is a Massillon supporter - I'll bet he/she is a Bulldog of the worst sort whose sole purpose on this board is to mess with a few Tigers and get people angry. So the next time this sad little person, with no life other than to bait people on a High school message board, rears his/her pathetic little head to write some other gibberish which has about as much truth as it does correctly spelled words, we should all just say, "Run along home, little pup before the Tigers eat you!"

This message is to everyone. I'd want everyone to remember that this website is for the postive promotion of Massillon. This includes the band.
I know for a fact the reason to change the band entrance this year is the road between the south endzone is closed. They can not enter from any of the Southeast gates.

Thursday the band invited the family to a picnic at the stadium. It was really nice. Afterwards they did a run-through of their game show. Their entrance is good, different, but I liked it. When mommy and I saw our daughter (baby girl) come out on the field we both had a moment. You band parents know "that moment." That first time seeing your child in the band and it hits you, weren't you born just yesterday? Mommy had a big moment while watching them in the parade. She had to go off by herself. Did anyone else have that moment? Did any senior parent have that moment, knowing that this is your child's last year? Now, back to the practice. The half time show will be enjoyable. Tiger Rag, faaaaaaasssssssst! Made me tired. :gotigers:

... flaboi... looks like i'm not the ONLY one who only heard negativity from you...
... my point about the contruction is this... they had to come up with a new entrance this year.. because of the current construction.. and also because of the future contruction... both are going to play a factor in how the band comes onto the field..
...and as a band alumni.. i find that it was VERY different performing at practice and at a game... at a game you have the crowd into the music.. and hearing them clap and cheer gets you soo pumped up.. that you can't help but put pride into what u are playing..
...flaboi my friend.. i have a feeling you will be VERY surprised come Friday night..
..6 days and countin.. can't wait to hear that Tiger Rag!!! :tig:

TigerBob75,
I definitely had one of those moments (actually I've had a few) as a parent of a Senior this year. Each thing she does is for the last time, whether it's majorette camp, pictures or the HOF parade. Here's to a FANTASTIC Senior year!

whether the road to the side where the band usually enters is closed or not was not the issure if u read my statements. they STILL could do the same entrence as they did last year, just on the other side ( the side they wil lbe entering on now) i simpily expressed that the entrence was not upbeat at all and was boring. i complimented the band on last years entrence and said how it made EVERYONE aware that THE SWING BAND was coming in. BUT people had to jump all over me about being such a bad person because i criticized the band. In this world, whether you like it or not, people will ALWAYS have a different view. If you can't execpt that, maybe the question lies in you, why things dont get better or change. Those who cant execpt change or criticisum, maybe is just settles for what they THINK they can only handle.
ANYONE that wants to say i am a bulldog has that right. But, i support this band and football team ( MASSILLON) with everything they do. From the fruit and nut sale, to the car washes, to the 50/50 and being a booster club member. So please do not question my loyalty to this outstanding high school. My views may not be to the likings to some of you in this high school chat room, but i AM A TRUE TIGER through and through. And my spelling may not be perfect either, nor my punctuation is always correct, But please remember this is only a hight school chat room as a member stated above.
I also know that these band members put in long, tedious, heat wrenching hours to give not only the massillon faithful a great show but also to the fans in oppostion as well. I no these are kids, and i also no that it does take time.... but comparing to last year, which was Mr. Neals 1st year to this year at the same time in the season, it justs looks like the fan fare is missing (UP TO THIS POINT) in the game. I will sit back and watch from now on and try to see what everyone says they see. I may have chosen a bad selection of word choices and i am sorry for that. I am not trying to cause anyone to get mad or get there emotions boiling, i just said what i thought. i hope you all can for give me, because i really do LOVE MASSILLON through and through ..
hope everyone had a great weekend and just think.... ONLY 5 DAYS... YEA!!!

MTSB halftime show was really nice and thoughtful as well... but the pre-game show... WOW did u see those lines? there were students actually running while marching down the field.. this is our traditional pre-game songs and drills which are the first taught... if u cant do the drill- to the sidelines you should go.. every one in HS has to try out, if u cant preform u dont make the team... yes these kids try really hard but running down the field????
At one point in the opening routine, the kids acted like they didnt no what they were doing.. horns pointed to the ground, and instead of legs in the air, there feet was dragging on the turf.
There were plenty of rummbles in the stands about whats going on with the band
oh and twirler, i thought the band couldnt enter from the other side of the field because of the construction? i watched them march in for halftime from around the track to the home side where they always entered. all they had to do was do that for pregame... enter form the visitors side and march around the track to the home side.

.. a big part of our entrance is that the band stays hidden from view.. then all of a sudden you hear the beating of the drums and the band appears... in order to do that the band must now enter from behind the away stands so they can remain hidden from view of the fans... which is what they did LAST year on the home side.. but because of the construction.. and the storing of rubber for the turf.. and FUTURE construction of the new locker room facility.. the band entered from the away side and will most likely continue to do so for pregame..
.. and yes some of the lines seemed to be a little off... and some of them looked like they didn't know where to go.. i'm hoping those were first game jitters... i'm sure things will run more smoothly as the season progresses and those newbies get used to performing in front of large crowds..
.. very nice performance band.. the tribute to Aaron and Cory was wonderful!!.. keep up the good work!!!
.. and flaboi- you seemed to be a hot topic amongst a FEW tailgate parties me and a few friends attended.. those who aren't on MP seem to think you're just as ridiculous as the massillon faithfuls on MP do!..

well thank you twirler.. im glad to be the hot topic of the night... most importantly so was the band many after pre game wonder what the heck was going on... the band was not hiddle last year at all.. you could see them line up on the home side.. maybe you are under ther roof at the way top at the ten yard line... and yes halftime was a GREAT show def give that to them... but even you stated in previous emails that you thought pregame looked GREAT yet my god those lines and people actually running down field? are u suppose to run in band? maybe every band is different like you said.. most bands you march lol :)
we will see this week if any of that changes. You may be right though twirler. it was the first game and kids do get star struck.. but like i said the half time show was very well done.. so this wasnt a bad email just a few thoughts and one last thing?
maybe we all can agree to this.... maybe the band should yell TIG--ERS when they are in the block M before the team enters the field. It has always been tradition to roar up the stadium with TIG---- ERS its nice they do it but by time the crowd starts to get it going the hey song is being played....just an idea???? It seems the TIG--ERS is slowly going away and i love to hear the stadium explode with that :)
hope everyone had fun friday night it was so nice to see a large crowd at the game also !!!!!

Of the 83 posts that were made in this thread in the year 2007, 57 have been either by or about flaboi7. This thread was started as a support thread for the MTSB - if you do not wish to support them or wish to pretend to support them by offering negative, unconstructive, or invalid opinions (invalid defined as opinions given without thought or consideration as to what it takes to rebuild a program, how early in the season it is, etc) - start your own thread - quit hijacking this one. Simply put, it's not about you. This thread is dedicated to the committed and hard working staff and students that make up the Massillon Tiger Swing Band - this year's band having one of the largest percentage of freshmen ever - and their desire to be as good as they can be, entertaining and firing-up the Tiger Town crowd.
It's not hard! All you have to do is scroll down to the bottom of the first page of thread titles on the Tiger Town Talk page and there will be a little blue button that says "New Thread". Click it, and a blank thread page will come up. Feel free to enter whatever useless, insulting, degrading garbage you'd like - just stop posting that crap here. No one wants to read it. No one has agreed with you since the first post you made. This is not the thread for you - go make your own. Seriously. And, enjoy the chirping of the crickets in your lonely little new world.

(Flaboi - this has been very entertaining - thanks for the good laughs I am having from reading your posts.)
To everyone else - can we please stop seriously responding to this yahoo? We are giving him the satisfaction of thinking that we actually care about what he thinks. I mean, seriously...do you care? Do you think he's going to stop being negative about the band - and more importantly, do you think he cares one iota about the feelings of the band students (who are about to pass out from the heat every time they march on that field), or the directors? The answer is NO. So just save your blood pressure and ignore him, and just like any other bully, he'll get bored with it.
(one more note to flaboi - if you want to keep posting idiotic statements that make no sense, I LOVE to laugh!! heeheehahahahahahha :jestera: )

The TSB did a wonderful job Friday evening. Just think about what they had to endure??? That heat was horrible. I sure wouldn’t have wanted to be in a band uniform that night. And the gal who is Obie, is great. I heard that poor girl had to practically be peeled out of her skin…
Sure the band had some mis-steps -- that is to be expected with new people, new routines, new music, the first time out. It was the first game for them, just like the football team. There are going to be things that happen and things to improve on. But, overall, I thought they did an outstanding job on the pregame and the halftime show. And, when I watched it back on TV…it looked even better.
(When I was in the band, one night half of the band stopped and the other half kept on going --- things happen. You just pick yourself up and go on. An example of how life’s lessons are learned in band, football, etc.)
Another thing to remember, these kids have to learn seven new shows this year. That’s a lot!! But, I know they will learn them and give us all they have in their performance -- they always do!!
Keep it up…and CARRY ON…. it’s going to be a FANTASTIC season!!

im not saying that the band will not improve or im not trying to start name calling.... im just stating that if the football team isnt doing well we call for our coach to be fired.. for the band its always excuses... these kids may be interested in going futher in college with band and they should be well prepared for it .... and i do applaud thse kids bc band is not easy its time consuming and very hard work.. esp in this heat..
look at it this way at least someone is caring enought to want to see the band more successful then it is right now...critisism is not a bad thing.. maybe thats the prob with kids now adays . they dont learn from mistakes or new ideas...
The way that you spell and write, you shouldn't be criticizing anyone! You should spend some time studying. You have so many mistakes in your messages that someone couldn't start trying to help you---but that's all right bc I figure you don't want help anyway!

Dear tiger54?
where in my last blog is there a spelling error? i may be using a short cut method of typing which is used when using a blog site. (Ex: prob. is in reference to probably ) and no i dont think they changed the cadance due to my postings but it's kind of funny though that i stated that and then they changed it 2days later.
Anyways, even though my last few postings were positive, I am still being knocked on for spelling and punctuation. I thought this was suppose to be a postive site? Knocking down someone on their spelling is not very positive is it?

Also a BIG welcome to the 7th and 8th graders from the Massillon Middle School when they join the MTSB on the field tonight!
We need everyone standing and clapping for them!!
They are the future of our almighty band!
And check out the numbers of students-way to go parents and grandparents for supporting these youngsters with purchasing and renting instruments, paying for extra lessons, and buying items throughout all the band fundraisers.
